That's pure craziness! But, you know what they say about absolute power? Ain't much you'll refuse with gun in your cheek. What a minister!

Reminds me of the shock I got when I went to Paris back in 98'. Semi-Automatics in the airport like gymbags. Can you say culture *SHOCK* ? Or maybe reality check, eh?

May you be a PEACE of the shooting star that wipes out these dinosaurs running the joint right now. Keep it up, and don't let them fool ya!
India's wicked - see all there is to see in the land of mystics and MTV.

hey, they did that to me in Nepal and Pakistan too, just put your money in your shoe and keep a tiny bit in your wallet and when they ask, just say you don't have much and give them what you have in your wallet (I kept like 400 rupees in mine so I wouldn't lose much). Good luck and stay safe :)

Ay Maya, r u still in India?
Well I came across some information for you and I've been deliberating on whether or not I should post it.
But fuckit here it goes. It only pertains to you, so I'll give you a chance to read it and maybe I'll delete it after a while if it takes up to much space.

I'm working on sculpting a self portrait of myself as Ardhnarishwara the hermaphrodite form of 1/2 Shiva and 1/2 Shakti. So I started looking up info on manifestation of the great mother goddess.
You know Parvati, Kali and them and
Your name came up,
Mathangi.

Mathangi is the goddess of manifest sound.
Music
Art
Intellect/Wisdom.

(Sounds Like M.I.A right?)

Just incase your as lazy as I am I'll spell it all out for you so you don't have to do much research.

Mathangi is the 9th incarnation of the Goddess.
She is called Mathangi after her father Mathag. A jungle chief and scholar born into the lowest class. Her father was against the caste system and believed that he could rise to wisdom and enlightenment through his deeds and refused to be held down due to caste and color. After all his hard work, as a reward the Goddess promised him that she who be born to him as his daughter Mathangi.

The prefix Matha is thought (her father being a scholar).
"Mathi is the thinking mind and Matha is thought.
When the word fashioned by the heart and formulated by the mind is expressed it is Mathangi.
Raja Mathangi was the Goddess presiding over Manifestation. Through her, thought becomes “word”, unmanifest “sound” is struck into music, ideas unfold into expression, potential becomes “being”. Divine Consciousness becomes the created Universe.
Raja Mathangi is the highest of the Goddesses in that She allows all their powers and principles to be realized." (I just copied this part from a web page I figured they could explain that shit)".

But any way.... Mathangi is unintelligible sound. ex. The ringing sound you hear when you chant OM.
Mathangi is the outcaste goddess, darkskinned, with long untamed hair.
Her beauty is unmatched and with it she lures demons to destroy them.
She is music, art, intellect and dance.
She dwells outside society, and represents the turning of the mainstream culture asunder.
Mathangi is of the forest and she represents the poor, the beggar those who are displaced and have no place.
And yes Mathangi is a goddess who represents Child Prostitutes, who are called after her name.
But unlike the girl in your song "10 dollar", these girls have to give it up for free.

But Yo,
I've read some claim that Mathangi was a goddess created by the caste system to hold the people down. However some believe Mathangi is a pre-Arayan invasion goddess that survived, to bring victory to the people. The poor the outcaste.

While young girls forced into prostitution are called Mathangi after the goddess, during festivals of Mathangi these young women can completely dis the "higher castes" unchecked, because they embody the goddess and are under her protection.
Weather it's the caste system the colonial system the imperial system all systems are the same.

I know you call yourself M.I.A
AKA Maya
but Mathangi is your given name right?

(I didn't look into your last name ArularpragaIcan'tspellthat. My name means "A ruler" but all I hope to rule is myself, but I think we are called after a name for a reason).

The simularieties to you Maya and the Goddess Mathangi were just too deep.
I felt that I should go on ahead and pass this info on to you.
You don't seem to check your mail so I figured I'd just post it up. You know.
I figured you are humble enough not to go around Big Upping Yourself as the Goddess of sound,
your just starting out.
But I thought I should let you know just incase you were wondering.
Then you can do with the information what you will.

P.S Hey Yo,
I know it's hard enough trying to figure out who YOU are without playing out some role as a Goddess.
You being you is enough.
