September 10, 2008 - Wednesday

I know this is a few minutes early. It is because I'm so anxious to give the news. Read it yourself.

Yes, here it is- the announcement that you thought you wouldn't live to hear. I can now confirm that on Thursday, September 11 at 9:00pm eastern, I will be appearing on Fox Network's "Kitchen Nightmares." i urge all of you to tune in to see my gitty performance as one of Dee Snider's table guests as Chef Gordon Ramsay makes a couragous attempt to transform the "Handlebar Resturaunt and Lounge."

In other breaking network television news, look for Judah Friedlander to sport a vintage Cactus Jack shirt on an upcoming  episode of  "30 Rock."

Okay, so maybe this announcement wasn't all that urgent. But things have been a little hectic since September 1st and my move to TNA!  So I felt like stepping back from the seriousness of the situation and having a little fun.

On to more serious stuff. I've been really interested to see all the comments about my move, especially the ones pretaining to how my legacy will be affected by such a departure.

Despite having been occasionally frustrated with WWE, I was actually happy with how my legacy was protected, built, and capitalized on during my last three years there.

I was going to get  in depth about this, but I apparently promised my kids I'd make snow cones with them, so I've got about 5 minutesof writing time left before they rebel on their dad.

How will TNA affect my legacy? Well, I guess that remains to be seen. Most successes are based on a series of taking chances. Sorry, the snow cone situation has become a little more serious. Try explaining to a five year old why he needs to stop  playing with a Chris Benoit action figure.

On September 14th, I will be appearing at the Wrestler's Rescue benefit, at the Radisson Hotel in Piscataway, New Jersey. I will be sigining autographs from 11 am to 1 pm. This is a great attempt by Dawn Marie to both helpout and create awareness for problems facing former wrestlers. I am proud to say that 100 PERCENT of ALL MY PROCEEDS go directly to WRESTLER's RESCUE. Also be on  the lookout because I will be selling some personal career items as well. You never know what I might bring. And all of those sales go to WRESTLER'S RESCUE. I'm hoping that we can raise some money for this very worthy cause.

Okay,  things are better now. Hughie found his Big Daddy V figure.

Good Luck to you in TNA, I look forward of seeing you there, you have my full support, I'm so tired of WWE lockerroom lockerroom politcs. TNA offers a lot of real good Talant, lot of up and coming superstars, overall the wrestling seems better than in WWE, but they need some serious changes in their writing/storylines. I'm excited to see you there, and I hope you can kick some major butt!!
Also I'll be sure to watch you in 'kitchen nightmares'

This blog should really have been entitled "Big Daddy V and snow cones" - license to print money right there! I can't watch TNA regularly but will deffinitely be going out of my way to check out any work you do there. Here's to Smackdown's all time 2 announcer! (Just after Funaki of course) :)

Mick, I may be one of your biggest fans, and truthfully I am a little discouraged about this move to TNA (or as I call it in homage to Edge “Totally Not Awesome wrestling” . I don’t think it affects you legacy in any kind of way, what it does do is helps TNA immensely. Now I have to watch several more hours of wrestling every week, because as one of your biggest fans I’m not going to miss it. Even if I do have to sit through Scott Steiner matches. (Ughhhhh) While I will say that I’m disappointed, I’ll be watching.

Come on, Mick! Why can't your child play with a Chris Benoit action figure? Yes, he did some awful things but that should not take away from his legacy as a wrestler. He was one of the greatest technical wrestlers ever, and to take that from him is ridiculous and stupid. What happened at the end of his life has NOTHING to do with the great wrestler he was previous to those events. I would hope that someone as intelligent as you appear to be could separate the actions of a sick man from the legacy of an amazing and gifted wrestler.

I'm pretty sure that Ol' Mickey boy was throwing in his irreverant brand of humor that everyone should come to expect from him...we all know, and I'm including Mick on this one, what a great wrestler Benoit was, and yes the horrible things that happened that day in June will forever be embedded in the minds of wrestling fans who appreciated Chris' work in the ring, but I am sure that Mick was not taking a swipe at Chris Benoit or the actions that took place. He lightened it up with the Big Daddy V comment at the end.. Love ya Mick, but not in an Al Snow kind of way...

