While many female independent artists are prepared to sit back and write power pop/pop tunes the same can't be said of Pamela Moore. This lady's work is more creative and in going this route Pamela has managed to write one of the best albums I've heard this year. After hearing 'Stories From A Blue Room' I decided to sent an interview off and below is what Pamela Moore has to say for herself.

Street Voice: First off can you introduce yourself to the world please?

My name is Pamela Moore. I live in Chicago, Illinois but am a native of Seattle Washington. I recently recorded and toured with Queensryche's Operation Mind-Crime 1 & 2 World tour which just ended for me in Japan this last June. I performed, sang and acted the part of Sister Mary, which you can watch on our newly released DVD MindCrime at the Moore!

Street Voice: What made you decide that you wanted to get involved in the music scene?

I've always aspired to be an actress and singer and seemed to respond well to my theatre and music classes in school. It was a very therapeutic thing for me as well, having to grow up in a broken family. I was able to "escape" for a few hours...

Street Voice: Which artists initially influenced you?

Anyone and nearly everyone from Abba to Zeplin and in-between!

Street Voice: You've been around for a long time with your first album released back in 1981 so have you been having a blast ever since?

Of course!!! *Big Grin*

Street Voice: Many musicians regard their debut release as their most special release so do you feel the same way about 'Take A Look'.

I would say yes! Back then I was just starting out, I was signed to a record label (First American Records) and it was my first opportunity to record and sell records! You always remember your first... right? *wink*

In retrospect, STORIES FROM A BLUE ROOM was a labor of love that took me full circle from my roots starting out. I've always believed that everything is cyclical on our planet...from the clothes we wear to the next fad reinvented. Having said that, BLUE ROOM has a more grown up sound compared to the music on my very first release (in the early 80's) but it also visits a rebirth of myself! So I would consider BLUE ROOM to be just as "special" of a release for me! Almost as if it WAS my first record! Besides, I participated in all the writing of the music with my co-partner Benjamin Anderson as opposed to TAKE A LOOK that was written by other writers!

I've found that as an artist our music changes as your life experiences change...things are always evolving and at times you wake up and realize your full circle! It's odd...but true!

Street Voice: Part of your musical journey has been your involvement with Queensryche so how did all that come about?

I was in the right place at the right time...
Chris and Geoff were looking for a singer for the song Suite Sister Mary (Operation Mind Crime) and I had finished doing a commercial for a music store in Seattle Called "Guitars Etc". The radio spot was being played 24/7 on the air and Geoff and Chris took interest in finding out who the singer was! They found me, asked me if I'd be interested in singing with Geoff on the duet, flew me to Montreal and the rest is history!

Street Voice: So what were those guys like to work with?

Very professional! Fun! Intelligent... great group of people! My friends!

Street Voice: I presume the reason why you just recently left the Queensryche camp is to concentrate solely on your solo career?

My touring commitments ended with Queensryche this last June after a short tour of Japan. Queensryche will be touring with Heaven & Hell the rest of this year which opens things up for me to get going on my solo career. I already have musicians rehearsing my originals as we speak, so we will see how things go! Im pretty excited about it...

Street Voice: Talking of your solo career how has your recent album 'Sounds From A Blue Room' been received by your fans?

The title is: STORIES FROM A BLUE ROOM... LOL

Whoops! Sorry I was typing too fast at the time.

To my delight, I have been getting rave reviews and most fans embrace the record! It's definitely not a metal record but it does have just the right blend of Hard Rock mixed with Electronic programming, so it has a little for everyone! In fact, it's opening doors to people who might not be familiar with my work with Queensryche! And as an artist, new fans (and faces) are always a plus!

Street Voice: Have you had many glowing reviews from this excellent piece of work?

Ah...Thank you! Yes~! It's been awesome! GLOWING reviews From the production (Neil Kernon, Grammy award winner) to the digi-pack packaging, to the songwriting and guest musicians!! At the moment, I suffer a little set back without major distribution but the record is selling consistantly and that's very satisfying!

Street Voice: What inspired the lyrics to this album?

Life experiences. Either my own or that of close friends.

Street Voice: Are there any plans to promote 'Stories From A Blue Room' in the UK/Europe?

I hope to get the chance to promote STORIES FROM A BLUE ROOM everywhere! It's still being requested and played on Austraila's IS ON LIVE Radio.com. There are a couple of Radio stations that play a few songs in rotation here in Chicago and in LA! So once i am able to obtain major distribution and marketing I'll have the "muscle" I need to get the music out!

Street Voice: You've just recently filmed a video for a song 'Cross My Heart' so when is this going to be made available for the public to buy?

I am waiting for the editing process to be finished in order to review and approve my first cut of the video. After that we hope to have it out and available for sale! I should have updates posted to my websites (www.myspace.com/pamelamoore.net and www.pamelamoore.net) and I encourage everyone to stay in touch as I think this video will be a lot of fun! We are talking about "extra's" included in the video along with exclusives, etc.

Street Voice: Did you have lots of fun filming this as I understand this is your first video as a solo artist?

Yes, I have done videos in the past for Queensryche, (as I recently mentioned) I was a big part of the "MindCrime at the Moore" DVD which was released early July, but this one was a first for me as a solo artist! I filmed it in my home town of Seattle Washington (on a beautiful, sunny day, I might add) and I can't wait to see how it all turned out! My photographer has some great live shots of the day that I can't wait to share!

Street Voice: You are an amazingly beautiful woman so I presume you could have had another career option as a model?

NO...*blushing* .

Street Voice: Talking of your beauty are we going out for dinner next time you're in the UK?

Is this still the interview??? (LAUGHING OUT LOUD! ) Sure! Your treat and I'd like to try a great Indian food restaurant!! Oh, and you'll have to arrange for my transportation to the UK? I usually fly American Airlines!!! hee hee...

That's fine by me

Street Voice: Apart from music what else do you get up to in your spare time?

I love gardening, shopping, working out... Going to the beach, intimate time with my friends and family... and breathing!!

Street Voice: What plans have you for the rest of 2007?

I hope to start booking some dates for my solo band soon, start writing for a new record and I've been throwing around a book idea!

Street Voice: Anything you'd like to add?

Thank you... am very grateful to you and to all my fans for helping make my dream come reality.

Many thanks to Pamela Moore for doing the interview and making it a good one to read. Here's wishing her all the best for the future. Finally please do check out 'Stories From A Blue Room' - You might just enjoy!
