Its crazy that society has made it in a way that two black women who are both successful at the same time, is somewhat competition or a threat to each other. Its something so trivial but yet it's been that way so long ie. Tyra and Naomi. Both of them came out at around the same time and both women offered different looks but yet society couldn't or had a hard time excepting both as two different beautiful models. Let me just tell you that I love you for who you are and what you offer and that you are truly an inspiration to me for coming up the way you did and believing and God and his plan, while I totally respect Beyonce for the things she has done and her talents. I know its frustrating whats going on but you know what I'm not sure if this will ever change and this is something that will ever change. Congragulations on scoring the cover of vogue and I defenitely look forward to supporting you and all that you do. God bless you girl.

Jennifer, it is really sad that everything has to be a competition. It gets on my nerves as well. All I can say is that, misery loves company and the devil is a liar. Some people do not want to see anyone succeed and be happy without trying to throw some turmoil in their life. It amazes me that these people have nothing else better to do with their time. Girl, do not bog yourself down with the nonsense that is being stirred because of your success. God has sent you down this path for a reason. All of these people trying to start mess are stumbling blocks. But, honey, keep on marching to your own beat. They will eventually run out of stuff to say and move on. some people (well most people) are petty, and they are followers, its like a gang mentality people have. People always have to be one or the other, never in the middle. I for one am happy that you and Bey are both on covers in the same month. Thats a great achievement. Others just jump on the bandwagon, of course people wanna see tension between you and Beyonce, because its something to talk about. You are interesting enough to have rumours made up about you. I find it sad and boring, as i only care about what you have to offer creatively (i cant wait for your album!). Eh..just leave those fools. Time will pass and they'll stop talkin about you. The real reason why people find the need to talk about the so called competition is the movie 'Dreamgirls'. Some people find it hard to separate reality from fiction, and seeing as Beyonce was the lead singer in DC it seems to resonate the same on screen-uknow. People have made their minds up about Beyonce and what she might be like, so any news of tension between you two is just re-affirming. But let them think what they want to think. You've got the right idea, Just do 'you'. its sad that other people out there are so pathetic they have to live vicariously through others and create problems out of nowhere.

Haters are something Beyonce's had to deal with since the beginning of her career. I'm not gonna lie, I used to hate on Beyonce back in the Destiny's Child days because I felt that she was getting too much spotlight. But then, when she did Divas Duets back in 2002, I fell in love with her when I realized that she is actually a very talented individual and an outstanding performer. However, some people were never able to realize that and will continue to compare her to every other talented woman in the business just to put her down.

Dreamgirls has always been one of my favorite musicals. I've watched the original on tape several times, and my high school (Uniondale, NY) put on a production of it, after which Sheryl Lee Ralph came out and spoke to the audience and the cast. Honestly, I loved you in American Idol, but I feared that you wouldn't be able to fill Jennifer Holliday's shoes. But boy was I wrong???? I felt you did a MARVELOUS job at recreating the role of Effie, however I would never compare you to Beyonce. Deena and Effie are such different characters, that to compare the two actresses who play them is simply absurd. You both were great in your own ways; You made me cry during "And I'm telling you I'm not going" and I felt a sense of pride when Deena finally left Curtis. I actually loved the entire cast. Whoever did the casting was definately on point. I'm so happy you received the role because it proved Simon wrong and proved to the world that Jennifer Hudson is a force to be reckoned with and that we will be seeing much more from you in the years to come.

So don't worry about what people say, just keep doing you because that's what's so great about you. On American Idol, your personality stood out (and so did that pink dress...lol. I actually thought it was very cute, btw) and in Dreamgirls your personality was able to shine through your acting. People will always compare you to others, but that's just human nature. Everybody's gotta have something to talk about, right? (I don't personally believe it, but its definately true).

FACT: People love drama (whether they admit it or not)

And the driving force behind all this media driven drama probably began with the media underestimating you. But, to spruce up the story, why not add the idea that two successful, talented, black women are jealous of one another. Sells more papers. That's just the business.

But apparently, according to the posts to this thread, most of your fans are do not seem to be paying much attention to it, right now.  But be careful of what you say. The media can "twist" and give a new meaning to almost anything and I have the feeling that if you said that you were treated badly by ANY celebrity, half the world would come running to your aid and you may inadvertently put a dent in someone else's career. 

Just continue doing you and don't give the drama queen's anything to "twist". 

Perhaps it was best that your first big, media drama story involved someone like Beyonce. What I mean is that, for those who may have forgotten, no matter what drama Beyonce has been caught up in or the media has tried to put her in, she has NEVER, to my knowledge, said anything negative about anyone, on the record, when she was given plenty of opportunities to.  You may have been blesses in this. 

