Now THAT is a picture worth a thousand words. Let's see if there is a sequel.

BTW, the plate of cookies, cake and orchids make a very nice touch.

Girlfriend, I think I woke up everyone in a 20-block radius here when they announced your name. Seriously, neighbor downstairs called to make sure I hadn't hurt myself. Or something. I hollered.

SO proud of you. Said it all along...and you haven't proven me wrong yet. Congratulations!!!!

"This is for the writers! I want to thank all the writers!" You didn't limit that to the Writers Guild of America.
You wrote your way to that podium. You wrote your way to Mason Novick, Dave's Book Club, and a plethora
of awards besides the Big Kahuna. You wrote from your heart. "Blessed are the pure in heart." Well, bless your heart. Some of us you thanked believe we can write our way anywhere we want to go now.

That picture is such a great victory pose. Congratulations, Diablo. From what I'm reading in the papers, your charisma won over a lot of people during your acceptance. I'd say your star was made permanently last night. The only thing that would have made the night better was if Ellen could have nabbed a statue, too.

D-

I love it.

I have to say I had a feeling.

I went to Benet and am also a screenwriter.

My wife and I watch the Academy Awards every year and we try to see all the movies up for best picture. With 3 kids, that gets harder and harder to do. This year it was 2.5. Luckily Juno was one of them.

I have to admit that I have thought about what I would say, and who I would thank as I accept the Oscar for best original (or adapted, I'm not choosy) screenplay. This time I was trying to will you to the win. I feel like 10 degrees removed from winning one after watching you take home the hardware. That might be as close as I get. (Who are we kidding. That is as close as I'm gonna get.)

People say it's an honor to be nominated, which it undoubtedly is, but I was hoping and praying that you would take it home. I'm so happy for you. Enjoy it.

Maybe you can have Benet display it in the trophy case for a few months and I can bring my kids to see it. That would be cool.

Keep on churning out the rocking work.
