arright, so I'm here in ny, yup.

and let's just say I've applied to a lot of jobs. and I haven't exactly gotten any yet, none of the 35+ I have applied for. even the temp agencies show no love. SO I have started playing on the street, just for food $, and that has been fucking HILARIOUS! It really kind of catches people off guard! some people walk by and just look APPAULED! others smile, others I can see I have given a chuckle to. it's kind of a nice accident, and it's sort of reassuring knowing that yeah, ya know the banjo will probably keep me alive. people love banjos man, like it's a long-lost family member - their faces light up! it's really sweet.

all this is to say too I've started writing a lot. mostly observations about how much things have changed in my immediate viewfinder.

oh and what this is really about too is that I'll do anything for $ right now! play at your grandma's house! play while you make out with your brother in the bathroom! play in suit made of cucumbers while you film it! or theatrical work, (just did a lot of work for 365 july fest at the public theater in NYC, and in june wrote music for susan simpson's puppet play in LA http://www.manualarchives.org/ ) --- I can do anything with my banjo for your money. I'll even busk in your living room right when you wake up in the morning! just like having your own personal slave!! i'll write you a wake up song!

or anything else too: i know how to make websites, i am a SUPER AV geek, i am good with children and dogs, i'm a likeable gal i swear! honestly i don't give a fuck what i do here, i just need to be able to pay the rent, and since neither of my college degrees are really cutting it, i thought i'd try my hand at utili-blogging.

wordup.

PS one of the great things that happened so far while I've been here is that Dr. Dog has asked me to open for them on an upcoming tour! that's crazy business! I'm excited! however it makes finding work even harder, unless the work is touring, which is all i wanna do anyway, so its funny how these circles create themselves.
