THE 241ERS - Murderers: The 241ers is a band made up of members from the Filaments, Stockyard Stoics and MDC. Not only that but members from other bands including the Hold Steady also make appearances on this ten track debut album. The 241ers play their own brand of 'Acoustic Political Punk Rock' and they take their influences from the likes of early Billy Bragg, The Clash, Against Me and Stiff Little Fingers. I have to say this is great release both lyrically and musically and was almost my album of the month. Is it really that good? Yes it is and anyone into Punk Rock would be a nutter to pass up this release. There's songs about Police Brutality and the fascist BNP but the lyrics are well written by people with a bit of suss. They also have a sense of humour too! Check out one of the numbers 'Ronnie Goes To Heaven' which is a theatrical dialogue between Ronald Reagan and the Devil during his descent into hell! Great Stuff. This comes well produced, neatly packaged and all I can say now if you're pissed off with what goes on around you then this album is for you! 9.5/10

ADAM WEST - Extra Sexual Perception: I haven't heard anything by this 60's Garage Punk band since their debut album so having this drop through the letter box was as cool as fuck! Formed in the late 90's in DC this band seem to have been at it for ever and it's a shame this release will be their last every recording. What a recording it is too! There's twelve kick ass Garage Punk tunes on this recording and some of the tracks you really need to check out include 'Stag Party', 'Make A Beeline', 'I already Fucked You…In The Future' and 'When Girls Collide'. Jake Starr and Co really do give you some great Garage Punk numbers here and any fan of this style of raw Punk Rock N Roll will be having orgasms over this one. You best buy it then take it home and play the fucker loud while downing a bottle of JD. It's the best way and only way to enjoy this album. 9/10

ANN WEST – Confidante Sampler: The full album hasn't been released to the music press but Charmed Records have sent out this wicked five track sample to give us all a taster of what is come. If the rest of the album is like these five tracks I have in front of me then you'll be in for one hell of a great Pop album. For me 'I Missed It Again' (Ann's Current Single) and 'Sebastian' really do so much for me as Anne West's vocals are fantastic and the musicians really do themselves justice. and 'Writing On The Wall' and 'I Believe In Me' were of very high quality too and fit in so well. 'Ibiza' was the only track which took me a while to get into but Anne West did something a little different with this number though I'm sure it will be loved by most who listen to it. Ann West is a brilliant artist and this album is surely destined to become a popular release once on the shelves. Pop music at it's best. 9/10

ANTHRAX - Through Time (P.O.V.) DVD: Anthrax were and still are a cracking thrash metal band from N.Y.C. They've sold millions of albums and are up there with likes of Metallica, Slayer and Megadeth. What you have here is a collection of several videos released on DVD for the very first time. There's some cracking videos to some of their best known songs which include 'Metal Thrashing Mad', 'Indians', 'I Am The Law' and 'In My World'. If you've not heard Anthrax before then this is a great introduction. If you're into Anthrax then all I can say is you're in for a treat. 8.5/10

ANTHRAX -Oidivnikufesin DVD: This live show is taken from Anthrax's 1987 show in London. I caught Anthrax on this tour when they played Birmingham Odeon. I'll never forget that show as my mate fell down the stairs in the circle. Hilarious! This was my favourite period in terms of Anthrax's music – Check out 'Spreading The Disease' album from that era and you'll realise how great they were. All my favourite tracks are given some brilliant live treatment here including 'Caught In A Mosh', 'Metal Thrashing Mad', 'Armed And Dangerous', 'Among The Living' and 'NFL'. The quality might not be of the standard you get today but this captures how the scene was back then and what a blinding time the band and fans had. 9/10

ANTHRAX - Live Noize DVD: By the early 90's thrash metal was getting so repetitive that it was becoming boring. Anthrax could have just carried on churning out the same old stuff and playing with the same old bands. They didn't. They started playing with bands from other areas of the musical spectrum and one of these happened to be Public Enemy the infamous rap band. Both bands even took it further by becoming co-headliners on a joint 'Bring The Noise' tour. This live show featuring the Anthrax set is taken from the Irvine Meadows amphitheatre in Southern California in 1991. What's more Public Enemy join Anthrax on stage for two of the numbers. This was a great show to watch and one I'm sure you will too! Anthrax play a blinder and when Public Enemy hit the stage with them the crowd are going fucking mental. This is certainly one live show I'd have loved to have been at. Both audio and visually this DVD rules. 9/10

