Kansas City Kings show Fuerza Latina what it takes to play in the PASL. Judging by the outcome, Fuerza has a long way to go!
When you're an expansion franchise in any league, first game jitters are always a concern. The Kings had those same jitters last year as a first year Midwest PASL franchise. But Fuerza Latina has a lot more to be concerned about then being just a newcomer to the PASL ranks. Twenty (20) seconds into the start of the match, it was obvious that Fuerza Latina has a long way to go to compete with the defending Midwest Division Champion Kansas City Kings. An 18-1 laugher was the final result of the 2008-2009 Kansas City Kings home PASL debut.
First Quarter-- United States National Arena Soccer Team member Nick Kelly started the game on the right note, with an upper 90 bomb, assisted by Mirsad Dzilic just twenty (20) seconds into the first quarter. The score at the end of the first quarter was 7-0 Kings.
Second Quarter-- Fuerza came out strong after the whistle, and scored the first goal of the quarter by Rodolfo Monroy at 13:10. 6:46 Power Play Goal by James Katajwa, (Fuerza Latina PEN for 6th Penalty). Kings lead 8-1. James netted 2 additional goals in the 2nd quarter, to give him a hat track in just 15 minutes. The score at half time was 11-1 --Kings.
Third Quarter-- Just three goals in the 3rd quarter. Mirsad opens the scoring in the third quarter for the KC Kings in the 13th minute. The scoring slowed down a bit with additional scores from Nick Kelly (7:30) and Mirsad (4:50). Kings leading 14-1 at the end of three.
Fourth Quarter-- Nick Kelly scored the first goal of the 4th quarter, which saw, Chaz, Lucas and Stefan all add additional goals in the final quarter. Final score 18-1 Kings.
