Who Gives Kudos:

November 18, 2008 - Tuesday
Oh, hello!
I didn't see you there. It's been a while.

What's new, you ask?

Well, a couple of things: New record is coming, new year is coming (that has more to do with the rotation of the earth than it does music, but it's still new) and new shows are coming. I'll fill all of you in on the details once I fill myself in. No need to fret. You're second in line (You know how I know? I can see that "2" ticket in your hand. See mine? I've got "1". Plus, you're behind me in the line. That's also how I knew).

What else?

Well, I've decided to let all of you know that I'd like to extend you an invitation:
Invite me to your house, and I'll play songs.

I know, I know, that is certainly NO type of invitation you're familiar with. In fact, it's almost as if I just invited myself into your house... rather than the other way around. If it had been the other way around, well then, that would have been a real live invitation.

But yes, in my never ending search for the wonderful listening environment we songwriters are always searching for (we're very self centered like that, I know), I've decided to take my quest from the public domain (i.e. the bars) to the private.

Don't misunderstand me, I'll still be playing in the bars, and the other music joints of the world... that's what I do, after all. I just wanted to say, just in case you were wondering, just in case you had been thinking about it, just in case the idea had floated into your dome, that yes... yes indeed, I would like to come and play your living room... your garage... your back yard.

I mean, why not? I get to play my songs, and you've got me under your thumb! You can say, "dude, so seriously, what the heck are you talking about in this song," or you can say, "have you ever eaten at Nu-Way Weiners in Macon, Georgia-- the downtown location?" You know, the really important questions. I'll be right there to answer them!

If you're interested, send us an email- info@drewkennedymusic.com.

We're talking about a house concert. It's a pretty simple idea. Times are tough for everyone right now... and I don't think I'm wrong in assuming that people, no matter how tough times may be, still love live music. So you can book me for a show, we can come up with a reasonable price that doesn't break your bank, or empty mine. You can get donations to cover the show, or you can just give it as a gift to your friends. How you handle it isn't really up to me. What is up to me, is the show. I'll play my tunes... heart, soul, and all, and you can spend less than you would at a bar on an average friday night and still get to hear live music!
If you're not interested-- that's ok, too. I'll still be playing at a bar near you sometime soon.

ps- yes, I have! Thank you for asking. Nu-Way makes a fantastic weiner. I also had the cheese fries. They were some excellent cheese fries, if I do say so myself.

Hello my good friend. Many times, when asked about my occupation, though I believe it to be one of the most noble in the land, saying "singer-songwriter" seemed quite trite being every dummy with a guitar in the state of Texas thinks they are just that. So, when asked and I feel the time appropriate I reply, "I manage or manufacture intellectual properties." What you're talking about is one of my favorites though. "Professional Guest" is the handle. It works well for dinner anywhere in the world. For a singer-songwriter, jongleur or poet, the after dinner guitar around the table is the best venue next to a dark, sold out theater and a great sound system.

...and you get to eat!

Scott Joplin had the best I think.
On a piece of music, I don't recall which piece, he signed it:

Scott Joplin - Purveyor of Elite Syncopations.

Go get 'em Hoss

Drew, I really can't believe you would come play in my back yard!!! That would be awesome...and since I am graduating in the spring it would also be a great graduation present. Not to mention that Scott is graduating from college as well.
What could be better than having our amazing cousin come sing some tunes to celebrate the graduation of two of the cousins from college? LOL :P
