This exchange took place between a model inquiring about shooting with me (anonymous 1) , and someone who recently did (Anonymous 2).
This is 100% unedited.

I thought he was a great photographer. He gave great direction. I am no professional and what do I know? But I have been told photos came out awesome. He made me feel really comfortable and was a complete gentleman during my shoot and has been since there after.

Hopefully this gives you a different perspective on him.

that helps cause ive heard more on the pervy end of things like "go ahead stick it in" "come back and we'll make real art" "ohh your pink parts are soo pretty"

and then i went to his red chair site and closer to the bottom of the page.. they look like straight porn, licking and poking , lip spreading and all.... not my thing.

im very glad you had a good shoot with him

I can see if it isn't your thing where you could concerned about shooting with him. I knew what he shot and I was well informed by him so I knew what to expect going in. I Have been batting around the idea of doing stuff more on the erotic side of the spectrum. Even now I feel he was a great choice of photographer to help me explore that realm. I think the fact that he was not born and raised in the states may have something to do with it. Where some women find him rather forward. I see him as a photographer who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to ask for it and get results therein. He makes no secrets as to what he is looking for when he shoots the Red Chair series. He was not pushy or persuade me to do anything I didn't want to do on camera. You only go as far as you want to you want to go with it and that is it. My experience was great. If you decide to do the series I am sure your shoot will go as equally as well. Just be clear as to what it is you will and will not do and he will respect that.
Peoples reputations can be fragile and I just wanted to make it clear as to how my experience was with him, no if ands or buts you know? In short, he is a nice guy who will give you the upmost respect and knows where to get really good sushi.
Again I hope this gives you a different perspective on him and clarifies some of the questions you had.

Marc, I have shot with you on SEVERAL occasions, and you are getting ready to shoot me again on Saturday. I can't think of another photographer that I'd rather work with and that's why I've asked you to capture me at my peak....after my bodybuilding show. Not only are you creative, but you have an eye for detail that makes you damn near a genius in my book. I have always been comfortable with our shoots, I've never felt "pressured" or "uncomfortable". If anything, your encouragement and perspective have eased my tension and helped to create the great shoots that we have had.

It makes me sad that Girl 1 has "heard" those things about you, but it's obviously lies. Once she shot with you, she'd realize just how fantastic you are and that your photographs are more works of arts than merely moments captured in time.

Be well, my friend, and see you on Saturday!

...complete lies...all lies...~!

I can only say that I have respect for the artist, for the man, for the visionary that is Marc. As previously stated, Marc is a photographer who is not afraid to work past the ordinary...why else would so many people feel so passionately about his work?

Controversy means you are good at what you do and you have the attention of the masses. Who wouldn't want to shoot with someone who makes every model and every image an AMAZING work of art????!!!! Not to mention his skill with lights~!

Don't listen to everything you hear...LIES SPREAD QUICKER THAN WILDFIRE~!

Speak to this man one time and you know he is NO perv...he is a ROCKSTAR!!!!!!!!

Okay, well first off I would like to state that I have the upmost respect for Mr. Marc Goldstein. I have worked with Marc too many times to count now and I have been there for others shoots as well. Never have I seen anything but a brilliant french artist with a beautiful vision.

Time and time again I hear other fellow models freak out about erotic or even silly topless shoots they have done with other photographers. Always putting the blame on the photographer, when the "model" is the one in control of her or his body. As if there was a gun to the head.

Here are a FEW quotes I have heard other models say about shoots with other photographers............ " I didn't want to go so far" "oh no! someone is going to see my nipples" or "What is my mother going to think.. can I blame some one else?" "The photog made me do it" Oh and here is a good one... "I went in for a head shot and ended up sticking my finger in my kitty".... WHAT? Were you one cruse control? Are you a mindless puppet? Give me a break... own your self people........

Okay, so your an adult and you do a photo shoot, You stay for the whole shoot, wait eagerly to see the photos, get awesome fucking photos that no one else would be able to give you, freak out about what society will think and blame the photographer... lame ... ":)

Marc is like a brother to me and more because I can consider him to be one of the great friends I will have in this life time. Anyone who shoots with him is fucking lucky in my opinion...

