After 13 years The Feds are disbanding. We would first like to thank our families, friends, and fans for their unwavering support.

Jason and I (Matt Slider) started The Feds in 1995 while we were in high school. If anyone would've told me that the band would last this long, I would have assumed we were rich and famous and that Metallica was opening for US. But Metallica never did open for us and the closest I got to fortune and fame was being able to pay rent, and Scott Weiland telling me to fuck off.

All joking aside, we've had many successes in our career and I'm thankful for the time I've spent following my heart. I'm thankful for all the people I've met because of this band and so much of myself is defined by the years we've spent working and creating music together.

As for the near future…we'll be playing the remaining shows we have scheduled plus a final show. I'm not sure when or where the last show will be but you know it'll be badass!

Please feel free to share your memories and pictures on our myspace. We would also love to hear your ideas for our final set list.

So thanks again to all of you! We're so grateful for the time we've had making music for you and we can't wait to ROCK one more time.

Love,
THE FEDS

I'm shocked and devastated. I fell in love with your sound at the Hurricane for a New Years eve bash (I can't remember if it was 03 or 02). My friend Shawn Donnegan told me to check you out. It was the most amazing set I've ever seen! I've been a big fan for a while, & wish you all the best of successes.
Peace from the midwest,
-Pepe.

P.S. Will people still be able to purchase your older LPs? Thank you for the time you've been a part of my life, you definitely shined in a multi-faceted local scene.

I owned a bar in Southeast Kansas. My favorite memories are those of the Feds, Bowling For Soup and Space Cadet. The final night of my ownership, The Feds played.

Thanks .

Now I'm bummed...I think I've been around since about 2000 or so. You guys opened for The Burden Brothers (8 Ball days) with Space Cadet and a band with horns at the Gypsy. A Buzz Oven thing with Aiden I think.

Hope to see you at Firewater on the 18th...have to do some schedule juggling, but will make it happen.

It's been a great run for sure!

SAD FACE!!! Understand completely but will miss the Fed vibe the feeling u can only get in the crowd of a live FED show. Ur music has made me dance around like a fool drunk off my ass many times to letting inner demons out to the sound of Sliders voice screaming out like he is pulling the demons out himself. The guitar rifts that litterally made u loose control. Its the greatest. Will miss ur shows greatly. One thing is for sure u guys hav gone from just another band stayin at my house to friends to my saving grace in my time of need. Wont ever b able to give back what u hav given me but know I LOVE u guys and if u ever need a hand give me a call for sure! U can disband but the memories, energy and mmmh that good feeling u send out will never b gone... LUV U!! lightn

P.S. Best memories so many from the hot tub in corpus to dayna gettn knocked the fuck out with a drum stick thrown into the crowd, white castle so many so many.
And obviously the mustashes!!

Wow, this has to be some of the saddest news I've ever heard. I actually have been afraid for awhile I'd see something like this, but I figured it would never happen.
:(

& my idea for the final set list: all of the "A Touch of Panic" album, Butcher's Block, Paper Doll, No Matter What, Turn Off the Mic, Blaster, My Texas, & Fame.

We'd like to take a moment and raise our glasses to The Feds, we've shared the stage with you guys for many years now and with every show we've always known two things.. there'd be some cool cats there to converse with and at the end of the night we'd get our asses rocked.
We'd like to thank you guys for reminding everyone what rock and roll is all about! Good luck to all of you!!

You guys will be sorely missed!!

You guys' deserve so much more than you got. I remember anytime anyone would ask me "So who do you think is going to break out of Dallas next?" I would always answer with "the Fucking FEDS man... have you seen them play??" I know you guys will be modest and say that you appreciate everything that came your way and it just wasn't in the cards or something, and honestly I appreciate that about you guys... BUT ... you guys deserve to be on top of the world. I miss you guys and haven't seen you in too long... I hope I can see a show before its all done. Best of luck in your future musical endeavors, and that means KEEP MAKING MUSIC.... Matt, Jason and Matt... you guys are too bad ass to not keep with something. Dave and Justin, I only got to see you guys play with The Feds a handful of times but what I saw, you guys owned.... keep it up! Man.... I understand but it's totally a downer. Best of luck guys, thanks for the good times, good shows and the good tunes.

well i really lucked out then. the last time you came to austin (that i knew of) was when ya'll played on the congress bridge. my old man and i loaded up the bikes in the truck drove around for about 20 mins during the hottest part of the day to find parking until we realized we didn't have the bike chains to lock them up. I wanted from hell to bfast so freaking bad, thankfully he parked at hooters and sat in the car. i paid to go in and walked to you guys (i could hear you playing). so i bought the cd jammed for a minute and went back the car. damn. and that is all i'll ever get again. thanks for all the previous shows tho. i'll still be blaring your music through all my personal speakers and quietly playing your cds at work (even tho i'm not supposed to).
the good word will still be passed!

And the last great Dallas rock band is dead.

Send up the white smoke.

Well as per fame and fortune - if it makes you feel any better - most "famous" bands don't last as long as you have, and they usually end up leaving with even less.

You've all been kind to me since I was in Utica, Upside and even today.

As long as I can hear Blaster and Housefire I'll be satisfied.

All the best to each and every one of you.