THE CHEMISTS - Something For The Weekend: The Chemists are a new band to me but I like their catchy Indie sound which has seen them play with bands like the Bluetones. Kicking off this two track single is 'Something For The Weekend' which is a good little number and well worthy of release though I must admit to preferring the flip side. 'Tazmanian Devil' is a heavier number but still retaining a good tune and that really got my feet tapping. A solid introduction to a band that have got all the originality and catchy tunes to make it in this dog eat dog business. 8/10

CIVET - Hell Hath No Fury: All-female Rock N Roll band 'Civet' are back with a brand new album which kicks ass. There's thirteen hard as nails numbers that really do the band proud and it would be sheer criminal not to give them a listen. If you thought their debut album had power then you aint heard nothing yet. Kicking off Hell Hath No Fury is 'Alibis' and from the opening moment it's full steam ahead with tracks such as 'Son Of A Bitch', 'Bad Luck', 'Brooklyn', '1989', 'Sin City' and finally closing with the title track 'Hell Hath No Fury'. Ms Liza Graves really does a blinding job as lead vocalist as well as belting out some great guitar riffs along with fellow guitarist Suzi Homewrecker. On bass is Jacqui Valentine who has surely got to be one of the best bassists in the American Rock N Roll scene. Keeping it all in time is Danni Harrowyn who is the best female drummer I've heard since Sally Gess of Fabulous Disaster fame.
Production is top notch and packaging spot on so what you waiting for? Pick up this thirteen track gem now! 9/10

THE CREEPSHOW - Run For Your Life: Despite the Creepshow going for a while this is the first time I've heard this female fronted band from the USA. They kind of remind me of a street punk version of the Horrorpops and that isn't a bad thing at all as I'm a big fan of the Horrorpops. What you get here for your money is a ten track album filled with tight punk rock tunes with a rockabilly feel to them. Guitarist and Vocalist 'Sarah Sin' really is a great front person both musical and vocally. Sickboy plays a tight double bass and the piano parts with the Reverend McGinty really do work well. Keeping this tight outfit in time is Matt Pomade on drums – Just listen to the way he beats them drums. The Creepshow are a great band and 'Run For Your Life' has been a sheer pleasure to review. Be sure not to give this band and this album a listen. 8.5/10

DJ KERI - Burned (WMC 2008 Mix): DJ Keri sent over this 2008 Mixed which I thought would be a single or something. As it turned out ther'e 13  House/Electro tunes on here last for well over a hour and when playing playing these samples of music very loud to get the feel for them there was a knock at the door. Two people asked me who the tunes were by and where they could pick them up! Usually the neighbours complain about the loudness of the music!! I know what some people are probably thinking negative thoughts because of the genre of music but it's nothing like the rubbish you hear in run of the mill bars/night clubs. This is very spot on music which is very danceable and upbeat. What's more the tracks on here just aren't instrumentals either. It's also great to hear a DJ that can take great songs together like 'Zombie' for instance and mix it in her own style which makes it almost a new song. Keri's own tunes on this album are also a great listen. Check out 'Fire 2 Ice' which is a banging track. That's certainly one tune to noise up the neighbours with!  DJ Keri is well known for playing banging tunes throughout the world and I really do think you need to check her out. You might just enjoy! 9/10

