The gig at Scruffy Murphy's on the 30th September is Cancelled. It turns out we couldn't get the venue. This sucks; Rob of Robannas is looking for another venue to host the night but we don't know at such short notice. We may be playing with Strangetime at the Market Tavern at some point in the near future. I will update as soon as I know more.
On a separate note, however, the gig at The Flapper went very well. Beats Capri were great but I only stayed for a couple of songs as I was so very tired. There were some kind reviews which can be found at SilentWordsSpeakLoudest . Here are some highlights: (i.e. the parts about us...)
Has the second city been hit by another tornado? No, that'd just be the swirling fog of noise coming from the stage, courtesy of Sinistra. Somewhere, underpinning the squall, there's a drum machine and bass, and over the top vocals ring clear. There's no doubting the Flapper & Firkin soundsystem showcases their atmospheric stadium goth to better effect than that of Scruffy Murphys, where I saw them first.

For starters, if you're feeling Sinistra consider yourself lucky as the lead singer is a striking goth maiden, while the band employ a style of 'dark, brooding rock' which will inevitably draw comparisons to the notion of Siouxsie Sioux fronting Joy Division. Early days for the three-piece yet (this is just their second gig) but they're off to an intriguing start.

There is also a review of the night as a whole at Cheese In Space.
Thanks to everyone who turned up and kindly reviewed the gig, also thanks again to Adrian Waters for his wonderful photography. (If photographing me isn't making the best of a bad job I don't know what is.)
We're working on quite a few new songs at the moment which is very encouraging; I am trying to move onwards lyrically.
Oh, if anyone would like to know, here's the set from the gig:
Misery (lyrics/melody - Sarah)
Death Of Me (lyrics/melody - Sarah)
Curved (lyrics/melody - Sarah)
Scratch (lyrics/melody - Simon)
I Am Aether (lyrics/melody - Simon)
To sign off, here is a picture of the lovely Kate and Tara from Strangetime. Someone give that girl a cheese sandwich!