Wow, this is sad news. I'm sorry it's come to this, but I am so honored to have known and met each of you guys. Old, former, and new FEDS. I can't believe I'm going on know you guys for about 5 years. I'm glad to have known you guys through that bulk from the past 13 years. I am also glad I got to see growth and change in the band, members and musically. It was amazing to hear the transition in your music. I will always hope and pray for the best in each of your future endeavors. Know you guys touched me with your friendship and warm and welcoming personalities. I will cherish all my memories. Continue to Rock On in wherever new paths lead you.

As for a final set, some of my favorites that would be nice to hear (that aren't played anymore or I never got to see live at all) are:

My Texas
Paint the White Stripes Black

Insane!
My memories of the Feds are very fond and too much to list. I will always hold the tmes I spent w everyone close to my heart. Gary Wray changed my life, Glen was always so sweet and charming, Matt my fav thing about you was you walking into the house with those big black glasses with the big frames taking over your face. Jasons blue room and making me laugh till I almost peed myself- not to mention Ozzy Dave always wearing his little guys shirt and Jon with his screaming matches with GW. Drunkin nights, fights, fights, fights!!!! BBQ's with the little guys, throwing bbq at eachother, Onyx, Everyone pissed off about Onyx, the hillbilly nexy door, the jungle in the backyard, the porno wall, the scary toliet, the do not use sink, clean boys smelling like irish spring, date night, Matt singing at odd moments, practice at the house, the couch on the porch, girls, girls, girls!!!! Fav show, the 2BC, Bowling for Soup and The Feds...
The friends I've met with you guys, while hanging with you guys, I still adore. I call some of my fondest years the ones I spent with you boys.

My suggestion for the last rock show... bring back all the old members, rock out with all members and of course for Matt to shake his ass. Ashley and I will def.
be front row!
Thank you for sharing yourself with us all! I love you guys!

We'll fellas, it was one hell of a ride!! About 8 and half years ago I witnessed my first Feds experience. It was one I will never forget, one because it was in the Curtain Club, and two it was the local show (97.1 w/ Chaz, the good old days). I even think you guys were the first band of the night, and you were playing material off of "Kick Ball Playa", which caught my attention ( I bought the cd ). I was sure in a crowd of maby 20 people that you guys were gonna blow the hell up. It was by far the most refreshing thing to come out of Dallas in some time, and its a shame somebody didn't truley cash in on such an amazing sound.
Anyway, you guys were a huge influence on Moving Atlas and past projects we were in, and we want to thank you for it!!! Take care!!

My initial desire is to chastise the shit out of y'all for throwing in the towel, but 13 years is a long time so I guess I understand. I just feel robbed because though I've been listening to The Feds for six years, I don't feel like I've had long enough.

I'll miss y'all terribly, but you'll just have to to go into the pantheon of bands I love that I'll never get to see again.

You requested, so here goes...

Memories...
1) My favorite Feds memory will always be the drunken elaborate lie I concocted to tell my job so I could leave early the next day to make it to the video premier of "Saturday Girl". There's a longer story, but too long to be funny. In short, they bought it and I got to go and it was awesome.

2) My other EXTREMELY memorable Feds memory is that one time I drove down to San Marcos and waited forever for the show to start, only for during the first song to be cut short and the show ending right then, when the bouncer grabbed Slider in what looked like an intense rock moment headlock, but was actually a "get of my monitors"-bash-the-mic-in-your-mouth-and-break-your-tooth-cause-I'm-a-dick headlock, in which said fray rolled on top of me and my friend.

Let's see... Last show song ideas...
1) My Texas, for reals.

2) Sleep Til' Noon
3) Bored Enough To Fight
4) (since you'll have all the old peeps...) Six O'Clock
5) And for the same caveat... the rap with everyone at the end of Kickball Player? Pleaseeeeeeeeee?

And as for the very last show? Tulsa? What the shit is that? Can it at least be on Saturday so I have a fighting chance at making it?

Umm, wow, this sucks!

1) Don't ever measure your success as musicians by how big you got or how many albums you sold - you and everyone who has been a member at some point have been INCREDIBLE musicians with true music in their hearts and that's really what matters

2) You were the easiest band/DJ/Musical performance I have ever had to promote - you guys sold yourselves - AND I can speak from personal experience that you weren't a bunch of assholes and somehow still pulled off some of the most amazing rock performances I've ever seen in my life. I know a lot of other people feel the same way - and we still selfishly wish you could go playing on forever.

3) myself having a husband who's a musician can understand the difficult balance that being in a band becomes once the years drag on and that big contract doesn't come around, and some of you have families and loved ones to think about and your priorities and ideas do sometimes change - but never stop making music - It's what makes you happy

4) Could you put this off for a little longer?! I've been all swept up with being a stay-at-home Mom that I've totally put off going to shows - and now I think CRAP! could I never see The Feds play again?! tragic tragic news, so I'll try and make it to the last show

Man this sucks. You guys are one of my favorite bands and I listen to you all the time. My favorite Feds moment was last year when you played with BFS in Plano. These kids started fighting and then one of them hit a cop. Slider stopped the show and kinda made fun of the kids. It was funny as hell. I am gonna miss you guys.
