Hi! SO you may notice that the first song you hear on my profile now is "It's Raining Men". this atrocity was penned by Paul Shaeffer I believe in the 80's -when else? I recorded it for a television show that doesn't seem to be too impressed with it: ) Oh well, thought you might enjoy it for a while. I think it sounds great, it was produced by Mark Nash and Nate Blackstone. They made it sound amazing! I'm up at 5:30 and I hear the sound of distant thunder and It's nice. Have a beautiful weekend, beautiful people.

Love,

Leigh

How could you get through the whole song without laughing? Maybe you didn't. =)

Everytime I hear this song all I think of is that old skit on 'In Living Color' with Damon Wayans and David Allan Grier, 'Men on Film'.  Great job redoing it, it sounds wonderful no matter what those tv folk say.

Cool take on the song.  And....thanks for sharing.

When you're done with the thunder, can you send it down this way.   Forecast for Dallas today:  Hot and Hellish.

Hey Leigh,

Thanks for your rendition, because this is the FIRST time I ever listened to every word of that dreadful song.   You polished that antique up nicely!  At least Mark didn't add thunder and lightning to the background like Aretha's version of it!  So will we soon see a  "Nash does Disco" CD? Can you do any Donna Summer? Last Dance or She Works Hard for the Money ?  I always moved well to those.  If you do either I'll send a video of my dance moves to ya.

Sensitive Gay Men who love folk music will love your rendition.  I thought it was it was a lame version from the original.

well...

i'm a fan of yours, so i'm sure i'll get around to listening to it eventually.  you did turn me around with 'dancing queen' after all. ("oh no.... i... i like ABBA???!?!?!")

still...

it's gonna take some time. i work in a profession that's dominated by women, and every now and then... i dunno, they get a little crazy. a certain song will come on the radio, and women from every direction-- dozens of them-- will drop whatever they're doing, form a circle around each other and shout out the lyrics full volume while dancing in some sort of carefree, ritualistic fashion they probably learned in gym class that day in sixth grade when they seperated the boys from the girls. (we learned about burping and why it's important not to ask for directions).

anyway, it can get a tad frightening, so there are a handful of tunes that send shivers up my spine whenever i hear them. and this, of course, is one of them.

i'm sure your version is a good one. i just need to ask for your patience. thanks.

oh, and also... please stay far away from "i will survive" by gloria gaynor??? thanks again. i appreciate it.

Paul Schaeffer has the best late night band on television... but that song has always made me wonder about him a little. I think it was originally written for a comedy sketch on SNL or that Canadian one that I can't recall the name of. And the song took off and became a huge hit. Sometimes you just never know....

That is a sweet version.  However...

I can't seem to get images of the old show "In Living Color" out of my mind... remember the sketch where the Waynens Bros are doing the "Men on Film" sketch... that was the the theme song...

Thanks for letting us listen!

At least you don't hear the sound of "A Distant Thunder," the low-budget late-'70s Calvary Chapel Rapture thriller. That wouldn't be nice.

Honestly, I'm very impressed with it.  Obviously the words are the atrocity, but the voice singing them and the music playing it overcome them.  Thanks for sharing it with us!

WAAAAAYYYY better than the original, Leigh..... Thanks for salvaging it! I've been a fan of yours for at least the past 10 years, and I'm glad to see you're still in the business after Sixpence broke up.... Your voice is DIVINE..... It truly soothes my nerves after a hard, stressful day at the tv/radio station where I work.... As a matter of fact, I played your song "Don't Dream It's Over" on my radio show I dj in the afternoons.... LOVE hearing your voice.

Thanks for your music!

Isaac

This is awesome!!!  Your version is so much better than Geri Halliwell's (or the Weather Girls' for that matter...).  Have a great weekend, and I can't wait for your solo album to come out...

The first thing I thought of when I saw the title of that song was," I'm not that kind of guy!" So, I doubt if it will become one of my favorites anytime soon... even if it is being song by the talented Leigh Nash ;)
I'm also glad, it's not on the new CD. Cuz I can say, that every tune that I've heard so far, I like.

When I first read "It's raining men" by Leigh Nash, I thought "cool". But when I remembered how the song was like and then I first hear it I thought about two different styles, and how good you adapted it to yours. And I must say that the song sounds pretty cool.

It would be great if you could let us have access to this kind of songs, like "Ben". I mean, they're great songs and it would be great for us the fans, to have it on an album as extra songs, or maybe available for download on iTunes, or just to play in this space. Anything you think would be fine for us to hear them, cause they're great.

Saludos!

what show was it?? are they insane? this happened a couple of years ago when they re-made the film "Alfie". the original movie was with Michael Caine and Cher performed the theme song "Alfie". they got Cher to re-record the song for the new Jude Law "Alfie" and then they told her she wasn't any good at singing the song she had originally made a hit. they got Joss Stone instead. i guess they wanted someone more "hip" at the moment, and much much younger. and Joss is talented. i never heard Cher's remake of "Alfie" so i can't tell you who is better, Cher or Joss. but your "It's Raining Men" is incredible. and i didn't particuliarly care to ever hear that song again. but that's before i heard you sing it. PLEASE but this out on a cd sometime!

Greatest Hits Of The '80s

i just heard the original on a retro radio show. then they played "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake. yes right after The Weather Girls. that's quite a variety. but hearing the original made me want to hear your remake so i came on back over to your page to check it out again. USUALLY when you hear a remake it makes to want to hear the original. but in the case of The Weather Girls, Leigh Nash will win everytime!
