It may seem like I just copied the email that I sent out earlier today, but I swear there's new content interspersed throughout.
First off, I just found out this morning that CLOSET SPACE is screening as part of the Boomtown Film and Music Festival in Beaumont. CLOSET SPACE is scheduled to screen with the experimental short Cycle of Psychosis on May 17th at 11 AM in the Beaumont Civic Center Arena. CS is also a Finalist in the Narrative Feature category of the competetion. The awards ceremony is that night at 6 PM as well. I'm going to try and make it out if I can pull myself away from set-building for WALKING DISTANCE (more on that below).
Also remember that CLOSET SPACE is also screening at the RIOFAN festival in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on Friday May 9th. Check out the fest site at http://www.riofan.com.br if you haven't already. You don't need to speak Portuguese to see that we're in good company.
As for WALKING DISTANCE - we start shooting on June 13. It's going to be epic, and nothing like any of us have done before. We've just added Reggie Bannister (PHANTASM series, BUBBA HO-TEP), and Debbie Rochon (tons of movies, FANGORIA Radio hostess) to the cast, and we're looking to lock down a few more genre names before we get going. Reggie will be playing the character of "Joseph Webber" and Debbie will be rocking "Marie Gray". Those names mean nothing to you if you haven't seen the script, but if you have, then you get the idea.
WALKING DISTANCE is definitely a huge leap forward for Upstart Filmworks. Aside from the names, a great deal of the "usual suspects" will be returning both in front of and behind the scenes. The rest of the cast includes people from CLOSET SPACE, FLESH KEEPER, SWEATSHOP, SWAY, RED VICTORIA and even the Jonah video. CLOSET SPACE's James LaMarr is my other Executive Producer, 100 TEARS' Marcus Koch is our FX Supervisor (again), and SWEATSHOP's Stacy Davidson is or Visual FX Coordinator (again). Trust me, they ALL have their work cut out for them, and so do I. It's going to be nuts.
Lastly, in preparation for the big shoot, I've been accumulating a ton of chroma key paint and material, so we'll have a pretty bitchin' green screen set up for the extensive keying work we'll be doing. I also just scooped up a Mole Richardson Junior (2K) and a Senior (5K) on eBay to augment our lighting capabilities. I'm saying all this to say "feel free to contact me about equipment or studio rental to offset the costs I just incurred" to all the local indie film people.
And James, before you ask, no, I didn't spend any "movie money" on that stuff.