FINLAY MORTON - Back To Basics: Finlay Morton for starters must be given praise for finishing this album as he suffered a heart attack when recording this album. While this style of music doesn't really appeal to me unless it's of a socially aware nature I have to say Finlay puts his all into 'Back To Basics'. You can feel that passion in the music and hear it in the words. What you have here is a ten track album filled with Blues, Rock and Country numbers that will appeal to the masses as this album has been written in a way not to alienate people. What makes this the album that it is can be down to the fact that Finlay has gotten together some artists together that actually gel when they play. This makes a refreshing change as most solo artists just tend to pick up musicians who just happen to be around at the time. Yes I'd give Finlay the thumbs on this recording. Everything is there regards a good album though I'd have liked to have hears a more Rootsy feel to this record. Oh well you can't have everything and I'm sure most people will enjoy what Finlay Morton has on offer. 8/10

FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND - Kicking And Screaming: Welsh Rockers Funeral For A Friend release the second single from their soon to be released fourth album 'Memory And Humanity'. This single is a great taster of what's to come and I know you're going to be blown away. 'Kicking And Screaming' is a catchy number that will win the old fans over and also gain them plenty of new ones. This release comes in three formats and the CD single comes with a second track that is also unreleased. Funeral For A Friend have been at it for a few years now and this song shows there's plenty more to come. 9/10

JAIL GUITAR DOORS - S/T: This is the self titled debut EP release from Japanese Punk Rock N Roll band 'Jail Guitar Doors' and despite being released in 2004 this is still worth seeking out. This release is full of catchy Punk Rock N Roll numbers which would be well known world wide if they were an American Punk band. There's 7 tracks in all and not one filler. Even the bonus number 'SNJ-Fight It Out' deserves to be on here. Favourite tracks for me though were 'Rock N Roll Terrorist', 'Radio Pirates' and 'Blow The Stars And Stripes'. They sing in both english and japanese so you for all you non japanese speakers you get an idea of what the songs are about. Good solid musicianship here too! Check them out! 8/10

INNER PARTY SYSTEM - Die Tonight, Live Forever: When I first heard Inner Party System earlier in the year I thought what a great band and this new release has certainly got me going. ' Die Tonight, Live Forever' combines electro, punk and rock giving you the purchaser a single you're going to be blown away by. I don't say that lightly either. When you hear this terrific song you'll begin to understand what all the fuss is about. There's not been much excitement coming out of America for a while now but I know Inner Party System are going to change all that. This single is a fantastic introduction to the band and I advise you pick this up to give you a taster of what the soon to be released album is going to sound like. 9/10

JAIL GUITAR DOORS - You Talkin' To Me: This carries off where the above EP left off. Released in 2006 this EP has the same intensity and catchy Punk Rock as their 2004 release. Check out tracks like 'Two Bombs Were Not Enough' which is a dig at the American Govt in WW2. Other wicked numbers include 'I Love You' and 'Frustration'. Six tracks in all and all certainly worth being given a listen. 8/10

LIKE A THIEF - Di Lemma! Di Lemma!: Like A Thief is the brainchild of Holly Jazz Lowe and you know what I have to admit this is a pretty catchy song. What you get for your money is an alternative pop song that will get many feet tapping up and down the country if given the right exposure. I'm actually surprised Mercury scrapped a record deal with this band as I'd have thought Like A Thief would be a great catch for any label. "Di Lemma! Di Lemma!" is the kind of song that could be appreciated amongst a wide range of music lovers especially as the piano is a major player in making the tune what it is. I'd check out Like A Thief as I know there's better to come! 8/10

MILLOY - Creating Problems While Practising Solutions: I loved Milloy's last offering and I didn't think they'd have bettered 'More Than A Machine' but I was wrong. The great catchy Punk/HC riffs are still there but delivered stronger than ever leaving these guys one of the best independent bands we have in the UK. For me this is best turned up loud as the guitars really do make this the album that it is. 'Creating Problems While Practising Solutions' is a cert to win these guys some more fans and with tracks such as 'Textbook', 'The Math' and 'Pockets'. Twelve intelligently written numbers that will have any one off their arse and jumping around their front room. Milloy rock simple as that! Remain ignorant or check out a band with plenty of balls and originality to their songs. You choice! Do yourselves a favour and make the correct decision. As Del Boy would say 'You know it makes sense'. 10/10

