HEAD'S RESPONSE TO VIDEO CONTROVERSY,

CD BEING PULLED OFF OF SHELVES AT SOME RETAILERS,

AND OPEN CHALLENGE TO CONSERVATIVES

I have received a handful of messages from some conservative people complaining about the sex and drug references in my new music video for FLUSH; and, I have recently learned that some select retailers are pulling my CD from their shelves because of my music video's content.  So, I wanted to give an explanation of what the video means to me; and to address those select retailers that are pulling the CD from their shelves:

The video for FLUSH is about Crystal Meth addiction and the crazy things anyone addicted to Meth will do while they're high or to get their fix. Everything the models were doing in the video is what I was wrapped up in while I was addicted to Meth. The video is a very realistic look at the addiction and where it will lead you if you get hooked. I understand the images of the models may be too much for some people, but honestly, I was just trying to be real with what happened in my life and show where I was, as well as where I am at now.

I was totally imprisoned by Meth (Straight Jacket).

I would do anything to get my Meth (Models being obsessed with Pink Substance).

I was totally kinky and freaky while I was on Meth (Models touching each other and licking Pink Substance off of each other).

I got emotionally, spiritually and physically sick while I was on Meth (Models puking up black tar all over their faces and everywhere else).

I believe I would be dead right now if I continued using Meth, but instead, I chose to surrender my life to Christ and die to myself so He could share His resurrection with me (Models lying down lifeless, getting zipped up in body bags, coming back to life and ripping through the body bags to catch their new BREATH OF LIFE).  Significantly, the images also go along with what the kids (not actors) at the beginning of the video were honestly saying about their addictions.

To be clear, I'm not going to apologize for my video!  But, I did want to clear up any confusion about what the video actually meant and hopefully put some minds at ease.

I have also been informed that my CD is being pulled from a handful of retailers' shelves because of my music video's content. I totally understand that the video may be a bit too much for some conservative people and I respect everyone's choice. But to me, taking my CDs off the shelves because of a music video (that isn't being sold with the CD) is a bit too extreme! There is a huge message of hope on my CD and I believe those retailers that are pulling the CD from their shelves are robbing someone spiritually by taking it off of the shelves. But, thank GOD for iTunes!

I'm not called to be a Sunday School teacher obviously....I mean, just look at me....(Smile).....I'm called to speak to people that understand my language and I'm gonna be as REAL as possible. The CHEESE has to disappear from the Christian media.  I challenge the conservative Christians to start thinking "outside the box," and get real with how they try and connect with the masses!!

As for me--I'm going to do everything I can do to KILL RELIGIOUS MINDSETS THAT CONTINUE TO BE PIGEON-HOLED IN THEIR THINKING!!   DIE!!!  RELIGION!!!  DIE!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah....one more very important thing....I love you all....Even you conservative nit pickers!!!

I think people are missing the point. If my daughter came to me and said I want to be a part of a music video, in it I'm going to dress in barely anything and lick pink sugar off of another girls abdomen I'd tell her over my dead body. While I agree with the Idea that we need to tackle these issues in a very real way, there is a line of decency. I don't agree with your music video because the girls act in a very sexual way. Rambo had a scene where there were some girls on the stage dancing and then some of the military grabbed them off the stage, beat them and then raped them. That scene in no way shape or form made it look sexy. It was grotesque and horrible. No one is saying the real reason they're offended. It was offensive because it was hot! I have struggled with porn before and those girls were hot and sexy and they made me want to see them naked. If you want to represent illicit sex in a real way then make it real. It's not glamorous, it's shallow, vain, and nothing more then a pathetic attempt to find love in the wrong place. If you want to be real that is the message you need to send and while I'm sure you had good intentions, that isn't the message your video sent.

I know where you are coming from. When I first saw this video, I honestly did not know how to take it. However, I showed one of my friends who was addicted to meth, and is now clean. He is not a Christian. After watching the video, he just sat in a daze. When he looked at me, he was close to tears. He said, "If I had seen this when on meth, it would have changed my life." You see, I have never had an addiction to meth. He has. I am a Christian. He is not. However, are we supposed to save the Christians, or reach the sinners? The message of hope behind Head's video hit the mark in my friend. Another way to look at it is that the "conservative" Christians have not been doing their job. They have taken the job God originally gave them, twisted into their own, and now feel the need to regulate their own brothers and sisters. Wake up people, there is a world full of lost souls just waiting for someone to share a message of love and hope...God's love and hope. Instead of spreading love and hope, they choose to judge and condemn. We live in the times when God is a joke and there is absolutely no fear of God. It is time to break the legalism of our forefathers and begin to do real ministry....to sinners.....with love and compassion. If we all were more concerned with who we personally are reaching and witnessing to for Christ rather than what some other Christian put in a video, maybe this world would reflect that. You do what God has called you to do, and let Head do what God has called him to do. He will answer for his video, the same way you will answer for your life, and I will answer for mine. If Head has no reservations, and I have personally seen the effect it has on a sinner, then that is good enough for me. We should all be focusing our energy on the lost, not on attacking a fellow brother or sister of God....Oh....and by the way, Rambo has nothing to do with Head's video.....at all.