Bottom line, I would recommend shooting with Marc to anyone. You would be stupid not to.
But come on girls... Look at his work... it is not a secret, If you are NOT game to shoot some beautiful euro-erotic photos, go shoot with someone else.
Maybe you can even get the caution tape or belt around the tits shot you have always wanted...

Love you Marc
xoxo trisha

While I never had the pleasure of sitting in the red chair, I can second these emotions!
Thanks for the absolutely hysterical line "I went in for a head shot and ended up sticking my finger in my kitty"! I'm still laughing! I met Marc randomly & can only say he is an awesome human being! I'd hang out with him happily, if it weren't for 2451 air miles.
Big Kiss Marc,

He is a unique individual with an eye for eroticism.
Extremely respectful and courteous during my shoot. He made SUGGESTIONS for direction but in NO WAY did he ask or tell me to DO anything. He never attempted to touch me during the shoot, never expressed an interest in seeing more. What goes on in a shoot is up to the discretion of the model. ((unless you are not in total control of your own being...and let's face it...every woman can be a bitch (being in total control of herself). If you are a wimp, do not attempt the roller coaster...visit the ferris wheel instead.))

I entered the studio, asked him what to wear. He picked out wardrobe from my selection.
There was no further direction other than: "Please enjoy the chair". Music was playing and we began shooting. At the end of the shoot, I packed up my wardrobe, shook his hand and left. (I had signed the model release prior to leaving the studio).

Women that have worked with Marc...imho...are confidently sexy and aware of their sexuality and presence within the chair. The chair is comfortable, the environment is relaxed. Please take a moment to look at the women who have been in that chair: they are beautiful, sexy, all possessing something unique to their "look" and their "creative" style whether it is about modeling, wardrobe or the ability to express RAW emotion.

If a woman has not modeled previously, then I would suggest not sitting in the chair. I would say it is for "experienced models" only and allows you to be a woman, both beautifully and sensually. This is not "porn" ladies, it is "eroticism and sensuality".

Also, check reputable references before working with anyone. I would highly recommend working with Marc. He has creativity, style and class...all of which are evident in his images and who he agrees to work with. His "aloof" French nature allow him to see women in ways other than many other photographers with whom I have worked (In France, nudity is seen much more often) His perspective is NOT to see a naked woman, but rather to capture her sensuality, individual beauty and the essence of her being! I am grateful for I have been in "the red chair"...it's classier than many magazines with a lighting style that many photographers are unable to replicate.

To all women out there that are interested in working with this photographer: Remember, we are ALL beautiful in our own unique way, we are women. We are strong and know that for today, we do not have breast cancer, we do not have ovarian cancer, etc....we are alive and healthy. Able to sit in a chair that another woman will sit in. She will be faced at some point in her life with similar hardships. Do not be envious and bash the man for allowing him to capture YOU. The experience of working with Marc goes beyond pictures...it is freeing and spiritual, but only if you are open to allowing it.

I was made to feel and look fabulous during a shoot for KCRW's website.

I rarely smile, do not consider myself photogenic, and hate taking pictures.

Marc's professionalism and general coolness assuaged any fears I had before the shoot.

Dude/dudettes - get yourself a Marc Goldstein!

You'll thank me later.

I shot for Red Chair and their was nothing but AWESOME PHOTOS!!

You know everyone has differnet personalities...

He didnt force me to do anything...You see the other photos in Red Chair and kinda know what to expect you know?? He even talked to me before hand.

If you arent comfortable with your body then you probably shouldnt do it! Duh!

This childish bullshit of how is this or that...dude, seriously!!! Do you hear girls asking what is to expect before a Playboy shoot? ...UMmmm...NO! You're gonna get amazing photos in a sexy looking style. So if acting infront of a camera is creepy...step aside for people that are professional to handle it child! haha!

If you have to question and feel uncomfortable...then you probably shouldnt be naked ANYWHERE in front of ANYONES camera!

