Who Gives Kudos:

Friday, June 30, 2006

I think most people read these blogs from work so you may be reading this after a nice, relaxing 4 day weekend.  I usually spend July 4th at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri, but because of a crazy work schedule the hubby and I are staying in LA this year.  I'll miss my Dad's BBQ ribs and the family boat rides.  (Boy, typing that makes me homesick.)

Our LA relatives are hosting a BBQ and we plan to see fireworks with my nephew so that should be fun at least.  And, we are going to the Premiere of Steve's new movie Little Miss Sunshine which I haven't seen but is supposed to be GREAT!

In other news...big thanks to MW from Santa Barbara, CA for alerting me to the new Office Promo contest run by NBC.com and YouTube.  Create and upload an original 20 second promo for The Office and the winners of the contest will have their promo run on NBC over the summer.  Here is a link for more details.  Good luck!

http://www.nbc.com/The_Office/contest/

Maura from Terryville, CT figured out how to get an Office ring tone on your phone.  She was generous to share the details:

"If your phone has internet access and the ability to send text messages then you can get the office ring tone.  You need to find an area with 5 bars of service.  Then you text the message NB118 to 62288.  It then replies with a text message and you reply with the letter Y.  The next thing that happens is you will receive a "browser message" with a website.  You need to go to this website on your phone. From there it will automatically download the ring tone.  The cost of this is $1.99 plus the cost of 5 text messages and some internet access.  I have to stress that you MUST be in an area with very very good signal if you want to download the ring tone through the air."

Here is the website of where she got this info :
http://www.nbc.com/boards/TheOffice/thread-563065-1.html

Good news for charity!  Television Without Pity, hosted an auction for a childrens charity called Dewey Donations System.  People bid to have their favorite shows recapped.  Well, on the Office Forum at TWoP, the fans, lead by TV_Buffy, banded together and within the span of 48 hours were able to win with a bid of $730!!  The children's charity for this auction is one that is helping build up the libraries, in the Harrison County (MS) library system that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.

www.deweydonationsytem.org

Thanks to Boof , Ginger and Julie B. for writing me about it.  (Others wrote me too but I think they were the first.)  And, thanks to everyone for doing a great thing in the name of our show.

Finally, I have a new favorite shirt!  I got it on Wednesday and I've already worn it twice.  I ordered it from www.Cafepress.com.  Do a search of Dunder Mifflin to find it.  I think it cost like $18.99.

Here is a photo of the shirt and one of me wearing it.  That scrappy mutt in the photo is my dog Wesley who I figured deserved some recognition.  His big brother Andy has gotten quite famous and I don't want any rivalry between them.

Have a GREAT 4th of July!

P.S.  I finally figured out how to use Photobucket.  Fun!

That dog is adorable!! And I love cafepress, I'll have to go check out all the dunder mifflin stuff.  I love the ones that are like that shirt, where you either get it or you don't.

Also....my friend is getting married next May, and my friend who is also obsessed with The Office are both bridesmaids.  Well, one of the bride's kinda-friends went up to her at a memorial service (of all places) and asked if she could be a bridesmaid!!  When we were told the story, my friend and I both said, "that happened on the office!!!"  It was really funny, and I had to share it with you!

It is probably my favorite of Season 2 as well.  It was originally called "My Grilled Foot" which is what I still call it when I talk about it.  It was later renamed "The Injury".

I've been in a wheelchair all of my life, and I thought that episode was one of the funniest things that I have ever seen.

I loved the scene where Michael brings in the guest speaker in a wheelchair, and nobody makes a big deal of his disability.

It actually reminded me of my situation.  I am teacher in the Hazelwood School District here in St. Louis, and I've been on staff for ten years.  It's always fun to watch the first-year teachers try to help me with EVERYTHING and to see all of the teachers that have known me for years just ignore me and let me do things on my own.  I think it kind of freaks out the newbies.

Have a great 4th, it's a shame you can't be at the Lake of the Ozarks.  My grandparents used to have a place there, and I have so many unbelievable memories of summers there.

Have a good one, and it was a shame that you didn't win Celebrity Poker Showdown...you played great though.

