Die Sister Die! are a new band for me but since Squeaky from Fabulous Disaster is in the band there was no way I weren't going to give this band an interview. This lady kicks ass and is one of the best guitarists I've ever seen play. Oh and she's a cutie too. On top of that another band member happens to be in 'The Grannies' a kick ass Rock N Roll band that I love too!

Squeaky was also kind enough to send me some preview tracks which I really enjoyed and all I can say on the back of that this American three piece really do deserve to be heard. I was left very impressed.

Anyway to help promote their forthcoming US Tour was another reason to do an interview with these guys so here's what they had to say for themselves.

Street Voice: First off can you introduce the band to our readers please?

Michael – Bass & Vocals
Mic- Drums
Squeaky- Guitar & Vocals

Street Voice: You're just about to go off on tour so you all looking forward to it?

Squeaky: Always!!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing my friends, drinking some beers, getting naked ... just having a good wholesome time.

Michael: Yeah, I'm looking forward to the flatulence (mostly mine) , ridicule, and affection that I get from being on the road w the two people I love the most. I also look forward to playing music every night, that's all I really want outta life. That and cookies.

Street Voice: What bands are you going to be sharing stages with?

Squeaky: Some of my faves .... Ms Led from Seattle , our dear friends Shockbox from Reno , Lowball from Portland and some awesome ladies from Bakersfield called Three Chord Whore. There are a ton more great bands but these are the ones I'm looking forward to the most.

Street Voice: There's an EP due to be released in the Fall so can our readers have some details like who's going to be releasing it etc etc?

Michael: It's actually going to be a full-length album. Squeaky can tell you more about the release of it. We recorded it in April at House Of Faith in Oakland with Bart Thurber. We're gonna call it Funnel Cakes & Elephant Ears. Is that the best album title you've ever heard or what? We all agreed on that right away. It was the easiest decision we've ever made as a band and I'm really proud of it. Not just the title but the whole album. This is the best thing I've ever been a part of...could you pass me one of those tissues?

Squeaky-Well the full length will be released this fall/winter, we are still working out details with a label. The EP we did ourselves to hold us over till the real rock hits ..... did i just say that?

Street Voice: How did you guys get together as a band?

Squeaky- FATE!

Mic: Michael and myself have been playing music together since 99. After our last band disbanded, Michael and I went looking for a guitar player that could match our intensity and passion for music. Then we found squeaky. It was like love at first site, from the very beginning, there was an instant bound between us that is amazing. the energy on stage and in our music is the most amazing thing i have been a apart of. with the three of of us there is such diversity that together makes something amazing.

Michael: There are 3 sides to this story so if you want them all I'll give the condensed version of mine: Before we actually met, Squeaky thought I was the biggest douche-bag, then she saw me in a dress, on stage w The Grannies. After that she stalked me until I agreed to be in a band w her.

Squeaky- And that was the biggest mistake I ever made!!

Michael: Mic and I have been playing together for almost 10 years, he's my favorite drummer and one of the best friends I've ever had. We were working on some shit at the time and we did need a guitarist but Mic had two criteria. 1, that they at least own a Les Paul, and 2, that they are one of a fucking kind, rock solid, beautiful, talented and buck wild on stage. well Squeaky does own a Les Paul so we decided to give her a shot.

Squeaky- These boys sure are long winded arent they?!

Street Voice: So who writes the lyrics and what inspires them to write the way that they do?

Michael: Squeaky writes some of the lyrics, I write some, some we write together. Mic tried once, we don't let him any more. Lots of different shit inspires me. Music, relationships, the people around me, Mic, Squeaky, etc, etc...

Street Voice: Squeaky how do you find time to play with all the bands you're part of?

Squeaky- I dont!!!!!!

Street Voice: And when are we going to get married Squeaky?

Squeaky: Give me the date, health insurance and a plane ticket an I'm there!

The ticket is on it's way!!!!

Mic- Shes already married, to the music.

Street Voice: So apart from the tour and the EP release what other plans have you guys for 2007?

Squeaky: To become the next American Idol.

Michael: Possibly more recording as we're still writing, definitely more shows, and whatever else we feel like doing at the time. We've got lot's of ideas but until they're actually plans I'd like to keep them to ourselves.

Mic- More recording at the end of the year and as much touring as possible.

Street Voice: Anything you'd like to add?

Mic: Look out here we come hahahahahah.

Michael: Come see us when we're in your town. Come talk to me when you do, I like to meet people.

Squeaky: Don't talk to me at shows, i dont like to meet people. xoxoxoxox

Thanks to Die Sister Die! for doing the interview. Hopefully some of you readers will catch this three piece on tour and if you do I hope you have a blast. As I said a band well worth checking out if you like good hard Rock N Roll.
