Sorry it has taken me so long to get this blog out about the SAG awards. I’ve been trying to get it finished for the past few days and I just keep getting distracted by other things. I don’t know where my time goes! But, I took a TON of photos so I’m able to give you a glimpse behind-the-scenes!
To start things off…I’m SO HAPPY with how my dress turned out!

The neckline isn’t nearly as plungey as I thought. It felt way more revealing. (Must be the Midwestern values.) I was so worried about it, I had 3 fittings to make sure nothing fell out of place.
The accessories were my favorite part of the outfit:

Putting together a red carpet look is hard work. You have to think of so many elements – how does it photograph, can I wear this comfortably for 10 hours, can I sit down, has someone else worn this dress, how should I do my hair and makeup, can I fit a power bar and phone in my purse? As you know, I'm a practical girl. Dressing for the red carpet is a whole new ballgame for me. But I think I'm doing pretty good.
Check out my BEFORE and AFTER photos:

Okay, moving on. The dressing up is the fun stuff. The red carpet is work. Let’s start with the arrival. When you arrive at an award show you step out of your quiet car into a mad crowd of people filled with fans, guests, media, Brad Pitt. This is what it looks like as you step into the red carpet tent:

The red carpet is very long and takes about an hour to walk down. I took a photo of Angela posing for photos. Look at how long the line of photographers is! You pose for a few seconds and then walk a few steps and pose again. The entire time people are SCREAMING at you to look at their camera or face a certain way or move into the light or move out of the way of another person. It’s mayhem. You have to keep a smile on your face and try not to look frazzled.
This is what you see:

They also have these little booths set up for the different talk shows like E!, Access Hollywood, Entertainment Tonight. You wait on the carpet for a break and then step up and quickly do an interview. Here is what it looks like from my perspective:

Once you get inside it gets better. Everyone has an assigned seat. There was a plate of food waiting. And a menu telling you what you are eating. My favorite was the crab salad. During the commercial breaks people get up and mill about.
After the awards there was a party next to the theater. It was cool. They had more food – I ate macaroni and mini-cream puffs. Yum! For no reason at all Angela, Paul, BJ and I decided to take photos of ourselves fake fighting:

And then Creed jumped up onstage and started singing with the band…which included Mickey Dolenz from The Monkees! How cool is that!?

Angela, Oscar and I danced the night away as usual. That pretty much wraps up the evening. We didn’t win but we had fun.
Tonight I’m appearing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. We’ll be talking about the big Superbowl episode among other things. The other guest is Justin Long. He's awesome!
Speaking of the Superbowl episode, I saw the opening and it is amazing. It is definitely the wildest 2 minutes of The Office ever! There is a semi-spoilerish review here if you are interested:

That's all for now!