THE MISSION - The Crusade DVD: I was actually at Rock City the night this gig was filmed. Imagine a venue full of Goths and just two Skinheads – And that's how it was! It was actually a great night but very hot too! I still wonder to this day how some of those Goths could wear their heavy leather coats in such heat! No wonder some of the daft bastards passed out! The Mission were onto a winner back in 1987 and you can tell from this live footage why they managed to stay around for so long. The quality of music they put out was amazing as were their live shows. The full live show is here from what I can remember and tracks include 'Wasteland', 'Let sleeping Dogs Die', 'Sacrilege' and '1969'. Quality isn't bad and considering it's over two decades old most Mission fans will be happy with this release. Yes a cracking night back then and it's been a cracking night tonight re-living those memories of Nottingham's Rock City on this excellent DVD. 8/10

THE MISSION - Sum And Substance DVD: Wayne Hussey did right to leave the Sisters Of Mercy and form the Mission and the videos on this DVD show why. Originally released in 1994 on VHS 'Sum And Substance' is getting it's first outing on DVD and about time too! This collection includes eleven of the bands hit singles and shows to me why the Mission were one of the best Rock bands to come out of the UK. All the best videos are here to songs such as 'Serpents Kiss', 'Wasteland', 'Kingdom Come' and 'Deliverance'. Fans of The Mission will love this as well as Goth fans in General. Big thumbs up to Cherry Red for releasing this one. 9/10

OI! Warning Fanzine - Issue 7: As usual a packed fanzine with some excellent interviews from the likes of 'Fear City', 'Tromatized Youth', 'Evil Conduct', 'Kriminal Pogo' and 'Senza Tregua' to name but a few. Surprised to see the likes of Pressure 28 being interviewed baring in mind the vocalist's links to the Far Right. I think some of the American bands need to take a bit of a pill too but on the whole a good fanzine. One other grumble is Sean tends to give everything he receives a good review! I think a little bit more honesty there even if it means the odd band/label getting the hump. There's plenty to read so if Oi! is your poison then check this baby out. It's also well laid out and very easy to read unlike most fanzines doing the rounds these days.

ROY ELLIS (Mr Symarip) - Shine, Shine, Shine: I don't know if 'Shine, Shine, Shine' is a re-worked version of an old song or if it's a newby but it don't really matter as this is a catchy Ska number dedicated to Skinheads. The song maybe simplistic and the tune borrowed from 'When The Saints Go Marching In' but the the lyrics and the tune ooze passion. You can tell just by listening to it that Roy Ellis still has a passion for Ska music despite being off that scene for such a long time. For me this song catches the spirit of the true Skinhead scene and when playing this song I recommend you turn up the volume. It's at it's best when played loud. The flip side see's a slower but just as exciting song in 'Come On And Dance With Me' which most Ska fans will love. The final track on the flip side is 'Shine Trombone' which see's Mssr Ellis return to his beloved instrument. Great production and a miust for all Ska/Reggae fans. 8.5/10

THE SKETCH - Best Kid In Town: Despite the band only going for a few months they haven't done bad with this Pop Punk/Rock six track EP. The music is quite catchy and production is great and doing it themselves has paid off as a band this small wouldn't have got a production this good from most studios. There is room for improvement but in time this experience come with much more practice and by doing more live shows. 'Best Kid In Town' kicks off with 'Rotting Away' and then steams into other songs such as 'Make Sure You Use It Well' and the title track 'The Best Kid In Town'. This also comes with a the 'Superman Take III' video as an added bonus. A great first attempt from the Sketch though I know there's much better to come and in time it will. Enjoy this release as it's one of the best debut releases I've heard in a while. 7.5/10

THE SWEAR – Hotel Rooms And Heart Attacks: It's been ages since the Swear released their mini album and since then I've been waiting a long time for this full album to be released and you know what you couldn't wish for a better album. Elizabeth Elkins and Co have done themselves proud here and have put out something that most labels couldn't release. 'Hotel Rooms And Heart Attacks' is a great Rock album which has some wicked tracks on it though all thirteen are well worth a listen. However with most albums people have their favourite tracks and mine include 'Some Graves Are Stolen', 'The Violence Rings', 'Always Wasted' and 'The City That Never'. There's been a lot of love and passion put into this baby and this four-piece should be chuffed with what they've put out. Both lyrically and musically any fan will be thrilled with what they hear on this release and what puts the icing on the cake is the excellent production.
A sure winner if you pick it up! 9/10