Kevin

That is one of the best Office t-shirts I've seen. I wonder if there is a shirt available with a dundie winner for 'bushiest beaver' yet. I think I'd get that one. Maybe I should just make my own pair of underwear.

Thanks for the blog, Jenna.  You'll have to do a blog next time on how to use Photobucket for the computer illiterate ones out here. I still can't figure out how to insert photos for people.  :-)

Wesley is adorable.  Sorry you aren't able to go home for the holiday, but hopefully you'll still enjoy your weekend!

that shirt kicks ass! you know what? 'kicks ass' is pretty old....ya, i wanna start saying something new...something hip. Based on the shirt, i think 'thats shirt burns foot" is better! Ya...start using that, people! "This beer burns foot!", "oh lordy, this Wendy's Frosty certainly burns foot on a hot day like this"...yeah...this totally works. Let's make it happen!

You know, I think one of the things that makes watching "The Office" so fun is that the fact that you all enjoy the show and each other comes through SO much.  You guys write the blog entries, and you buy shirts from cafepress, and you wish people a happy birthday.  It shows that you love the show, and it shows that you care about the fans.  This way, not only do I get to be highly entertained, but I feel so special, too!  And I like feeling special.  And the result is that I then love the show more and more.  I really think that this is a circumstance in which everyone wins.

Thanks for the news about the ring tone.  I know my sister has been desperately wanting it, to the point of trying to record it off the TV and transferring it somehow onto her cell phone.  She's a very dedicated person.  But this may be easier.  You know, just maybe.

Happy 4th!

The shirt and picture rock!

The ringtone method you describe doesn't work for everyone.

Here is a method to get the ringtone on a Treo650 which should work for most Treo's and other phones that can take ".wave" files

Best of all it is FREE...

That's such a cute shirt (but I'm a sucker for pink)! I might have to buy one to go along with my Glarkware "Stapler" shirt (it's not mine, but it's just like the one pictured in photo #8 here).

I'm one of those people that reads Myspace from work (shhh!) but unfortunately I don't have a four-day weekend. I don't get to leave work until 12:30am (yes AM) tonight (well, technically on Saturday), and I have to work on Monday night until 12:30am on the 4th. Blergh. Oh, and I'm on-call too. :(

I have an Office ringtone, but my phone plays MP3s so I just sent one to my phone via Bluetooth. I got the file at the link to OfficeTally someone posted above.

Hope you have a happy 4th as well!

And the link a few comments above isn't the one I was thinking of. This one is:

There's MP3, MIDI and WAV versions of the theme song, so they should work on almost any phone.

I was going to buy that shirt actually but I've never bought anything off CafePress, so I wasn't sure what to expect.  I didn't see the pink ringer shirt, though!  Very cool!  Next time I get paid, I'll definitely buy one.  How long did it take for the shirt to be delivered?

I live about 10 miles away from Fort Wayne, IN, (I also go to school there) so that's where I'll be spending my 4th.  Hope you have a fantastic weekend, Jenna!  Thanks for all you do on this blog!  :)

The Ozarks are beautiful country. My folks grew up around Tipton, and I've spent tons of time around Sedalia, California, Versailles. It is something to see in the summer. And the fall colors are unbelievable. Everyone should check it out. regards, Bill

P.S. Our two weiner dogs, Zoe & Mac (that's Mac on the left) strongly believe they burn foot!! Your puppy is extremely cute, but ours have informed us that no other puppies measure up (or so they tell us)!

I love my Office ringtone! My husband got it for me (free); I have no idea how but I will ask him.I love that it starts out soft and gets progressively louder: perfect for a ringtone. But I still need to figure out how to program my phone to ring more than 4 times, as this cuts off the tune prematurely. I would rather have my callers wait through 6 or 7 rings so I can hear the whole Office theme before answering the phone!I don't know what kudos are but I will give you two of them anyway.

Reminds me of my favorite t-shirt from the spoof website lasikathome.com.

This one really kicks-- I mean burns foot.  Maybe "this one burns eye" actually has a better ring to it.
