This Christmas was almost the best Christmas ever.
An SSL (mixing) desk is being built to my specifications. Ask any person of an audio engineering persuasion what thing they'd most like in their studio and you'd find most of them mention the fabled SSL. In the days of credit crunches and studio closure (RIP Mayfair and Olympic studios) I am bucking the trend by purchasing the superlative symbol of absolute 80s excess. I'm loving it. I've managed to get one cut down to half size as well which I think makes it the smallest of its kind in the world. (My brand of minimalism doesn't need as many faders.)
I have been so excited it's ridiculous. It's literally the best present I'll ever get in my whole life (to me, from me) but unfortunately it is subject to delay and I won't be taking delivery until January. Gutted.
Fuck it. I'll have to stick to the lyric writing till then. I've got 4 songs. Not sure whether they're upto album standard so instead of the usual process of total A&R confusion I will post some on tinterweb at random...
And when The Streets lighter turns blue next year we're on the last album.
