Current mood:  frustrated

Okay, so recently I decided to do a bit of research on Evolution online, particularly about Darwin (I originally began by trying to discern whether there was truth to the story that Darwin refuted Evolution on his deathbed and converted to Christianity, and for those of you who are curious, that story is at best unverifiable, and most consider it false, including Christian Scientists). So, of course through my search I stumbled upon several "opinion" sites that stated facts about the theory of Evolution and why it is correct etc. and so forth. These sites were well written, backed by well-founded scientific evidence, and seemed very comprehensive and arguable. Now of course most of these sites (some of which were myspace sites) had areas where others could comment back, and here is where my true aggravation occurred.

I found it disappointing that every time a Christian or someone who trusts in the fact that the world was created or has an "intelligent design" (the new phrase that's going around), they seemed to be uneducated, silly fanatics who could be easily dismissed or argued away and made to be a fool by those who trust in Evolution.

I know that there are scientists out there who trust firmly in Creation, and that, while it certainly has an element based on faith and can be interpreted differently than Evolution, that there is scientific evidence that supports Creation (I know there are several books that have even been written about it, for instance The Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell). So my question is where are all these educated people when it comes to defending Creation? The people who seem most interested in trying to establish and present evidence for Creation, at least from what I've seen online, seem to be so unschooled on the subject that they only further "prove" Evolutionists correct, if about nothing else then about the fact that the only people who trust in Creation are uneducated Bible Thumpers who can't think for themselves. This both disappoints and occasionally scares me. I mean, I know that since Creation is true that perhaps the educated scientists or whatnot don't feel the need to defend it, but still, it would help other Christians such as me if we knew we had educational backing. Also, it might help throw some doubt on those who so firmly trust in Evolution.

I don't know, maybe in the end for me it's a pride thing really, and I just hate to see Creation and Christianity so thoroughly bashed.
It's something that almost makes me want to major in science, if for nothing more than for the fact I could learn more about all of it and become someone who could coherently state why Creation is a well-supported way for the earth to have been formed.

Well, that's all for now, hope I didn't bore anyone too much, but, there you have it! Robyn's recent aggravation :-)

Chris

Found this post through a random Technorati search. You just discovered why I'm not a creationist.

thats neat that you spent the time tp research that. evidence that demands a verdict is a book on scriptural appologetics isnt it. i mean i have only read parts of it cause it reads so much like a text book, i do have it though.
