Taylor Dayne is a beautiful lady but what makes her even more special is her voice which really makes you focus on her. I loved what I heard on Taylor's new album 'Satisfied' and just had to feature this American R n B / Soul artist in Street Voice. Here's what Taylor Dayne has to say for herself.
Street Voice: First off Taylor can you tell our readers a little about yourself?
Taylor Dayne: A little about myself is I'm Taylor Dayne . Self made with the help of some very talented people. I'm from NY and I guess that's the power and strength and the Diva people feel when they hear my music.
Street Voice: So who/what inspired you to become a singer in the first place?
Taylor Dayne: WABC Radio. My Dad gave me my first transistor Sony radio box I was like 5 yrs old and I turned it on and Stevie Wonder was singing "My Cheri Amour", I was mesmerized. My parents were always my biggest fans and certainly supported the arts in NY. I grew up in Long Island but Sunday was family day and off to see some of New York's most cutting edge theatre and music, off to broadway was what they loved and what we sat through. Even Shakespeare in the Park.
Street Voice: You have an amazing voice so was that natural with some vocals lessons to iron out any problems?
Taylor Dayne: My voice was guided and trained early on by the music and artists I heard on the radio. In the early 70,s on one station it wasn't uncommon to hear The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Bill Withers, Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Love and Spoonful, The Carpenters and Thin Lizzy.

Street Voice: You're just about to release the album 'Satisfied' so how do you feel about the finished product?
Taylor Dayne: I'm very proud of my 5th studio record, Satisfied. They're not easy to get funded and made.
Street Voice: When can people pick up your other album releases from?
Taylor Dayne: Online, I would imagine.
Street Voice: How did the deal with Arista come about?
Taylor Dayne: My self and Rick Wake who was my producing partner heard "Tell It To My Heart" off a tape that had 5-7 songs being pitched by Warner Chaple publishing. Rick liked it, said borrow the money from your Dad so we can record it and we went to an indie promoter and he played it for an A+R person from Arista and they heard it and signed me for a singles deal based on that track.
Street Voice: What kind songs you like best to perform?
Taylor Dayne: Performing your hits always brings a crowd to their feet. You can fight it or join in but personally the ballads feel very personal, during performance.
Street Voice: Going back to the album will this release be availbale in shops or will people have to buy/download on line?
Taylor Dayne: It's available on iTunes worldwide as well as in the United States in all Targets and Bestbuys, what's really left?
Street Voice: What do you feel are your strongest songs on 'Satisfied'?
Taylor Dayne: I love the whole CD and I especially love "Under the Bridge".
Street Voice: You've just come back from Beijing where you sung at the Olympics so how did that gig come about?
Taylor Dayne: I performed at a TV taping called "Marriage of Excellence" honoring the closing of the major Olympics and the beginning of the Paralympic games. This Global airing will take place soon enough as they tell me and I will certainly let my fans know via my websites.
Street Voice: Apart from China do you manage to play many shows outside the USA?
Taylor Dayne: It seems I will be in Europe for a 3 week tour November 15th - December 3rd at this point and then an Australian tour is shaping up I believe,

Street Voice: Away from your music what else do you like to get up to?
Taylor Dayne: Well I am an avid Nature lover hikes, National Parks, Kayaking, Mountains, Desert skies at night…So beautiful.
Street Voice: Any plans for the rest of 2008?
Taylor Dayne: I have dates being listed on my website as we speak Nov -Dec is now booked and I have 2 charity events I will be participating in as well one for Amfar and the other for Breast Cancer research.
Street Voice: Anything you'd like to add?
