And I maybe they "Matured" to you, But to me and many others, werent as impressed at all and neither was island records. So I still love thrice But dont call me a hater if I still support them even though I refuse to awknowledge the last 2 albums (vhissue, and the elements album or whatever) as anything more than mediocre. 	Music is the Way... Daniel Huerta	..Illusion of Safety is an amazing album, but to classify Thrice's growth in writing (and a better utilization of music theory for their last 2 projects) as "mediocre" is saying that you're one of those people that is comfortable with monotony, which is an awful thing for a musician.  And I'm not saying that you're wrong in your opinion, but your facts are a little convoluted.  They left Island Records willingly because Island wasn't happy with the demos they presented for the Alchemy Index, and rather than try to rewrite, record, AND produce 2 EPs before their release deadline, they chose to stick to their guns and told the label they weren't going to conform.  And, unless you're a music student, chances are you aren't going to like any of the post-AITA albums, including their upcoming release...   Posted by Music is the Way... on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 - 1:51 AM [Reply to this]

	OSCAR (in HD)	As a music student iam shocked you think they are progressing. I mean did you hear the fire album? sounds like they bought more pedals and made the riffs less artistically complicating. The water album is the only one I think was interesting, but its just them playing keyboard and using synth. vhissue and alchemy, are the same in how they wrote using extended and less complicated chords and riffs. You can say its art, you can say it forms a cool aura over the music, etc but technically its not BETTER than their old stuff. I mean didnt really appeal to a very wide audience like the past albums. The reason they were so recognized was because they wrote complicated and music that formed an amazing atmosphere around the lyrics. And it was different. Daniel Huerta	That's ironic, because as a music student, you should understand that growth and change are part of evolving as a musician.  You said "vhissue and alchemy are the same in how they wrote using extended and less complicated chords and riffs", which, in many ways, is incorrect.  Vheissu was a step away from what you and many other people hoped it would be, but the fact that Thrice didn't want to pander to the post-hardcore masses doesn't meant that they have become any less talented.  In fact, I can appreciate any band that where the members would take the time to learn more instruments to better contribute to their craft, not just chugging away with Iron Maiden style riffs, like every other band on the radio is doing.   And you should really compare them to Isis, since Thrice admitted that they are their biggest influence as of now.   Posted by Music is the Way... on Thursday, June 18, 2009 - 9:15 PM [Reply to this]

I never thought of it as them losing talent, I Guess my opinion was that it wasnt as good as i expected when I first read vhissue was coming out. It definatly stirred up alot of the fans. And I do agree its cool they are usuing different instruments. I guess to correct myself, Id say if they were to make another album, it would be cool if they made it upbeat and maybe bring back some fast tempos for a few songs.
