Yes yes we know you can all drink round town until it spills out of your ears without so much as a sideways look from doormen, but The Graduate has to be extra-careful because, as we all know, gig-goers are nothing but trouble ... :o)

So. Here's the low-down on the ID stuff.

Our lower age limit for all shows is 15+.

IF YOU ARE, OR APPEAR TO BE, UNDER 21 YOU WILL NEED ID TO GET IN. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF YOU BRING YOUR MUM OR YOU GET HER ON THE PHONE WHILE YOU'RE AT THE FRONT DOOR.

BEARDS DON'T COUNT, EITHER ... ON MALES OR FEMALES!

AND OF COURSE, IF YOU WANT TO PURCHASE ALCOHOL YOU WILL DEFINITELY NEED ID.

If you are 15: We will accept an OFFICIAL SCHOOL BUS PASS (which has photo and date of birth) or a PASSPORT (in date, not photocopied).

Otherwise, a Birth Certificate or Medical Card will be OK as long as you have something else photographic such as Bus Pass, Gym Card or Library Card to prove that you are the owner of the Birth Certificate or Medical Card that you are presenting.

We do not accept any internet-based ID card schemes.

If you are 16 or 17: We will accept a valid PASSPORT (in date, not photocopied), CITIZEN CARD, NEW STYLE DRIVER'S LICENCE or OFFICIAL SCHOOL BUS PASS. We do not accept standard "student" cards as they are too easy to forge.

We will also accept an NI CARD when presented with corroborative photographic ID such as bus pass, gym card, library card etc. This is to prove that you are the owner of the NI Card that you are presenting.

We do not accept any internet-based ID card schemes, or non-UK driving licences.

If you are 18+: We will accept a PASSPORT (in date, not photocopied), CITIZEN CARD, NEW STYLE DRIVER'S LICENCE and UNIVERSITY MONDEX CARD. We do not accept standard "student" cards as they are too easy to forge.

We will also accept an NI CARD when presented with corroborative photographic ID. This is to prove that you are the owner of the NI Card that you are presenting.

We do not accept any internet-based ID card schemes, or non-UK driving licences.

Yes – it's a pain the neck. Yes – we're the only ones doing this.

Why do we make such a fuss when your 13 yr old sister gets served everywhere else? Because at The Graduate we believe in doing things properly.

Stamping your feet, swearing and going on and on and on and on and on might have worked with your mummy and daddy but we will hold our ground. So don't give the door staff a hard time, OK? Just bring your stuff and you'll get in!! No ID = No Entry and spotchecks by the local council and police means there are no exceptions whatsoever. You'll find after a few times that you'll be recognised - but bring your ID anyway …

Any questions or comments, please e-mail us at the usual address. Don't save your arguments for the front door 'cos you'll have had a wasted journey. We really want to you come to the gig, we just want to do it the right way.