Marc was way cool and gave me AWESOME pictures for my port. He was very nice and I still talk to him and have shot more than once with him!! I even bug him to shoot more sets!

The problem isnt Marc...it's your own insecurities and your own pervy mind. Nudity is art in any form...even erotic...not may people are brave and can capture the beauty of it.

Marc is a very honest man. there are never secrets about what he would like to see. i did the red chair earlier this week and found it quite comfortable that he was very honest and open about his opinions and what he wants to see in the red chair. it may not be something for anyone, but if you haven't done anything like it before and want to do it, you have to understand the nature of the chair. honestly, the red chair was something a little beyond what ii have ever done, and i was the one that signed up for it knowing what it all entailed. the pictures came out great, i had a blast and honestly, i will probably be working with marc again soon.

hes an awesome person
an amazing artist
and in general a realy nice guy.

if you cannot handle what already been in the red chair, you probably shouldnt be in it. the series is very clear what its, so dont get mad at someone for directing you to do what you agreed to.do in the firstplace.

Hello Kitty Kelly >^..^<

Okay first I have a few things to say.....Marc Goldstein is in a few words...Magnificent, Amazing, fantastic Creator, and a man/photographer that brings out the very best in a woman....

I shot with him this past weekend and not once from the day I first met him to the day I left his studio did I ever feel I was made to do something I didn't want to do, nor did he ever cross any boundaries of mine. He was sweet, caring, and always made sure I was happy and doing good.

I have always been a person to push the extremes and I think I made him do more for me than he made me do for him....so maybe you could say I as the model made him feel overwhelmed.....

The Red Chair experience has been the most erotic, hottest, and sexiest shoot I have ever done...and I would do it over and over and over again....with no doubt or questions in my mind....

Marc Goldstein makes sure he has a conversation with you on the phone before he will even let you in his door to shoot....He wants you to see what you are looking for in the shoot, not what he is looking for...So if you as the model says you want the hottest ever all he is doing is giving to your needs and what you asked.

If you want to make beautiful pictures then Mr. Goldstein is the one to go too....if you can't handle the heat.....get off the fucking pot.....and for anyone to question or assume something about someone without even asking that person directly.....YOU FUCKING SUCK....and you need to go play in the sandbox with the other kids....

Love you Marc....forever and ever....

What Kelly said. I shot with Marc the day after Kelly did. I agree 100%. Such a gentleman!

And as the anoymous person said 'not my thing' well then why would you try to make judgments on a photographer if they shoot something you don't shoot.... If it's 'not your thing' then maybe you shoud be looking elsewhere. It doesn't make any sence.

Models should ask questions before the shoot if they feel you are outside their personal limits. They need to tell you that your work is much racier then what they normally do. Communication is key silly girls.

You didn't push my limits at all. I can feel weather or not a shoot will work based on the rapport gained over the phone. I heard things about you being mean and extermly rude which, I didn't see at all. Most models aren't use to someone being frank with them. They are use to people blowing smoke up their asses. Personally, I cannot stand when someone does that. I also think the fact that you are a typical honest French person doesn't help. Most Americans like everything sugar coated and consider French people like yourself rude.

I had a great time shooting with you and hope we will work together more then once. Not every photographer works well with every model and vice versa.

There's definitely a difference between being assertive and being pushy. Marc was assertive in his creative vision, as The Red Chair is his project. I did not feel pressured to do anything with which I was not comfortable.

I can see how some girls might be turned off by the sexual nature of the shoots. However, this should be an issue that they present before shooting, not at the shoot itself. The Red Chair is a series based on women's sexuality. If you are not comfortable with yourself, your body and your sexuality, this series is not for you.

If you are a confident, sexually aware woman, Marc will make you feel comfortable and beautiful. Even with the explicit nature of the shoot and the pictures taken, I felt comfortable with Marc and felt the shoot was handled professionally. I would shoot with Marc again and would recommend him to any model.

