So I work at this awesome place called spout. I've talked about it before but now that I have a better idea of what I do, I'd like to share it with you. My title is "Graphics Integrator" and while it's a very loose term, it is pretty accurate. Spout works closely with BBK Studio, the best design firm in Western Michigan. They created our "brand", which consists of our logos, typography, colors, basically what makes Spout, Spout. They are always up to something creative over there. I am Spout's first "in-house" designer and the challenge with that position was, and is, fitting my design talents into that brand, which I feel I'm doing pretty well at. I take graphics that BBK has created and put them into new aspects of Spout and sometimes create new graphics based of those preexisting graphics. I am also in charge of managing the blog at blog.spout.com which is a WordPress site. The implementation of this site (buttonpresser.com/blog) helped me to get the job there. On occasion I have to jump into an impromptu project when needed. Spout responds quickly to events and news articles that pertain to us. For instance "Rolling Stone" just ran an article on Mumblecore which is a new film genre we've been involved with from its beginning. I had to wok with the product team, of which I am part of, to create a place on Spout we could send visitors to when they come from a search engine. Here's the link to what I created. I have a lot of platforms I work in. I need to make sure that my code works on all the major browsers and operating systems and that it's highly readable and editable for future use. I also monitor our RSS aggregation to make sure that digg, technorati, and the like are looking at our stuff correctly. I also actively search out new opportunities for Spout to get involve exteriorly and read into new code languages and better ways to write code. There's a lot going on. Visit Spout and see what everyone is buxxing about
