So maybe a decent handful of the folks out there who are aware of myself are also aware of a group called the MHz. This was my first rap group; we did a few singles on Bobbito's Fondle 'em records, a few compilation songs, etc. from 1997-ish to 2001-ish. This group was the entry point into the world of "professional" music for Camu Tao, Copywrite, and myself, and also provided the introduction of a few others. Anyway, Camu passed away yesterday. While this didnt come out of the blue for anyone who knew him, it still comes with the same amount of shock. He was one of the most truly creative people i've ever known, hilariously funny, and a complete enigma-almost anyone who ever met him remembered him, even if just in passing. He gave a lot of people in Columbus(and beyond) some amazing memories they will certainly have for the rest of their lives. If any of us make it past 50, Camu will be a large part of all those old man reminiscings. And while im still stunned, Im glad he isn't in pain anymore.

Godspeed, Tero.

Damn. I was just coming off the 2nd anniversary of my boy DJ Dusks death. I was just yesterday listening to his Dilla tribute to honor them both and then I hear this...
I think it will be a while before I will get "Plot For A Little" out of my head now. Glad his suffering is over, so sorry we will now suffer not having him with us.

Peace and respect to you RJ and to El-P, Aesop and the DefJux family

Yo... Wat up RJD2... man.. it's been a while... damn man.. I can't believe this... it seems like the good die young... and he was a good dude... despite the fact that I wanted 2 meet him and the others from Weathermen or from DEF JUX or any kind of affiliation.... Camu Tao.. is by far besides all the other funny rappers out there.... the funniest, most coolest, creative motherfucker in da UGHH world.... I herd his shit... downloaded it, as well as all the other ill-ass artists that I've herd back in da days and shit.. straight downloading and getting ideas for rap songs and shit.... I've learned that he is a cool as character.. and if I had a chance 2 meet him... I would beg mah heart out for him and the others to be on a track with me, AWOL Da MindWriter.... Honestly... shout out to that nigga Camu... you are now in Gods hands.. and deserve that place as well as any other good person out there.... man... "Spirit fly, all around left and right, never down, in this time, life was good, in the lord's hands, as he should"
~AWOL

you were a good man Camu... shout out 2 u mah nigga... 2 many good niggas leave us.... and u were one of the good... Underground hip hop is always here for ya ear bro... even tho we can't hear u, u can hear us....

Man this truely saddens me, ive been listening to Mu since Mhz and out of all the Jukies he was the most unique with his soulful, punk, hip hop tunes that would make ur head bounce. Im glad hes no longer going through the pain he was in but i know like you do RJ, the world will never be the same with out him.

RIP Mu Tao

RJ: i remember the first few times Camu came to the Groove Shack Open Mic's with Copywrite and their crew. Blazing on the mic ! Mike Curry and I looked at each other and asked, "who the hell are these kids ?"...they were bursting with raw talent and had no fear, battling grown men as they were still in High School, in the mid 90's. Intalec grabbed Camu by the scruff of the neck and said you can make it and i can get you there, but you gotta listen to me...Copywrite went too, and next thing, they, along with you, are this local super group, MHz. Think of that, You, Camu, Copywrite, and Intalec, plus all the funk friends... another Wu-Tang type movement ??!! or potentially bigger.

Interviewing him for the Groove Shack Film 6 weeks before he passed, he still had dreams and promises. He played a few snippets of the album he was working on, and he was on it ! An all Camu album, kind of a "defining moment" record. Then he was going to the Carribean to sit on the beach. But he never got to the beach, and the album is unfinished... I will miss his observations of people and life...His enthusiasm for it, and lucky for us, i still have those old Open Mic battles we put on Public access all those years ago.

His interview was raw, funny and intense, just the way you'd expect it to be...
