First time seeing him live, and I was not disappointed.  He actually surpassed my expectations, which is difficult to do. I knew how good of a finger-picker he was on the acoustic, but his piano playing is equally as proficient.  As for the voice, man it just explodes in a live atmosphere.  However, his lyrical deliver never seems forced.  I was just amazed how naturally the words just flowed out him. 

Another bonus was the excellent sold-out crowd.  Completely silent when they needed to be, and of course enthusiastic between songs.  It was a real pleasure not to have the talkers for a show like this. 

Well worth the 2 hour trip in single-digit temps.  To anyone who appreciates musical genius (if anyone actually happens to read this): go see M. Ward if he comes anywhere near you.