TANYA BUZIAK Promo: Canadian artist Tanya Buziak has gone from being a solo artist to fronting a band and these three tracks are a result of the first recordings undertaken as a band. What you have here are three tracks that are very similar to Irish rock band 'The Cranberries'. That's not a bad thing as a full band really compliments Tanya Buziak's vocal style. Vocally Tanya is up there with Delores O'Riordan and her band are very talented musicians. I'll be very surprised if this band don't go on to do well for themselves. There's not much out there with such sincerity and more importantly there's not much out there which grabs my attention like Tanya Buziak and co have done with these three tracks. 'Homeward Bound' is my favourite number by these guys but 'That Thing' and 'Undisclosed' aren't too far behind. Will Tanya Buziak be huge? On the basis of these tracks this lady and her band have a very bright future indeed. 8/10

TAYLOR DAYNE - Samples From Satisfied Album: I don't usually review MP3's as I like to hear the full package before basing my opinion on a release. However on hearing Taylor Dayne I broke my own rule as she has amazing voice. The five tracks I have here are taken from the Taylor's new album 'Satisfied' and I can safely say this album is worth purchasing for these tunes alone. You really do need to hear Taylor's voice as it will blow you away. I thought Any Winehouse had an amazing voice but Taylor Dayne's is in a completely different league. I really think her voice comes into a class of it's own on tracks such as 'Breathless'and 'My Heart Wont Change' which is also Taylor's new single. Two R n B / Soul numbers that really do need to be heard. Not far behind quality wise are 'I'm Over My Head', 'She Don't Love You' and 'Under The Bridge'. In fact all those numbers are worthy of a single release in their own right and so deservedly featured on 'Satisfied' especially 'Under The Bridge' which a freind thought was an amazing song. The pleasure I get from Taylor's is unreal. I'm surprised this lady isn't banging out hits world wide as the R n B / Soul sounds you hear in charts are nowhere near as hot as what you can hear from Taylor Dayne. All I can say is if you're looking for some one with talent then Taylor Dayne is your lady. She's hot hot hot! 9.5/10

TD LIND La La Love: I don't know what to make of TD Lind. Sometmes I can listen to this guy and other times I just have to turn him off. He's a very talented song writer and a musician but when I think of Folk music I kinda like it to be social aware. 'La La Love' is a catchy enough number that I'm sure many people will get into. Even I had my foot tapping to it,. This song captures TD's voice really well and guitar playing on this number is exceptionally good. The second number 'Cold Heart' which is more of a rootsy folk number and TD Lind is joined by a female vocalist by the name of Lily-May Young. People who prefer more of a traditional folk sound will enjoy this number better. Not a bad single and one which I'm sure will do well. By the way 'La La Love' is taken from TD Lind's current album 'Call Me Sinner' so maybe a good introuctin to the sound of TD Lind. 8/10

TRACY RICE – Out Of Light: Some one asked me today what I thought was the best part of the internet. My reply was coming across artists such as Tracy Rice. Tracy has such a great voice and the passion she puts into her lyrics and music is spot on. I'm surprised this Canadian artist isn't signed to a major label or at least a large independent label. 'Out Of The Light' sees Tracy on more of a pop/rock outing and you know what I can't find a single track on this album that I don't like. This album is very catchy from start to finish and I'd be surprised if the majority of music lovers couldn't get into this album. Despite being released in 2001 I still recommend you track this down for tracks such 'Out Of The Light', 'Won't Leave You Behind', 'Too Young', 'I Want To Let Go', 'Say The Words' and 'Don't Leave Now'. I love Tracey Rice and I don't say that lightly. Listening to this album has really made my day.
Definitely one album to look out for! 9/10

