Hello everyone, well I guess most of you have heard the latest campaign news and for those who haven't, I'm gonna fill you in.
About three months ago after my match with Vladimir Kozlov, after the show, I asked John Laurinaitis if I could talk with him. I Basically told him that I could put people in the seats and I didn't wanna sound cocky, but I think that they would be pleased with my work if given a full-time position with the company. I went on to explain that I had been in the business a long time and I didn't want to go to my grave without working for a major company. I told him that wrestling was my life and I didn't want to do anything else. I didn't talk about all the trials and tribulations that I had been through over the years, because it's like someone once said "Everybody has a sob story" and I didn't want to bore him with mine. I finally asked Mr. Laurinaitis why I never had gotten a chance to work for the company on a full-time basis. After I said that, Mr. Laurinaitis asked me if I really wanted to know why the WWE haden't hired me so far. Of course I said "Yes". He told me the main reason that I had never gotten a chance to work full-time is because he didn't think that I could make the company any money. He went on to say that he thought that I was a good worker (good wrestler), that I carried myself very professionally, and when I did work for the company(WWE) that I made his guys (wrestlers) look good. After hearing this I told him (politely) that he apparently had never seen anything that Cham-Pain had done. I told him that if he had, that he would never say that I couldn't make the company any money. I went on to plead my case and I told him that it was really hard to show them (WWE) what I could do in a three minute match where I couldn't get the mic (talk on the microphone) and where I was just doing a squash match (a match where you just get beat down by your opponent). Mr. Laurinaitis went on to tell me if I wanted his advice that he thought that I should go to another federation and prove him wrong. He told me to get people interested in me and he would be interested in me.
After that night I went home and thought about what I should do to get people interested in me. I was trying to think of something new and innovative, then I had a crazy idea. I thought I needed to send a message over the internet and I didn't know how I would do it because I didn't have internet service at my house. I called a couple of friends that were setting up a myspace page for me to promote my rap album. They said that I should write a blog and I said, "what is a blog?" After they schooled me on what a blog was I started writing it with the help of my friend Bett Britt. She could type a lot faster than me and she could spell better than me too! I would tell her what to write and she just sat and typed for two hours without ever complaining. I just told my story about how I started wrestling and the journey that it has taken me on over the years. I titled the story Matt, Jeff, Shannon, Shane and the forgotten Beatle and in the first 24 hrs it got 6 thousand views. I sent the blog to a few major wrestling news companies and it was all over the internet that very same week. People started contacting me wanting to do interviews. I did a show called thaOshow.com and my very first time on the show the two hosts, Dann-e O and Big Daddy Donnie asked me to do a weekly segment on the show. We call it " A Glass of Cham-Pain" and it's been a blast! I've also got a magazine article comming out in Fighting Spirit magazine in a couple of weeks from now. It's been amazing to see all of the support that I received from all over the world. It just doesn't seem real sometimes.
Anyway, at the end of the blog I asked the fans to e-mail the WWE, TNA and ROH. I also asked people to carry signs to the live shows that said Hire Cham-Pain if they believed in my cause. To my dismay, signs have been showing up all over the world! Alot of the major superstars for WWE have commented that they have seen my signs in Europe and Australia as well as seeing them in the United States. A few guys told me that they signed fliers that said Hire Cham-Pain in Australia and the support that I've received from the United Kingdom is Amazing!
With all of that being said, I think that I've gotten more than a few people interested in me. I took what John Laurinaitis said to me to heart and I actually made it happen with the help of my new found friends all over the world. This virial marketing campaign has never been done to try and get a job with the WWE or any wrestling federation as far as I know. This campaign has an army of fans that will stop at nothing to see my dream come true. It's getting bigger each and every day.
Last Wednesday evening around 7:30 I received a call from John Laurinaitis a.k.a "Johnny Ace". He introduced himself and by his tone of voice I could tell that he was upset. He asked me if I had started a viral marketing campaign on the internet. I said yes, and he asked me if I had put the talent relations e-mail up on my site. I said yes, and he said "Why would you do that!" I explained that it was already on the internet and I was just reposting it on my site. He said that his e-mail had increased by 150 everyday and that talent relations e-mail had increased by 250. He also said that someone had figured out how to e-mail anybody in the company by just putting the name in front of .com. I said "Well, I didn't mean to cause anybody any problems". Mr Laurinaitis said " I told you before Marty you're just an average guy and I'm not going to hire you". I said, "I'm doing what you asked me to do and I'm just tring to get an F'n job!" Johnny said, " Now you're cursing at a senior vice president!" I said, " I wasn't cursing at you, just at the situation! I'm frustrated" He said, "Well, I'm done doing business with you Marty and you're not welcomed at any of my shows anymore!" Then he hung up the phone.
Now, here's the plan. This is a very good thing because all of the press that I'm gonna get off of this is going make this campaign explode! I want everyone to keep on e-mailing the WWE, but just don't say anything negative about them or any of their employees. I would ask that you e-mail TNA as well, because I was invited to TNA last friday night as a special guest of Terry Taylor (the head booker). The reason this is gonna be a good thing is because I'm getting a lot more exposure because I pissed off Johnny Ace! He's the one who went back on his word, I got people interested and he just dropped the whole thing. The more press we can get over this controversy the better! This whole story would make for great TV, you can't write this shit! I guess if they don't pick this story up and run with it ,what that means is, The WWE doesn't care what the fans want so they'll tell you what you want and you'll like it!
I just want to stress how much I appreciate and love you all. Thank you for being a part of this grassroots movement that has ruffled the feathers of a major wrestling federation. I owe this all to you, the fans! Let's just double our efforts and keep the faith. This thing isn't going exactly as planned, but I like this direction better! I wish you all the best and if you need me I'm just a message away. Thank you so much!