Marc was very professional and nothing less than a gentleman. It was only my sixth shoot and he was very patient and helpful. Also he was very straight forward from the first time I talked to him, blunt, honest and to the point. He made it very clear from the beginning of the shoot that if at any point i felt uncomfortable with anything, we would stop shooting. i had a blast and the pictures are gorgeous! I would definitely shoot with him again!

Just wanted to say WOW! What an awesome experience it was, shooting with Marc, for the Red Chair. He is an amazing photographer who provides great direction and sets the tone for a fabulous erotic shoot! This is what The Red Chair is all about. If you are looking to spice up your portfolio, you will not be disapointed, just be prepared to have an exciting shoot. My images were sent to me before I made it home to the east coast. It was way cool to see hot pics before I had a chance to cool off!!!!!
Thanks Marc, looking foward to a time when we can shoot again.

my 2¢ :)
it is always interesting to see how the world of people view others, we are all unique in our forms and what may upset, frighten, detour, anger, push away etc etc, one person can be a completely different experience for another.
All I can say is that I myself, had reservations about how far I could allow myself to explore my sexuality in front of a stranger, and what exactly the whole shoot was going to go like.
Never once was I pushed to do anything I wasn't secure with, I was given the utmost respect and was allowed to take breaks when needed, and allowed for breathing room when I needed it.
I am extremely happy to have met this wonderful , unique creature who brought a breath of fresh air into my life, and made me feel so warm and welcomed in their presence. I was able to go deeper into me personally and bring out a sensual and sexual side I had not known I could produce in front of a camera.
If any woman has any reservations about shooting with someone, go with your gut instinct, we are all individuals and only you can know what is best for you. Marc is upfront and honest about his intentions and what the shoot will be .. and I can only thank the stars for bringing him into my life and for the hopefully "fabulous" photos that come out of it

first off pink parts are pretty as are all parts. but i cant picture marc actually saying that to a model.

Marc is an amazing photographer. i had a great great time shooting the cube with him and plan to continue shooting with him. he is nothing but a professional. He hires amazing professional hair and makeup artists,
and is a lighting genius. He has an extensive background in art and it shows in his work which being an artist i appriciate.
I had never done a shoot like this one and was nervous to say the least and had all the same bullshit fears about what people may think and whatever but i'm sooo glad i chose to do this with marc.
He didn't talk me into doing anything i wanted to do. i think models are just ashamed of their own sexuality or what they really want to do on the other side of the camera. i love his stuff. its erotic as hell for sure but it's the best erotic photography ive ever seen. I consider him a friend and he has been very helpful to me asking nothing in return, and given me great advice on how to further my career as a model.
everyone who has seen my set believes it my best ever and not because i'm naked but because it everything about it is so fucking amazing
i've heard things like "its so beautiful i forget you're even naked there"
so i'm stoked on the work and fuck what anyone thinks about it.
i love you marc thank you for this gift.

You're going to hear things through the grape vine that aren't always true. Noted in this blog , that's pretty apparent.
Running a business and all, my family and I have worked with Marc for the past year...Not only does he take beautiful photos of people but sweet promotional product photos too. He has been nothing but professional to work with, if he was a perv in fact there is no way my mom would've recommended her daughter to get her pictures done with him. Overall I had am amazing shoot with Marc, he was a complete gentlemen and I couldn't have been happier with the outcome of my photos! He made me feel so comfortable.. in order to get capture a good shot the photographer can help bring out the personality and essense of their subject, he had that affect on me! He's a very passionate.. and you can tell the high caliber of art he creates just by viewing his work. I look forward to working with him again in the future.

As someone who HAS dabbled (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink) in the realms of pornography I can safely say that they is nothing pornographic about Marc or his red chair!

We did a shoot a few days ago and Marc, you are by far one of the nicest, most respectable amd awesome photographers I have ever worked with.
Whoever that girl is in that convo is quite frankley a f**king idiot:

1. because she would even question your integrity for a second.

2.
Because (hopefully) she lost out on having some of the best photographs taken of her life, by one of the worlds most awesome photographers!

