So everyone keep their fingers crossed - as REPO has now been sent, and now in hands of the producers. That's right - I have sent off the movie to be screened by the hollywoods EXEC'S. I guess I should be scared - as screening for producers is always a nail biting experience - and even more so with a movie like this... But I feel good... no, not good - great - about this movie, and WHAT IT IS...

Yesterday I spent a large portion of the day at Deluxe doing color timing on a scene from REPO - basically setting 'a look'. I got chills! Joe White the DP did a fucking KILLER job - with his style and what Deluxe is doing - this movie will look like something DIRECTLY out of a fairy tale!



On a completely other note - I spoke to David Hackl yesterday... As most of you know David is directing SAW V... I have to be honest - it's a hard pill to swallow... Handing over the baton - - passing the torch - - call it what you will... But for the last three years SAW has been my life... Last week, they opened up the preproduction office for V. It feels strange not to be there... It feels even stranger knowing that those production offices are only two blocks from where I am now... But, I feel confident in the fact that the franchise is in great hands with David - and that it was time for me to move on...

If I have my way - I am only leaving one franchise to start another! Maybe this time next year as SAW VI is gearing up - I will working on REPO II... One can only dream...

love to see the look on their faces when they watch this movie for the first time. i saw the sneak peek during the Scream Awards and i thought - "this movie is insane! they'll NEVER give it an R rating!"

Great news Darren!! I can't wait for Repo its almost here!! I'm really looking forward to SAW V and I would be waiting for Repo 2 if you decide to make another which im sure the first one is gonna be awesome just like the Saw films you made!

SAW will ALWAYS be a part of you - no matter what, dude ;) GOOD LUCK with the exec. screenings of REPO! Hopefully after seeing what you have gotten away with in Saw 3 and IV -
REPO won't have to get cut down too much...as far as violence/gore is concerned.

You should try and sneak over to the SAW V production office sometime to see what's up...seeing as you are only a few blocks from there, lol :P

You have no idea how excited I am. I downloaded Zytrate Anatomy and Choice from the original production. When it gets through it will be wide erlease, right? I would hate to have to see it in select theaters.
Because the ones close to me are never selected. Haha.

Ahh, to think that man was only a few miles from my house at one time, on the set of Night of the Living Dead (remake). Too bad I was only 2 at the time. But from what I hear he's going to be in Pittsburgh at some convention with Ken Foree. That is going to rock! I hope he does some press for REPO then! I seriously cannot wait for Repo. April is too freaking far from now!


It's going to be weird watching the opening to Saw V, and its going to say "A David Hackl Film" instead of "A Darren Lynn Bousman Film" That is when I will officially have the epiphany that you aren't directing it! But till then, it still feels like you're the director! :p

Anyways, Good luck with the producers. Although, I doubt you'll need it! :)

I guess I missed this blog when you posted but I wanted to say I hope David Hackl does a great job with SAW because it's SAW and then it would be really cool to see James get back in the director's chair for the final movie. Start the first finish the last. But are you working on any part of SAW? Story? anything? reply if you get the time. Also can't wait for repo!
