It's been crazy busy lately! Back to back art shows. I did very well at the recent Peter's Valley show! Made lots of sales and my new "Love Rocks" experimental art pieces seemed to really strike a chord with people and generated lots of feedback and even more ideas. I'm looking forward to continuing my exploration and expansion on this new venture as it evolves.
I also just finished a political art piece that is going in the Hilltop show this weekend. After hearing all the mud slinging by Palin the past few days I'm really glad I made a positive statement with my art instead. It seems Palin and McCain are deliberately trying to rouse up hatred, anger and fear to the point I'm wondering if the GOP is really the KKK. Instead of letting that crap get to me (well, OK, sometimes it DOES get to me) I purposely wanted to make a POSITIVE political statement. Whether you believe in the law of attraction stuff or not, it is more productive to focus on the positive when you can. I originally was going to make a collage assemblage piece, but one thing lead to another and I somehow ended up making a drawing instead. Actually it's a rubbing on architectural paper from a 3-D template I built using a puzzle of the US (thanks Tom!) and 36 packets of plastic letters from the dollar store. Inspired by many of Barack Obama's positive words, I made sure the piece featured 50 such words and designed it so it has some resemblance to a US flag. The final piece is titled "50 States of an American Dream". I can't figure out how to get this image larger on this blog page...

...but you can see it larger, along with additional shots, in my latest photo album. I'd love to hear any feedback!
This is going to be unveiled at this Friday evening's opening art reception. Should be interesting to see how it goes over in that primarily Republican town!
You betcha!