Can I get my check now please? JUST KIDDING!

My photo shoot with you was a delightful experience, you were a gentlemen to shoot with and not at all creepy or pervy.
Trust me, I know what that is!

I can't wait to shoot with you again.

Funny. I would have to say that you (Marc) are not pushy at all,.. he gives you good direction while in the chair and makes you giggle. He even helps with making sure wardrobe will go good, very helpful.

Im a fan of erotic photography and I am comfortable doing it. In reply to people like Anonymous1...Anyone who likes something but then avoids it totally off of here say probably shouldnt be doing it anyways. It isnt for everyone but somehow that makes me like it more :) That being said if more erotic photography is something you are newly interested in Id definitely recommend starting out with Marc. Great person, Great personality, Great series, Great pictures.

I was in the red chair for like nine hours, and loved every second of it.

After having discussed the possiblity of shooting over email, I actually went to the site before blindly agreeing to work with Marc. So I kinda had an idea of what to expect, a range of what to expect based upon what boundaries I established for myself. Obviously The Red Chair is erotically charged imagery, combined with a model's individual characteristics and emotion. I am completely comfortable and perhaps even enthusiatic about that type of art.

I arrived with Anna Stevens, Marc was kind, funny and pretty chill. While Anna was having her make up done, Marc and I talked about this and that, interesting guy. The make up gal was so nice (Give her a big hug for me). He did try to encorage her to join the photoshoot, but that was just silliness. Aside from providing makeup, Marc offered us snacks and tried to make sure we were comfortable. True, that he was candid about which outfits he perferred for the project, and why, but I don't see any offense in that. Some people are sensitive.

Anna and I had a very close relationship, and we definetly wanted to convey some of that chemistry, perhaps the imagry is a little intense for some people's portfolio, but Anna and I we interested in getting very beautiful imagery of the raw sexuality between us. Mission accomplished.

Not only did Marc provide make up and snacks and good conversation, but he also provided a male model. This shoot was kinda up in the air, we were unsure how things would progress. However, after he arrived and Anna and I finished our set, we all kinda talked about what the shoot would be like. Very hot concept btw.

The set with the male model started out as intended, but it seems that me and the male talent pushed some boundaries and explored realms sexuality that I don't think any of us REALLY antisipated. However even when boundaries were pushed it was openly discussed that me and the male talent would likely be writhing on the floor together like filthy animals. So yeah our images are intensely erotic, but Marc didn't make me do anyting that I didn't want to do, he wasn't pushy, the images are awesome and I'd totally do it again.

MODELS BE WARNED: YOU WILL GET GORGEOUS IMAGES IF YOU WORK WITH MARC GOLDSTEIN

but the how far you take the eroticism is up to you

Everyone gossips but you'll never know until you find out yourself.

I have enjoyed my experience with working with Marc and being in the Red Chair for the second time and not the last.
No Drama! No Crazy Mess! Just shoot me sexy! Thx Marc!

I shot with Marc about a week and a half ago, and LOVED it.

He never pushed me to do anything I was uncomfortable with, and was very helpful with posing. He also provided great feedback while shooting about what looked good. He helped pick wardrobe, had major input with the hair/makeup and seems a bit obsessed with shoes for a straight man.
;)

The images I've seen so far have turned out amazing. He was quick about getting 35+ shots done within just a few days of our shoot, which is extremely unusual and very appreciated.

Give Jessica a kiss for me! ;) Hopefully we'll get time to shoot again soon! I can hear "cube" calling me!

When will people learn that you can't believe everything you hear? I think it's just in some people's nature to gossip and talk shit about others, lol. I'm not going to lie, people "warned" me about doing the Red Chair because of stuff they heard. But I'd talked to Marc myself and could tell that he was an awesome person.

We first talked when I had just barely started doing nudes. I was interested in The Red Chair, but didn't feel I was ready at the time. He said fine, no problem, and didn't push me about it. Then I started exploring erotica and my own sexuality and knew that it was finally time for The Red Chair. So I talked to Marc again and said that I was ready. We were both excited and even more excited that it would be with my girl Vickie. I knew what I was getting into from the start; it is an erotic shoot after all. People who aren't comfortable with that shouldn't even try to do the Red Chair because it will show in their photos and probably won't be a good shoot overall.

