Civet are one of my favourite American Rock N Roll bands and I'd been after an interview with these ladies since I first heard their debut album released through Disaster Records. Anyway they've a new album on the way and was given the opportunity to interview Civet and here's what Miss Liza Graves had to say on behalf of the band.

Street Voice: Who's in the current line up of Civet and who plays what?

Ms. Liza graves = lead vox and guitar

Suzi Homewrecker = backvox and guirt

Jacqui Valentine = backvox and bass

Danni Harrowyn= Drums

Street Voice: You've a new album coming out very soon 'Hell Hath No Fury' out on Hellcat so you looking foward to it coming out?

We can't wait! It drops Sept. 8th and we are really excited about it....We'll be touring for the rest of the year to promote it!

Street Voice: How does it compare to your debut album I think was released through Bomp?

Our album with Bomp was technically on a subdivision co-owned by Duane Peters. Bomp has an amazing history where Greg and Suzi Shaw put out some amazing records. Suzy is a great person and continues to carry on the catolog. It was a great learning label for us, but its definately more of a catalog label...there were only a few actually signed bands, touring...

Street Voice: How did the deal with Hellcat come about?

Well...Disaster Records started to go under and we were actually put in this amazing position where we had to get a new home....hellcat lost no time in swooping us up since they had had their eyes on us for some time now.

Street Voice: You've been playing some high profile shows with the likes of the Mighty Mighty Bosstones so how have you gone down with their audience?

We just got back from a whole tour with Dropkick Murphys and the Bosstones....the crowds were super receptive and both bands were a riot! We love them!!!! Danni even doubled as a backup dancer with Ben during that song "simmer down"....

Street Voice: Touring wise will see you bringing Civet to Europe in 2009?

Yes!!!!! We will definately be coming for a visit...we have a lot of fans over there who ask us everyday....I have this feeling we are gunna love it so much we won't want to leave.

Street Voice: Going back to the new album what kind of things have you written about this release?

This record is all about heartbreak and life struggles! Raw!

Street Voice: Do you hope the new release takes you to a new level as a band?

I feel like it already has in a way...this record has pushed us to be harder and louder than we ever have been....even though the record isn't out yet we're getting amazing response and opportunities from it....we want to take it as far as it will go!

Street Voice: What's the hardest thing you find about being in a band?

Probably just being away from loved ones...and all the sacrifices you have to make. It's definately a labor of love!

Street Voice: Apart from the release of your new album and taking in other countries on tour what other plans do you have for 2008?

We just want to stay busy...maybe start writing for the next record and tour tour tour!

Street Voice: Anything you'd like to add?

Thanks to all the fans...rock n' roll will save your soul xo.

Thanks to Liza for doing the interview and James Sherry from Division for arranging it. If you're looking for a classy Rock N Roll band then you really do need to check Civet out.
