So a very sad thing happened to my car, it was the unfortunate victim of a fast but furious hail storm in Eaton last Wednesday night.  I haven't been able to write about it until now because I am disgusted and sad.  For those of you who know me and have ridden in/been around my car, you know that I guard it with my life-I take up 1.5 spaces at work, I don't park by anybody in any parking lot-it's not uncommon for me to circle the lot multiple times seeking "the spot" (car nuts, you know what I'm talking about...), I have just about every detailing product known to man (clay bars FTW!!), and all it took was one 10 minute storm to pound it's mark into my baby, over and over again.  My roof got the worst of it (and at first, I thought that was all the damage sustained), but after taking it to a reputable shop and examining it under the bright lights, it was obvious every single body panel except the hood had damage. I cried.  The body shop guy gave me a moment (okay, a few minutes) to pull myself together.  Yeah, yeah, I cried, but at least he knows how much I love my car, sniff, sniff.  So, that's the bad news.  The good news is that the hail damage is not the deep pings you usually see, so after they are done, it should be looking perfect again.  The guy showed me how he does PDR (on someone else's car), and he's got other body work experience, so he knows what he's doing.  Still, it's someone other than me touching my car, so I'll be downing Mylanta by the bottle while they have my car. (Obsess much?)

The timing is horrible becuase there is a massive Subaru car meet next weekend at Red Rocks, and now the joy of attending and showing her off has just been sucked right out of me.  But more good news, just when I was dragging my head in despair, I got a call from Subydude, and my wheels are finished and shipping out-my brown boxes of joy (containing my new Rota wheels) will arrive to my house on Monday.  Any guesses on how fast I will be driving home Monday after work???  The joy is slighly lessened by the fact that I haven't picked out/ordered any lugs or tires yet so I can't do anything but drool on them, but meh, small details.  I'm also getting the Suby valve stem caps-can't resist those!

Anyways, writing about it gets rid of some of the fury and disbeleif, now I can pick a body shop and move forward.  At least the insurance adjuster agreed with the first body quote I got, so I don't have to fight any battles with them yet...sigh.  Will post updates once I pick a shop (and pics when the work is done and the new wheels are on!!)
