HISTORY
Brown Girls Burlesque (BGB) was formed in 2007 by Miss AuroraBoobRealis who approached other women of color and began a dialogue about Burlesque. Through these discussions she found many fans of burlesque who, although agreed that Burlesque was a reflection of real women with real bodies, also felt frustrated by rarely seeing themselves reflected on stage. The collective was born and includes women from backgrounds of dance, writing and theater. BGB's commitment is to create a bigger presence of women of color on the Burlesque stage.

Miss AuroraBoobRealis lights up the night stage with her unique mixture of raw and earthy, wild and fearless burlesque. Born along a stream, raised in a coven of pagan lesbians witches, Miss AuroraBoobRealis learned from a young age how to appreciate her body and now she shares it with the world.

Chicava HoneyChild

Chicava HoneyChild was born on the coast of Mina to a tribal lord. Abducted and taken to 18th century Spain. She got to dance, eat paella and hang with her brethren Moors. All was going pretty good in captivity until "they" tried to force her hand in marriage. Chicava promptly rushed off to a convent where she became venerated as St. Theresa Juliana and did that miracle worker healer thing. Fresh into her new incarnation, Chicava has some bump 'n' grind healing to do.

Coco Mackentire

Coco Mackentire was born and bred in Brooklyn on a hyphen of cultures and heritages. She takes to the stage with the nonchalance of entering a crowded elevator or subway car. A lady who has always known what kind of sexy she wants; Coco Mackentire was able to convince her dad at the tender age of four to purchase black patent-leather peep-toe heels for her Easter outfit. Since then she's been rocking heels BK style all over the world. Nothing, not one thing surprises Coco Mackentire, she's seen and heard it all and couldn't possibly write better drama than her surroundings provide. Dame CuchiFrita

Baby Cuchifrita was born in the foot of the volcanic mountain in the middle of rice paddy field during the Monsoon season in a paradise island. As the only child of the village chief, Lil Cuchi 's rebellious wild streak, which was cultivated in her mother's womb, drew the chief's concern. Being the only child, he took her under his protective wing and bestowed upon her various trades, among them his notorious hunting skill, (yes the Chief was known to kill two boars at once w/ one arrow head). All this in the hope that he would tame her flaring temper and refocus her energy.

Growing up most loved and privileged, sparked a lot of jealousy among the tribes peoples. Young Cuchifrita was then accused of witchcraft and chased from the Island of the Gods, bringing w/ her a healing elixir that is the source of her people's vitality, youth & vigor.

Her fighting spirit kept her alive despite the odds, surviving the tropical jungle, she gained strength from eating a diet mainly of wild boar and sugar cane. She fled and landed in the New World only to find a different kind of jungle, one of concrete. Still chased by her people to this day, Dame Cuchi developed many ways of disguising herself in order to remain incognito.

A huntress, a warrior, a glamour puss, she will always be on the run ….

Lady Luscious was born on a steamy morning, just before sunrise, east of where the wild things are, in a luxurious grove of fragrant poppies known to cause delusions, sexual stamina, and heartbreak. At an age far to young to be wearing jelly stilettos and sequin hot pants, Luscious left the grove to follow a band of traveling Drag Gypsies who taught her their many trades. Years on the stages, parks, abandoned pools, train platforms and circus tents of Americas underground inspired her to move into New York City to pursue her dreams of experimental cross-drag swingin' scintillation arts. And to just shake it till she makes it - oh so lusciously.

Miss Southern Comfort hails from the old southern city of Savannah Georgia. Raised by a grandfather famous for his bathtub moonshine and a grandmother, a renowned voodoo priestess, she learned the magic of intoxication and enchantment. At the age of thirteen, saving money from a kissing booth business she ran with the local cute brown girls, she started taking etiquette lessons from the women at the Sophisticated Black Women's Tea and Bridge Club. Selling her grandmothers all-powerful aphrodisiacs and dancing a dive joints from state to state she ended up in the Big Apple.
She's a sweet little southern thang but cross her and she'll put a spell on you!

Experiening music and socializing at the sweet age of 15, drove Suga' to turn out the crowds at the door or Disco 2000 and many other now infamous and dephunked clubs and parties. She's sure you've crossed her path one time or another. Now years later after spawning an off-spring, becoming a housewife and slowing down, she's ready to pick up where she left off and put on her dancing shoes, in order to make you wonder what the millennium's definition of a MILF is. Madame Chuli Chulin floated to North American shores with bounce and flounce, flip flops and a weathered tag around her wrist that read "hecho en costa rica, cuidado." Upon arrival she found her way to the nearest fruit stand and said "yo quiero todo." She was last seen selling the fruits of her labor on a raft up and down the Hudson River.