But I was perfectly comfortable and Marc helped me feel that way. He's so fun and easygoing. He made me laugh a lot and listened to what I had to say. The shoot went incredibly well and we got some super HOT pictures (can't wait to see them all)! He even offered great advice about things not related to modeling.
I still appreciate that so much ;)

Anyway, Marc is a very special person. I had an awesome time shooting and hanging out with him.
I have no doubt that you will too if you just take the chance and don't believe the rumors!

I just recently shot with Marc; our shoot turned out to be an experience I will forever remember! Marc is an extremely talented visionary who sees things in a different light than most, but that is what is so special about him and what sets him apart from all the rest.

Before I shot with him, he took the time to talk with me on the phone, mentoring me (I'm a new model) on the industry's do's and don'ts according to what he's seen and been through throughout his years as a photographer. It meant a lot to me, that somebody would take the time out to steer me in the right direction for my modeling career.

Once I actually got to the shoot and I met Marc, I found him to be quite the gentleman, helping me with bags, inviting me into his home and even spotting for half of the rented jewelry for our shoot! Who does that? Not many people! He even bought me lunch. The guy is TOP NOTCH. Not once did he try to hit on me or act unprofessional in any way. He is a genuine, unique, funny, out-spoken, talented photographer who is damn good at what he does. His work speaks for itself.

I would definitely work with him again, and most importantly I feel I have gained a friend from my shoot with him. I feel comfortable going to him with any and all questions or advice I might come across in the industry, why? Cuz he genuinely cares and I appreciate him and all he has done for me.

I agree with Anonymous #2, he explained everything before I went in and was great in every way. I have worked with some real works of art in erotic work and he is nothing but a professional and worth working with. XOXO

I had a wonderful shoot with marc. Everything was explained before hand, so you should know what kind of a shoot you're getting into and know what to expect..that's the way this side of the industry is. All of these rumors are silly.

I thank Marc for a great day, he is mad as a bag of cats just like me, crazy/genius is what I call it.  The fact is that Marc is unique and incredibly talented and he is actually exactly similar to me when I am directing, straight and to the point.  He knows exactly how to make you feel wonderful and look beautiful.  I model all the time and he taught me a thing or too and I was not bored for one minute, it was an honour to be photographed by him.

I can't think of one reason why Marc should worry about what one person has said, I know many more shady models than I do Photographers/Artists, so shoot with Marc be relaxed and enjoy the experience.

But Marc you really need to stock up on the great British cuppa!!

Warning this man has no TEA!!

Big Kiss Marc for the day. XX

Not sure how my previous comment was deleted, possibly due to my page being deleted. Anyways... I've done the red chair twice already and thoroughly enjoyed both times. Hell, I wouldn't have came back for the 2nd round if I didn't feel at ease with it. He made me feel comfy and he knows what works to create a great image. Marc is fantabulous! If you're a model that is comfy doing more erotic work, then you definitely need to go a round in the red chair :)

What an invigorating experience! I am a deaf woman who was looking for a fun and slightly erotic (but not pornographic) experience I could do together. In all of my preliminary discussions with Marc, he was very friendly and professional. I was impressed with Marc's website, his referrals and in speaking with him through email. He immediately put me at ease as the session began and really tried to translate my personality into the poses he suggested. He gave great direction. I had an amazing time. The immediate computer feedback from his digital camera helped me to see what he saw and made me realize that I would look good in the shots. What resulted was a large selection of very tasteful and beautiful photos. My session was AMAZING!!!!! My pictures are way more than what I expected, and I am so pleased. Marc made me feel really comfortable and was a complete gentleman during my shoot and has been since there after. He was very personable and worked with me to get the images I wanted. I looked and felt beautiful!!!! Thank you!!!

Best of all, you can trust Marc.