Dude...if you are that concerned about you daughter seeing explicit content, why would you show her anyways? Don't blame Brian for this. He IS being real. When you are addicted to drugs like that, women become objects and you abuse life as a whole. It's just symbolism and there was nothing wrong with it. You are looking at this video in a wrong sense of mind. Just be open minded with it and see where he was going with it. Drugs, lust...etc.

SIR,,, JUST BECAUSE YOU DID NOT GET THE MESSAGE, DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE MESSAGE IS NOT WORTH BEING TOLD.....IF YOU HAD BAD THOUGHTS WHEN YOU SAW THE MODELS IN THE VIDEO,,THEN YOU NEED TO PRAY FOR GOD TO BREAK YOUR CHAINS...MAYBE THIS WAS A TEST FOR YOU....YOU HAVE TO FACE YOUR ADDICTIONS AND BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF AND WITH GOD...IF YOU COULD NOT HANDLE THIS VIDEO,, IM SURE YOU HAVE WAY BIGGER STRUGGLES IN THE WORLD.......... I PRAY GOD WILL BREAK YOUR CHAINS....

Brian, I totally agree with you. When I first saw the video, I was seeing a different side of the world that is benounce to us. That is creative thinking on the approach to the video. And I believe that all people; children & adults; should view this video and have a better understanding of where you came from and where the world is headed. Without Christ we as individuals suffer, and indeed we suffer greatly. The only way out is thru the son Jesus Christ. I am behind you on the CD, I think its great, creative, and will be a testimony to others. You keep pushing and believing and never let the enemy tear you down. Brother you have come too far.
And yes, let us ALL think outside the box!!!

WE LOVE YOU TOO!

I totally got the message from the video before your explanation and I thought it was a positive message. The album is just awesome and just yesterday I was driving down the road on my way to an appointment and the cd was playing and I wasnt really paying attention and then all of a sudden I was overwhelmed with chills and an uncrtolable sobbing so I had to pull over for a bit an regroup, but I was led to repent of my sins first. The song that was playing was Adonai, and I did research and it means my lord my master. I have bought an extra copy to give to my grandmother who is an evangelist/missionary in foreign countries and she is going to play the album at her youth conferences.
GREAT ALBUM!!! keep up the good fight for Christ!!!

So let me get this right, Marilyn Manson can do whatever he wants in videos, Hollywood can put whatever they want in videos but when someone touches that nerve thats that close to home everybody freaks out. Basically as long as the music scene is full of lies and bs its ok but when someone tells the truth or depicts it in a video its controversial. I overcame my meth addiction through losing every friend I ever had. People in this world know that this is a problem but they choose to Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, and See No Evil.
Cheers Brian you are a good man so keep up God's work

You go Brian! lol. That is a bit too far, considering that most of the music videos on tv are nothing but useless garbage that have no meaning behind it expect...."Oh look at all the money I have...or all the chicks I have...". A majority of Christians (not all) are very close minded. But, your fans know your meaning...and we support you and your music.

I must say, that was very well thought out. I thought that the video was powerful and blunt in the reality of what drugs and addiction can do to someone.

I still see a big struggle between some conservative people not being able to embrace the realness in peoples testimony. I know that several times my pastor has been asked to censor his testimony. I don't see how anyone who is truly worried about saving lost souls can consciously ask someone to censor their testimony. The world doesn't sensor people from drugs, sex, death and other violence.
Why should any one of us censor our own experiences because of what other people think? Maybe someone else is going thru the same struggles we went thru, and the Holy Spirit is going to use that part of our old life to reach someone else?

Thanks for sharing your testimony in music and video, don't let this stop you.

God Bless,
Steven

Your CD is real and it's raw and it reaches out to people.

Take the CD away...that's just less people being reached out too.

