Its funny that despite being a Bacolod homeboy, the first time I heard bout Aero was thru Manila-based Spazzkid who was raving bout the man in his Multiply blog early this year. Admittedly, I was intrigued…first because here's this homegrown guy making inroads in the national music scene via his work with Dice and K9 (Mobbstar), and is also making the rounds in the Manila hip-hop circuit. Secondly, being a homeboy (nee recluse, hehe) myself I was out-of-touch and didn't even know there's a local hip-hop scene in sugar city. So, I got to know bout the homey via his myspace page, and to my surprise, he commented that when he was a radio jock here in BC he used to see fs&c albums (tapes) lying around the booth, and was also similarly intrigued (perhaps by its evil presence, hahaha). Now as a band, the last time we actually did a hip-hop inspired track was back in '93, which is "NO POINT" and was included in our debut in 1994, and was again remastered and included in THE BAYLANS soundtrack (2000). Prior to that, we got to produce a demo for The Bartman (nee Max of the now defunct band THE RUBBERDUCKIES), which were 2 full-on hip-hop tracks, with live bass guitar courtesy of Jem, synths by Pen, and the turntables were handled by yours truly. BTW, Max if you're reading this you need to re-post 'em tracks here in Multiply for all the peeps, hehe.
Now back to the Aero sessions, well…t'was a rainy September afternoon (haha), when his posse (Randy who did a cameo on the water pipe mix, and Frederick who almost ended up doing a cameo too for the FFF tracks, hehe) showed up to check out our FFF sessions, and thanks to the mystical powers of weed, hehe… after which it turned out to be a flavaful freestyle jam (the man is a lyrical gangsta!) which apparently ended up on the hard drive, and now here 'tis 3 versions of the green-powered track, best enjoyed when yer not so sober, hehe. Oh yeh, needless to say…this shit's not yer grampa's usual hip-hop joint, this is more like what happens if JayZ or Kanye's gonna hang with The Grateful Dead using gear from Beck's backing band, or sumthin, hehe. Damn, now I'm too stoned to be articulate, and to be typing this hype.lol
ENJOY THE FLOW Y'ALL!
