I first saw Jasper James when I was flicking through the Folter Clothing website and a couple of days later by chance I found her on My Space. After reading her site this is one alternative model I wanted to do something with so here it is a full interview with the lady herself.
Street Voice: First off can you introduce yourself to our readers please?
JJ: Hi everyone, I'm Jasper James
Street Voice: So what inspired you to be come a model in the first place?
JJ: I worked at a salon last year and one of the best make-up artists and hair stylists, Christopher Montoya, worked there with me. I had been into the era and into pinup/tattooed modeling, but never thought I could be a part of the industry.
Street Voice: When you first started out as a model were there any models out there that gave you ideas?
JJ: There weren't any models specifically, I had the pleasure of shooting my first shoot with Shannon Brooke and then soon thereafter met the amazing Angel Jagger. Those ladies were such an inspiration and they gave me the honest scoop on the ins and outs of the business.

Street Voice: Do you just do pin up?
JJ: I don't limit myself to just pin up. I have shot punk, gothic, and tattooed themed shoots as well.
Street Voice: Have you ever done any nude modeling and if not would you do it if it meant furthering your career?
JJ: I have done what is called "implied nudity" where you are basically topless with something covering your naughty bits. I will never do nude work, whether it be tasteful or not to further my career, or for any reason actually.
Street Voice: I see you worked for Folter as a model? My partner has a beater top which Agnes sent over as I ran an interview with her a couple of years back. What did you make of their clothing?
JJ: Folter's clothing is AMAZING! They have such a unique gift of design that speaks to all walks of life, with some of the most creative ideas in design I've ever seen.
Street Voice: Apart from Folter what other magazines/clothing outlets you modeled for?
JJ: I've worked with alot of clothing designers. Some of the most recent are Mother May I Clothing,Poison Candy, Junker,Bettie B Dangerous Swimwear, and Angelique Boutique with many more coming up in the next two months. I have been in Punk Rock Confidential and have some upcoming covers such as Tattoo Energy Europe coming up in September and also the very first issue of Tattoo Energy in the United States in November!!

Street Voice: You have a passion for tattoos so how many have you got?
JJ: I have two on my back, two on my neck and most of my arms almost complete, as well as some stars on my hands and my foot.
Street Voice: How much of your body will you eventually tattoo?
JJ: Getting tattooed has become a passion of mine. Some people paint to express themselves, I get tattooed. By the time I am finished, I will have both sleeves finished, my entire back, some more on my neck, my midsection, ribs, and both feet and lower legs (ankles).
Street Voice: What is the tattoo that has most meaning for you?
JJ: The traditional piece on my left arm that consists of two sparrows with a banner between them saying "This too shall pass" This is someting that my grandparents who helped raise me would always tell me when things got tough. My grandmother has since passed away and the sparrows represent her and my grandfather to me.
Street Voice: Any bands that you'd like to plug?
JJ: Definitely. Check out : The Royal Heist (formerly The Scene), Oh No Not Stereo, Ghostland Observatory, OK Stranger, The Ringers, Dirty Kings, and Devil's Orchestra. All of these bands not only have the most amazing music you've ever heard, they are by far some of the nicest and most down to earth guys I've ever met. Check them out, you can find them and their music on myspace!!!

Street Voice: Aside from modeling what else do you get up to?
JJ: I like to just spend my downtime working on new ideas and concepts for collaborations with designers and photographers. I also spend as much time as I can going to concerts and listening to music. It plays such a major role in my life.
Street Voice: You're a very beautiful woman with an amazing figure so do you work out much?
JJ: Oh no. You had to go there!! HaHa. I don't work out as much as I should be. When getting ready for a series of shoots or events, I will work out quite regularly and maintain a pretty steady diet. If there's no shoots though, call me Miss Lazy!
Street Voice: What are your plans for the rest of 2007?
JJ: I'm working right now with about 30-40 designers, setting up shoots for them that will be released within the next few months. I will also be shooting for 3 more tattoo magazine covers, 2 Hot Rod and choppers magazines covers, and 2 concept coffee table books and a couple calendars for 2008/2009. I'm also trying to plan a trip later this year.. I need a vacation!!!! =)