If hate must come with success, at least it came with someone who has too many years experience dealing with it.  Everything happens for a reason, the reason for Beyonce being selected as your "competition" by the media could possibly be to ease you into the less attractive side of showbiz; to help toughen you up so that you will have a little more experience dealing with haters before moving on to your next big step.  Remember, there were other big stars in the movie, including an accomplished broadway actress, yet the story revolves around you and B.  It is not always our place to question it, just learn as much as you can from it and use it to make you a better person.

Jennifer, do Jennifer. You are talented and you can hold your own. Let your gifting speak for you.

Don't let such things get to you. Get all that you can while it's being offered to you. It's not competition its BUSINESS! Stay grounded and stay humbled. Know who God is and He will take care of the rest. Many blessings to you.

It is sad that others have to put someone else down in order to support someone else.  Do they think the other person will be jealous?? People who do this seem to have a shallow perspective on life and low self worth ........just a thought.

Jennifer, I feel you, but I am going to be real with you for a moment.  When I look at a picture, I look and see what it is saying to me.  What message is it sending out to the world?  As a Christian man, seeing you on the cover of Vogue blessed my spirit, whereas I couldn't focus on Beyonce's cover, because it seems to be a possible stumbling block.  That doesn't mean that I want to put her down or that I think less of her as a human being, it's just that when offered a choice I PREFER to look at the photography spread that you appear in.  I think it speaks true beauty and positivity and not something lustful or sexual.  I think that many people may have those same feelings but, due to the way our society is, can't express it without putting something/someone down.  Remember America is an "either-or" society. Angelina or Jennifer A./ J-Lo or Shakira/JHud or Beyonce!  A sad fact, but nevertheless a fact. 

   You keep doing what you're doing and honoring God, and he'll continue to honor you!  Much peace and many blessings!

You know jhud, peoples are always comparing one to the other, which is a bad situation for an artist to be placed at times. A slew of people get together and along with the media they create what is called a negative outcome if you allow them to. Folks that is miserable can't ever see anything positive, and support/ appreciate the good quality in each indivisual. They are to blinded by their own negative thoughts and hate of seeing one doing well . Never allow any of that negativity to blindside you or get in your way,  you are way to far ahead of the ballgame for it. Stay posituve and continue to give it from the heart and your soul.  When u do your thing, regardless if be acting / singing, even  your communication skill are at a high level of intelligence.  I know that you are a child of God, and God will always lead his child away from unhealthy situations, only if u let him lead you. I have to agree with Reji.  I think that what you are going through Jennifer is what Hollywood is Nitorious for.  Bringing all the dirt to surface.  This is what so many on this myspace is striving for.  FAME and they get a piece of it and they are not ready for it!  It's overwhelming.  I am so sorry that you are getting a taste of the UGLY side of it.  This comes with the job jennifer.  Do know like many of us, whether you are in Hollywood or striving to do what you do at your regular 9 to5,  we all know what's it's like to have to prove yourself.  To have to compete for something.  Someone is always trying to break your spirit.  But know your not alone.

Hey Jenny baby. I don't know how soon you will get to read this since so many people have typed before me. But I'mma add my two cents to this right quick. I knew it would be a matter of time before you were alerted about this whole mess. Let's break this down. The media needs something to talk about first and foremost. The fact that Beyonce was originally touted at the lead in Dreamgirls made people including her crazy ass stans (a stan is a big fan of someone magnified like 1000% to the point where they are pretty much obsessed with a celebrity. They defend this person at all costs even when they are wrong and knock anyone who is considered "competition" to their favorite performer) think that this would be Beyonce's big break. When the movie comes out they see this talented lady from Chicago and American Idol blew the roof off the sucker. (Just like I knew you would) Being that Beyonce has been in the spotlight for so long (up front in DC and a huge solo success) people think she is a diva and will not take a backseat to anyone. Even tho it wasnt your intention to upstage everyone in the movie, you did and now the world is singing the praises of Jennifer Hudson just like they should be cuz you are just as talented as the rest. The reaction of the stans, haters, and negative media personnell?  Whats the big deal about this Jennifer Hudson girl? How is that she is getting all this glory after just one film? Who does she think she is taking the spotlight from Beyonce? I'll tell you how. Because you absolutely deserve your time in the sun. Not taking anything away from Bee because she is talented in her own right but you have truly come out shining like a true star in the end and thats exactly the way that GOD planned it. You are truly on the path to greatness and as sad and small minded as it is people simply dont want to see you succeed. But you are going to and you are going to go SO VERY FAR. They will throw things in there about you like "Oh she's too big" or "She's too dark" or something mean and hateful but it doesnt matter. I could say dont let it hurt you but I cant because there will be some trying times for you in this business. You already know that words do in fact hurt.
