this was taken from a fansite dedicated to louise post, veruca salt member and inspiration for the BP 's "song for louise post". everything you never cared to know and less. so, here is the queen herself replying to a number of posts regarding at least one of yer buckpets:
Good morning Lovelies~Here's the dish: I was home from college for Spring break and went to see a band I had never heard of called The Buck Pets at a basement bar near my house where my friend bartended. My current boyfriend had blown me off that night and I had the blues. I was sitting at the bar, drinking Budweiser, (cuz that's what you do when you're in St. Louis) talking to my friend Kathleen when I suddenly was blown the fuck away by the band who hit the stage. They were so ahead of their time--I hadn't heard anything like it before. It was delicious noise-rock. I got lost in it. It was perfect. They were so committed and spectacularly loud. And did I mention their guitar player (who played a black LesPaul...hmmm..coincidence?) was freaking CUTE! ;) After the show we all ended up somewhere in the suburbs at a fan-house-party. And there I met Chris Savage. We flirted the night away and kissed goodnight and he gave me a ring which I still have. I went back to college (and my boyfriend) and he went back on tour and home to Dallas. We exchanged letters for a bit, but by the time I got the call that they were in NY, walking around the Village with no money, playing Maxwells in Hoboken that night, I was back with my b.f. and didn't want to screw things up by going to the show. (My step-sister Sylvia advised me against it!) That was that. I think like three years later when I was in a theater company in Chicago, this friend of mine came up to me and asked if I had heard of a band called the Buck Pets and told me about this song. He brought me a record (vinyl) and I bought it on cassette (haha!) and totally loved the record. I remember listening to it LOUD driving down Lake Shore Drive . I later tracked Chris down and saw them when they played in Chicago at Lounge Ax. We hung out and had fun, made out in the photo booth, etc., but it was not destined to be. Years ago I heard he got married and is living in Dallas...don't know what he's doing musically. I've always wanted to write "Song for Chris Savage"...(started to once with the lyrics 'Dallas Dreamboat") because what a cool name is that?! Not to mention a very cool guy. Maybe I still will...
