News for our Pylon friends here on Myspace.com




DFA records is reissuing Pylon's first Lp Gyrate this October 16th on CD. Bonus material will include our first single Cool/Dub, tracks from the 45 rpm 10 inch ep and a song that was recorded in our practice space on two track in 1979. It has all been restored and remastered by Jeff Calder at Southern Tracks Studio and at Rodney Mills Masterhouse. All material (except for the bonus track recorded in our practice space) was originally released by Db recs out of Atlanta back in 1979 and 1980 and has been out of print for years.

Can't wait to hear it!!! I've been rubbing my hands together in anticipation!!! Knowing Jeff and Rodney were at the helm during restoration and mastering tells me that this is going to be even better!!!

We'll let you all know if we do a CD release party here in Athens. Otherwise, I guess you could mail it to us and we could mail it back if you don't live in the area. Just enclose a self addressed stamped envelope with your CD. Mail it to:
Pylon, P.O. Box 749, Athens, GA 30603 and make a note that you want it autographed and we'll mail it back to you. Just a warning-all members of Pylon aren't always in town at the same time for months, so you might have to be very patient.

Hi Vanessa. This is very exciting! I already pre-ordered my copy and will wait anxiously until it arrives. :-)

I also have to mention that I just tracked down a copy of "Chomp" on vinyl. This is the first time I have heard the songs that were not included on "Hits," and they are all fantastic. Also, in my opinion it has one of the best album covers ever. That t-rex rocks and the one jagged side is a very nice touch, haha. Here's hoping for a nice CD remaster of that in the future to go along with "Gyrate Plus."

This news literally brought happy tears to my eyes, for sentimental reasons that I will not get into, but I am so extremely happy about this!! I am going to buy extra copies, and share them with my friends who missed out back in the day!!!
