Sad news for all Villiers fans, he is no more! Casino Royale was his first and last stand. May he rest in peace.
Thanks for all the messages, all your suggestions of ways to make the world a better place, and interesting things to read. Anyone any tips on ways to escape Christmas?
Have a good one and see ye in 2008.
Tobias

*gasp*

I hang my head at the thought of there being no Villers in the new Bonds flick. *hangs her head*

To answer your question re: escaping Christmas, I can only offer one tip:

Make something you love. You love to make things, feel best when you're creating something you feel has value, even if only to you. Tap into the vein again, as many tries as it takes. Find that place where the world blurs by, and it's just you and your project in pure creation mode.

That's my little tip. :)

Had no news at all about Villiers. So sorry.
Tips on ways to escape? That's a tough question. I can only think of two ways of making it: one would be to travel to Mars, or somewhere near, since every single place in the world, no matter how poor or rich, whatever its religion might be, seems to be polluted with this happy christmas fever. Unbelievable, I guess it's the so called globalization. The other would be to escape staying at home, which eventually is the one place one can really control, right? Well, sometimes!!
Anyway, a good way to face this overwhelming invasion of Christmas carols and these stupid ornaments would be to deal with them as if they were theater plays, an external thing, know what I mean?
Happy new year to all of you, hope it's better than this 2007!!

The best way to escape Christmas, in my honest and extremely untactful opinion, is to pack your bag full of sunscreen and boardy shorts, get a on plane and land your ass on some Caribbean beach full of white sand, pale blue crystal clear oceans, palm trees and RUM. Make sure that wherever you stay...its walking distance to the nearest tiki bar, and there isn't a law against accidently passing out on the beach LMAO!

Have a great Christmas!!

No!! I am really disappointed that there will be no Villiers in Bond 22; what a surprise, especially since the action is supposed to pick up immediately where Casino left off. I only went to see Casino Royale in the first place because I knew you were in it. There was a nice dynamic between Villiers and Bond that would have been fun to see developed.

I hope there are other good things in your future. Re: escaping Christmas. How about volunteering at a local food bank on Christmas day or a community center which helps others? Or, you could escape London by going out of town to visit family. Happy Holidays, however you spend them.

RIP Villers.

Rather than escape Christmas, why not embrace it. Start your own tradition if you don't like the options surrounding you. I know people come down hard on Christmas, I don't know why since any holiday is what you make it mean to you.

After mass, our family come together to have a midnight dinner with all the trimmings. Afterwards some of the older members sleep in couches or beds, while the younger ones (us) play the hell out of Xbox, jam to instruments lying around or shoot hoops till the neighbors yell at us to shut up.

This Christmas we're going to stream live with our youngest cousin who's in the Marines (Iraq)
although it'll be a few minutes (live session), I'm sure it'll mean a lot more to him when he sees us all on camera screaming Merry Christmas from the top of our lungs.

Make every day including Christmas count, and for God sake don't escape.

Wishing you a prosperous 2008 to you and yours!

Hugs, C

Now I'm sad. I liked Villiers.

As for escaping Christmas, I feel like doing that most years. But since I can't sit on a beach with a pina colada in one hand and a book in the other, I just try to go with the flow. I honestly don't think you can ever escape Christmas. It's everywhere you go.

Hope you have a great Christmas and New Year's! Until 2008. =)

That is sad news Tobias. I enjoyed you playing him in Casino Royale. I also enjoyed your role in the tv series Rome. Maybe as luck will have it, you will be in the Bond movie after this.

Hi there,

Regarding Christmas: have been looking for the answer for years now.. :)
Currently reading Grisham’s “Skipping Christmas” for ideas.. but it seems hopeless.
It is everywhere. Going to the other end of the world is no solution. Unless one wants to see kangaroos pulling the sleigh and koalas giving out presents..
So I guess one simply has to “face the inevitable”.. well, of course not exactly in the sense mentioned by agent Smith.. :)

Take care and (try to) Enjoy!

Aww, that's a shame about Villiers, but I hope 2008 brings another exciting role!

Besides going into the nearest wilderness until after Boxing Day, I don't know how you can really escape Christmas, but even if you don't do Christmas, I think you can still manage to enjoy the season. Just do all the things you can't do other times of year - go ice skating in Kew or Greenwich, sip on mulled wine, invite friends and family to make cookies or such, find somewhere to watch the winter stars on a clear night, though you may have to get well away from London to do that! It's all about finding and making light in the midst of the darkest days, and spending time with the people we care about, even if all the jangling materialism gets in the way.

Although late, the best way that I escaped Christmas was to view it through my children's eyes. Sweet innocence before commercialism sets in.... Another way I escaped Christmas was to realize that it's not possible to do everything someone else wanted us to do -- attend the holiday party with people we can't stand or write a card to someone we haven't seen in years. Simply enjoying close family and close friends made the holiday fulfilling, whilst not breaking the bank account.
