Trying to keep character defamation to a minimum I'll state just the facts:

LORDS played at Cahoots on Oct 4th.

After the show Matt Jaha refused to load his own bass equipment, and demanded that I do it for him, he also demanded that I pay him "$40 for playing the show" (there was $158 total from the door at the show, all of which was paid to the touring bands, Virgins and Monikers).

Upon refusing both demands, Matt said that I was being "self centered and narcisistic". He complaied that I make him "work for free" in Lords and since he is 1/3rd of the band he wants to be compensated appropriately. I told him that if he wants to share 1/3rd of the profit from LORDS then he can pay me about $2,000 then we would share in the "profit" of the band (which is actually a several thousand dollar deficit caused by merch bills and vehicle upkeep which are all funded by my credit card when the band fund is dry. Matt has never paid out of pocket for any such expenses and the finacial situation of the band was explicitly discussed before he agreed to join the band). He then engaged in what can only be described as a temper tantrum...throwing his gear around the back of the venue. He kicked over and threw down his cabintes, knocking the grill off of one of them, then he picked up my EMC head by the handle on the side of the amp and threw it in to the trailer.

I then punched him in the face. Matt whined a little about how he didn't understand why I did, so I had to explain to him that if he wants to purposely abuse or destroy his own property then (no matter how stupid it may be) that's fine, but if he purposely abuses or destroys property that belongs to anyone else then he should be prepared to accept the consequences (a concept that though easily understood by most was and still is not understood by Matt Jaha).

Matt then says in all seriousness "since you hit me, now you have to let me hit you". I tell him that's not the way it works...that if he wants to step over to the side in a open spot then we can sqaure off propperly, and I'll let him make the first swing...he declines that offer...but decides to take a shot at me a couple of minutes later after the situation has started to diffuse, he caught me a little off guard and got a hit in, then I began pounding his head.

Doug Walker (who plays in two other bands with Matt) and Eric quickly intervene, Doug grabs me from behind and starts pulling me back...Eric try's to get between Matt and I...Matt is pulling my hair...I'm trying to swing around Eric and get to Matt's head....and at one point accidently clip Eric a little...apologizing immediately....the brief exchange is broken up and when the dust settles Jaha has some cosmetic damage but is otherwise fine.

Matt then trys to pull the victim card and makes some comments about how much smaller he is than me (a fact he should have thought about before he took a swing)...and how he didn't want to go on tour anyway, and how he's sick of my "redneck shit". I told him that was cool, that he no longer had to worry about going on tour and that I was tired of his "spoiled rich kid" shit.

There was then a brief debate whether or not he - being the son of a millionaire contractor that feels entitled to things most people define as luxuries, who has no sense of personal responsibility, no respect for other people or other peoples property and who has never been faced with the prospect of real destitution because his dad puts him on company payroll when ever he fucks up and gets fired from a a job - could be described as a spoiled rich kid.

Note, Jaha has already been kicked out of Coliseum, Black Cross and Pusher for various behaviours related to the above mentioned personality traits....and when inviting him to play in Lords I thought that he would have learned something form those experiences but I guess I was wrong.

Anyway,

Needless to say, Matt Jaha will not be playing bass in the band anymore, and rather than cancell the upcoming tour Eric and I decided to do it as a two piece...I just get some more amps to make up for the bass...

When we return home we will be haveing formal bass player tryouts, the list off iron fisted, totallitarian, completley unreasonable and unfair nazi like expectations Eric and I have out of a bass player are:

- be able to play the songs
- be able to tour and leave the country
- be able to practice in louisville ky when necessary
- show up on time for tour and shows
- understand that if you purposely damage or endanger our van, equipment or anything else belonging to us then we will purposely damage or endanger your face.

whoa, that's a bummer man.
kind of ironic how someone with a rich family lets money issues cause such ridiculous behaviors.

glad you guys aren't canceling the tour or anything!

This of course is all convoluted bullshit.

As usual, Chris is trying to make it sound like he won something when he simply lost a bass player and looked like a true asshole doing it. The important points for me to add are as follows:

a) THIS WAS NOT ABOUT MONEY. The quotes from above should read "do you want to give me $40 for playing the show?" and "do you want to give me $40 for the practice space?” the second quote was left out conveniently and is in reference to my practice space which Lords has used at about %50 of our practices. Both questions were rhetorical and served only to prove the point that Chris uses people. I’ve been playing shows and touring long enough to know that traveling bands get first dibs. I also asked Chris these questions AFTER he hit me; they did not serve his "heroic" motives. Chris made it clear that "I had it coming" from a long series of disputes that he failed to go into at that time or in his little myspace blog. I assure you they didn't have anything to do with money. Touring on your own dime is well worth it when the other people in the van aren't ASSHOLES. Also, my band, How to Murder, has only made $30 this entire year and WE DON'T CARE. We were just psyched to play with Sam’s band on this occasion.