I really enjoyed your commentary on Smackdown!, and I'm sad to see you go. I've never really watched TNA due to the fact that the storylines seem to never make much sense. Maybe now I have a reason to tune in once or twice.
Rest assured, your legacy is intact. Not only your wrestling legacy, but to this father, you've been quite the inspiration. Your books have been a joy that I hope to share with my son as soon as he can sit through a 700+ page book. And yes, I plan on reading it to him, one page at time!

Mick I think this helps push your legacy even farther than you could have ever believed (if that sort of thing is important to you, that is). You see, I've watched wrestling for a looooooong time. The first match I ever saw was when Hogan defeated Sheik for the title. And in that time WWE always had competition. When they eventually bought out WCW, it hurt the wrestling industry.

Now what's the point to this little bit of history I'm spewing here?

The Monday Night War. It was very good for the wrestling business, but things took a HUGE turn, the night you won the WWE Championship for the first time. Ratings show that. And the reason so many fans flipped channels from Nitro to Raw that night wasn't because they were fans of only WWE. They were fans of YOURS who had followed your work for a long time, even in WCW. When Tony made his statement about you winning the title it changed the industry forever. It made people believe in wrestling again. It made people believe that the bookers and creative staff weren't just pushing the big body building guys who did 3 minutes of posing in the ring for a huge pay-off. They were willing to push guys who worked their tails off.

I know this all sounds a tad like an ass kissing festival, but I assure you, not only am I not Vince McMahon, I do not have my own club either.

Your ability to allow WWE to have enough faith in you to carry their company, put that title on you. And it completely changed the Monday Night Wars.

Now you're moving on to TNA. A smaller organization, but one with a ton of heart. TNA has wanted for a long time to compete with WWE. They've taken shot after shot after shot at WWE. And WWE has ignored it all (well, at least they're trying to make fans think they're ignoring TNA).

You're move to TNA, is the equivalent of you winning the WWE Championship for the first time.

Obviously long time fans of Cactus Jack will tune in to Spike TV on Thursdays to see you (thats cheap plug for you by the way).

But the big thing is younger fans who only recently got to learn of your career will want to watch too.

Mick you changed the entire wrestling landscape with your first title win. And you could potentially be doing it again.

The Monday Night Wars was one of wrestling highest points in all of it's history. You could very well be the one to bring back that feeling of competition and excitement again.

So yes Mick, not only do you have a legacy, but you have an amazing one. One that could very well change wrestling forever (for a second time).

Hey Strawberry Snow Cones are the sh*t , man.

with playing with a Chris Benoit action figure
eh, thats hard man trying to explain to an adult is hard because I still don't understand what happened Or rather I don't understand why he did that to me it sounded like watching the Amityville Horror House his Monsters possessed him to do very bad things thats as close to the truth and what I would tell a child on that. With all that he was a great wrestler to watch.

I never watch Kitchen Nightmares,My Kitchen had enouph nightmares with me cooking anyway.

You frustrated with WWE,nah we couldn't tell lol
The Stories I've heard over there with you and WWE/f
I still see you to the future going back and fixing it up with Vinny again

It's like KISS or any old school rock band
the band members say what they don't mean and they break but really do care about each other, then they do a reunion and love making more money so yeah,

Mick,

Look forward to seeing you on "Kitchen Nightmares" on Patriots Day September 11th!

You leaving WWE and joining TNA was a very brave move. What you leave behind is obvious
but what you go into is unknown. TNA needs a Mick Foley to continue it's ascent in being
competitive. Don't judge them on anything but your experience. Lots of whiners make a
lot of noise when it comes to the world or wrestling. I wish you the best of luck and know
that TNA will be a great experience. Hope to see you in Oshawa this Sunday!
