Hey Everyone,
This is going to come as a shock to many of you. After much prayer and thought given to the matter, we asked Jason Barnes to step down from his involvement with Haste the Day. For a while Jason has been searching and searching for real meaning in his existence. After several months of reading literature and talking with friends, Jason had determined that he felt there was no God and certainly no Jesus. We as a band do not have problem with those that do not believe in Jesus, nor do we cast judgement on those that do not believe in Jesus. We just want to love on people like Jesus would and hopefully share a little bit about what he's done and doing in our lives. We would call ourselves a Christian band and for that reason, we felt we couldn't have someone in the band who didn't agree with the band's foundational drive.. Jason's new found disbelief in what the rest of us have committed our lives to began to cause disunity within the band and as a result, we prayed and talked about it and felt like God was saying it wasn't time for Haste the Day to come to an end. Thusly, We asked Jason to leave.

We love Jason and it pains us all to not be on the road with one of our closest friends. It has also been a miserable experience for Jason to not be a part of something that he has been a part of for so long. We are all working on mending the tear in our relationship with Jason and are hoping to be able to continue to call him friend. We will not be replacing Jason with a new guitar player. Our friend, Dave Krysl, will be our full time touring guitar player. The 4 of us (Stephen, Devin, Brennan, Michael) all wrote our new album which will be called "Dreamer."

We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers you can send toward us and Jason. Thanks for listening and as always, we will see you on the road!

I think this is what you call wisdom on the part of the band. As for Jimmy, I believe he was ready to be family man at home and have carreer with Tooth n Nail. People have a right to live their lives just like Jason, but do you have any idea what it takes to be in a band on this level let alone what it takes to get there? I was not introduced to Haste the Day until like a year ago or at least with the release of their previous album, so I am a new fan. I've met them all and seen them perform live. That's all I know, and I am personally empowered by their music and message. Crusing down the road cranking Pressure the Hinges, White Collar, Stiches, etc. is one of my favorite past times. Have a LARGE day. +Steven Seshun PS just for that comment Imight book them for Holypalooza this year afterall, heh!

1: Your an idiot.
2: Jimmy didn't get let go because of his disbeliefs. He is still a strong Christian and it was his own choice to leave. Have you ever seen his last show? It will tell you everything you need to know.

then dont listen anymore dude...get off this blog and dont support HASTE THE DAY anymore. they did what they felt was right as a band...not either try to go on despite someone in their band didnt believe in what they were doing or break up like most bands these days just because the only thing everyone had in common was that they wanted to be in a band.

haste the day knows that their band is more about the message they share and loving on their fans rather than trying to make the next best album or the next hardest album and sell as many cliche shirts as they can and try to get as big as they can.

thanks for staying true to what yallselves despite leaving two members. yall may have changed as band musically and in terms of members, but yalls heart behind the band and purpose as a band hasnt changed since day one. thanks for not selling out. i love you guys.

dood understand
its kind of imposible for you to have someone involved in something he doesnt belive in
the bands foundation is on christ and if someone doesnt belive in that then its imposible to go on
your only as strong as your weakest link and if jason was a weak link then he has to go in order for the band to go on
and the band is more than just the members. the main one is jesus christ i know its hard to understand for those who dont belive in him but thats whats up
yeeee

that pretty much sums it up, you can call yourself a christian bad and keep him and people will be like "What the heck, your a christian band with someone who doesnt belive in God?!" either way keeping Jason or asking him to leave they are gonna get crap for it. they did the right thing. God bless HTD, and Jason! good luck.

I know this is quite the horrible comparison, but look at Cannibal Corpse. They have 1 original member left, and he just got back in, so for a while, they had no original members. But that in itself had nothing to do with God or Jesus. It was a problem waiting to happen, out of their hands, just like this one.

Jesus was a human, therefore he was not perfect, just as all humans were. He even doubted himself several times, as most Christians would know. He just had a divine gift. If Jesus were in a band, and started doubting himself or his religion when that is what the band originates from, he would find no trouble in leaving the band and finding his personal peace elsewhere. He would "turn the other cheek."

And how dare you. Who are you pass judgment upon anyone? "I look in disgust upon you", what horrible words. "Let those without sin cast the first stone."

Haste The Day is alive and well, they're spreading the word of the Lord and keeping it f**king metal at the same time!

God Bless!

not to nitpick but Cannibal Corpse actually has 2 original members left. Bassist Alex Webster and drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, and i dont recall either of them ever leaving.

there are plenty of bands though with 0 original members that carry on, but usually they justify that they became a different band somewhere down the line...either way haste the day still has 3 original members, shit happens.

Jonathan, well said. Theologically Jesus DID have to be perfect or his death would have been just any ol' other death. But it's not, He rose, and those who believe have eternal life. Amazing isn't it? This sounds like a topic for another thread tho...

Anyway... although it's sad to hear news like this, and no doubt hard for the band, it is completely understandable. As someone who used to be in a band with members of differing beliefs and values, it makes things very very difficult, and it affects everything. I'd say lets show our support for HTD, because they are continuing to give us music and perform for us, so let's pray for them and encourage them back.

then what is the point of having a christian metal band if your guitarist is an atheist?

And it wasnt the religion that judges him there aint shit in the bible about that it was the bands desicion to kick him out

wow they arent judging dude, they are a christian metal band, again as i said before and other peopl have to. you cant call yourself something like a christian band and not practice the christian part or leave out the christian part in your live. its like that for everything you cant tell someone not to do something and you do it. they are not judging. its simple really Christian band Christian members he doesnt believe in God so whats the point of being appart of something he doesnt believe in.

Christianity isn't a religion. Its not man seeking God, its God seeking Man. Those guys made the right choice and fulfilling God's will for that band they were only be successful with that upcoming album. We all need to pray for the band and for Jason, that he'll find his way again. You meet these guys in person and tell me they are all about religion? Yeah right. These are some hardcore Jesus lovers, and religion has no part in that.

There's real judgment here. And they have judged rightly that it would be a bad idea to take an apostate like Jason along with them. They have rightly judged.

"You have rightly judged." --Jesus Christ in Luke 7:43

Prelude to Perfection

I know it was a hard decision, but I admire you for not compromising what you believe.

Although I understand things from Jason's point of view (I used to be a Christian and now question it) you ARE a Christian band and if your purpose is to spread God's love, it would be hypocricy to claim to stand firmly in your beliefs and to represent Christ when you had a member who does not believe at all.

I do pray that both the band and Jason continue on in a positive manner, and that happiness and success follows you all throughout life's journey! God and hope are eternal. Bet wishes, and much love goes out to you all. I look forward to the new cd,and hopefully seeing you all again. Jason...take care bro,and remember you have a TON of people who care about you! I agree with Paul, I am catholic but dont follow it what so ever, yes i believe in God, but he hasnt shown me much love yet...but to kick him out for his beliefs i think is a bad move. I could see if he became a Satan worshipper and then its understandable, but sometime in your life you have to question whats real and whats not, some people get a "sign" or something that lets them know jesus is there, others dont always see that sign, probably what Jason see's, and so far myself. Its sad to see this happen over something so small, Good Luck Jason and Haste The Day....and if its true what they say about Jesus, he never gave up on anyone