b) I WANTED CHRIS TO HIT ME. This wasn't difficult. All I had to do was to speak up. Asking for it and deserving it are two different things my friend. In my opinion throwing an amp in the trailer is not a good excuse to punch someone, but that's beside the point. You were looking for an excuse and I gave you one. I had nothing to loose.

c) PICKING ON THE LITTLE GUY. It was Doug, actually, who pointed out that you are bigger than me. I didn’t say a word about it. I think everyone realizes that you only fight if you have the obvious size advantage. See Chris’ bout with Robby Veale. Not to mention several other occasions where Chris threatened violence over door money.

d) I NEVER ASKED FOR COMPENSATION. Ever. But I would like to shine a little light on the subject. Chris' credit card debt was never mentioned until we were on tour in Canada. After that it was brought up over anything from who should give Eric a ride to practice to loading a bass cabinet into the trailer. I have no problem playing shows for free as long as it is fun, and I would be more than happy if Chris could catch up with Lords' bills by playing shows as long as he doesn't hold it over my head as leverage for every little thing that doesn't go his way. While I was in Pusher, Chris once told me that every band needs one guy to keep the band going financially and to stop complaining about it. Also, I think we would all like to see those receipts for continuity purposes.

e) WILL WORK FOR FUN. Hard work and having a blast is what touring is about for me. Every time I leave town to play music, I’m on vacation from my job and unfortunately from my friends and family too. Everyone knows that it takes sacrifices to be in a touring band, but it’s worth it because it’s fun. Working for Chris is not fun. I’ve never met someone with so much baggage and displaced aggression. He once threatened to “knock every tooth out of my head” because I was taking too long in the shower and we were going to be late for the show. We ended up getting stuck in traffic, still arriving at the show on time with hours to spare and then waiting for our tour mates Suicide Note to show up for those several hours. Was my taking a shower the real issue or was it your driving drunk to Montreal the night before at 80mph wasting our precious gas money and not even getting laid? WHO FUCKING CARES!?

f) SPOILED RICH KID. I don’t get anything for free. I drive a company pickup truck and I work my ass off for that PRIVILEGE. Why would I ever consider working for anyone but my family if it were as easy as you believe it is? I’ve had other jobs that were fun, and when they ceased to be fun I stopped giving a fuck. Construction is hard fucking work and I don’t get paid to go on tour. I have to earn that privilege as well. I loose tons of money everyday that I am on tour yet I still love it and never let myself look at it from say the point of view that you look at playing shows: no money, not worth it. We’ve bailed on shows because you “heard” that no one was going to be there. I think that’s disreputable. Since we’re comparing dicks now why don’t you tell everyone where you live? Whose car is it that you are driving? What are your monthly bills besides Lords, Chris? And, why are you bringing my dad into this?? He grew up in a family with nothing and is determined to make me work for whatever it is he has to offer me. This shit has nothing to do with my attitude and everything to do with yours. These things have never been spoken between us and now they are suddenly your just cause for “beating up” your friend? How can you be all business all the time, and yet take my father’s wealth personally enough to destroy your band? You’re bitter and probably a little jealous too. Cheap.

Let’s just set the record straight. I quit those bands just like I quit yours, bro. End of story. I guess you should have realized that I could care fucking less about domineering assholes’ prerogatives when they can’t appreciate their friends for what they are instead of what they have to offer. I have no hard feelings toward Ryan, Evan, Adam, Steve or anyone. I play music with friends. After that FUCK ALL YA’LL CAUSE ALL OF YOU ARE FUCKED.

The bottom line is this: you bully people to get what you want and I told you I wasn’t going to take it anymore so you sucker punched me. That is the most important detail that you left out. You apologized to me after it happened, why can’t you take responsibility for your actions in front of everyone else?

"I WANTED CHRIS TO HIT ME"

for someone who purportedly wanted to get hit, you sure did cry about it an awful lot after it happened. be careful what you wish for.

and btw, it's "lose", not "loose". "looser".

THE BASS CABINET. I asked Chris to load my cabinet, because I was loading my other bands’ gear. Chris and Eric had not left any space in the trailer for my equipment, an obvious oversight on their part.

I'm your necromancer

WHILE IM SADDENED BY THIS, AS I LOVE LORDS, MATT AND ALL INVOLVED.... I AM MORE SAD ABOUT THE FACT THAT I DONT HAVE TIME TO TOUR. OR ID BE ON THIS IN A SECOND. I HAD THOUGHT ABOUT KILLING MATT IN THE PAST, AND THEN DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL, SO I COULD TAKE HIS PLACE.. MAYBE EVEN WEARING HIS FACE AS A MASK FROM TIME TO TIME. BUT NOT IN A WEIRD SERIAL KILLER WAY, MORE IN A "I KILLED YOU TO TAKE YOUR PLACE" WAY...

ANYWAY, GOOD LUCK ON TOUR...