TRACY RICE – Live At Yadda: This is the latest album from Tracy Rice and this really shows what a talented individual this lady is. There's not many artists out there who can sing/play as well live as what can be captured in the studio. In fact many artists today can't do their stuff live and that's a shame but Tracy really comes at you and for me that's brilliant. Gone are the Pop tunes in favour of a more Folk/Country style which really is Tracy's love as this fifteen track album shows. Kicking off with 'Long Highway' the performance is spot on through the whole recording and numbers to look out for are 'I Couldn't Taste It', 'Let's Get Carried Away', 'Let Me Love You From Here', 'I'm In Love With You' and 'I Don't Want To Think About It'. You couldn't ask for a better show and Tracy leaves you wanting more because what is on this album isn't enough. Yes it's that good. What's more Tracy's brother plays drums on this album so making it a real family affair. Top stuff from this Canadian artist. 10/10

VENOM - Metal City DVD: Christ! Venom isn't a name I've heard of since my schooldays back in the early eighties. For those who don't know who Venom were they were a UK Metal outfit who were bordered on the point of thrash and certainly influenced the first incarnation of Thrash Metal bands. For the time I can only think of Motorhead who were more powerful than Venom. What you have here is footage from the various Venom line-ups that not only contains live material but other footage of the band backstage and in their home town of Newcastle too. Not forgetting the full 'Making Of' film too! The quality varies from good to slightly dodgy but the footage is over twenty years old and in fairness makes this the DVD that it is. It makes a change to get a DVD with some thought put into it rather than just cashing in with a predictable live show. Fans of Venom and eighties Metal will dig this one. 7/10

VIC RUGGIERO - Something In My Blind Spot: This is a bit of strange release to be honest. I was expecting something with a bit of a Ska affair not something that is something similar to what Woody Guthrie would have recorded. I really like Woody but I don't think Mr Ruggiero is quite just at that level yet! It's an ok release but nothing special. There's fourteen tracks in all and to be honest I can't think of one that stands out. The monotony is only broken down with the addition of Lisa Muller on vocals who actually saves the day on this outing. I guess it's going to be one of those releases that you either enjoy or could pass up on. My choice is the latter. Sorry guys. 6/10

YOU ME AT SIX - Jealous Minds Think Alike: Apart from checking out some You Me At Six tunes on their My Space page this is the first opportunity I've had sitting down and listening to one of their songs through my own music system. Ok so there's nothing really new here as most young male bands seem to come along playing a similar style. However it's fair to say You Me At Six are one of the better bands playing this style of music. They have a catchy guitar sound and I can't see many teenagers giving this a miss. They'll almost certainly go onto do bigger and better things as they have more conviction to them then other young bands such as Elliot Minor. If you're looking for something to convince you to check out You Me At Six's debut album 'Take Off Your Colours' try this single out.I'm sure it'll win you over! 8/10

X ONE WAY/ YOUTH OF STRENGTH- Start Whenever / We're Not In this To Break Down The Walls Alone Split Album: If early US H.C. is your thing then you're going to love this release or at the very least certainly appreciate it! If you're not a fan of HC then I wouldn't even bother with this release as you'll probably hate it! What you get for your money is a 52 track CD which on most part is pretty decent. There are a few exceptions to this but the poorer tracks just happen to be added bonuses anyway. The best bits are the first 31 tracks as they're the main frame to this release. X One Way kick off this release with ten tracks which really get you in the mood. Favourite tracks foe me were 'Senior Citizens', 'The Duck Hunt Dog Is A Fucking Sellout' and 'Tear Down The Owls'. Next up are Youth Of Strength with their side of the album ' We're Not In this To Break Down The Walls Alone' which for me was the best part of this album. These tracks are re-worked from songs originally recorded in 1985. Check out tracks such as KFC (Keep Fucking Clean), 'Break The Chain', 'X Marks The Spot', and 'Cluck Clink Every Trip'. SXE HC that is firmly tongue in cheek before anyone gets the hump. Bonus tracks include the original X One Way X demo and the Y.O.S. single 'Shouting For A Better Tomorrow' and other un-released recordings. Not a bad release and certainly value for money. 7.5/10