Head,

You know this is a test from Satan. these so called conserative people are probably parents that don't understand or have been their and don't want to admit it to their children. I may be one of those rare parents that have shared my hell with my children. I have 2 teenagers 14 and 18 and I am please to say because of my honesty they have not made bad choices. I openly support you and have asked them to read your book. It was my oldest son that brought your new album to me and we share the lessons your music brings. Although they are not born again at this time I have found my way of witnessing to them and it is through your music and the music of other Christian musicans. Don't worry about this. God promised you he would be with you always. This is just a test and I bet that this contraversy will bring your videos to the masses.

Love in Christ,

That is awesome, and I totally agree with you! When I first saw the video I was like whoo, there's girls licking each other, but I totally see the realtily in what you potrayed in the Video. I love the video, and it was perfect for the song, it captured the meaning well. For myself I saw it as how something can look so pure, and attracitve, but in realilty it's just dirty. Everything about the video affected me in a postive manner. I'm gald you're not apolgizing, theres no need. Christians will always have there closed mind set and that's always disapointed me. I'm glad you're Real, and I'm glad you've kept your sound to bring the same people who love you, (and new) to see that God is able to reach you WHATEVER stgate you are in. You're living proof for sure, so thanks Head and God Bless.

Amen! I couldnt agree with you more! Some people are just so closed minded! You are doing an amazing job by getting the Word out there. You are reaching out to the younger generation, which is what we need! Because one day they are going to be the ones that lead this nation! I'm so proud of you for taking a stand for whats right! and NO you shouldnt have to apologize for your video, thats something that happened in your life that God delivered you from. You should be proud! O.... by the way... You should really consider coming to Oklahoma soon! PLEASE! I have seen Korn two times and thought that they were okay. But there was a void there! It tells us in the bible we will be persecuted for our faith. Obviously, Brian is being persecuted by his brothers.........I must admit, I watched the video and I thought 'Huh? What's that all about?' and that reason being I am ignorant to drugs. I've never done drugs, heck I've never been around someone drugs. But reading what Brian said, and reading his book, knowing what an honest and extreme guy he is, I saw it and I thought 'What a testimony to the glory of God!'........We as Christians, we go through a lot of crap. But this is a development of character. Romans 5 says "We can rejoice too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us - they help us learn to endure. And endurance develops strength of character in us ad character strengthens our confident expectation of salvation."........An ordinary Christian (Including me, I am not one to judge) would of pulled that video off to increase CD sales. Brian has developed so much that he will stand up for his daddy, his father, his God. Bless you Brian for your ministry. Don't just inspire people as a musician, you could of done that in KoRn and can with your CD now, but inspire Christians to be extreme and not go to the formal things that please the world.........Bless you brother........Dan

This is so crazy. Pulling the album off the shelves because of its video? Bit weird. I'm not religious however so maybe I don't fully "understand" why the video was so bad. Sure a couple of girl lick each other. Big whoop, there are more scandalous things going on every night on television shows than that video. Just don't watch the video if you don't want to see it. IT'S NOT HARD PEOPLE.

anyways....

Brian, I fully support you on getting the album back into those stores.

This album, wow. It's great. I honestly was not expecting it to be this good. Awesome riffs. Great vocals (good job by the way) and pretty much great all around songs. Oh and I love that you managed to get Josh Freese to play on the record. He is one of my favourite drummers. I also really like that the album's lyrical content is quite broad. I thought it was going to be fairly christian orientated (don't get me wrong, I have nothing against anyone who is religious) but it turns out there are quite a few themes running through the album which is nice.

Whether you are christian or not. BUY THIS ALBUM. Personally I have been listening to it non-stop. It's just a really really good metal album.
Good times :P

P.S. I like the idea around the Die religion die song. How it's not about whether you go to church etc its about your own beliefs kinda thing. At least thats what I think you're getting at....people believing in their own thing right? That's how I feel it should be like anyway.

Anyways cheers for making a great album Brian if you happen to read this, and goodluck with all future endeavours :)

I'm glad you're addressing the 'issue' at hand. Personally I think it is a great video, but to be honest I was a little taken back with the pretty girls in the video...reason being, I'm still struggling on some of my weak spots, and looking at pretty girls is still a sensitive issue...But by NO MEANS, would I take your record off shelves. People can be mad at the video or what-not, but are these people even listening to the words??? The record is amazing, the meaning behind your words are truthful and passionate...'GOD SAVE ME FROM MYSELF, GOD SAVE ME FROM MY HELL.' We are all in our personal hell, and we need to be saved, DAILY! Keep doing your thing head and I can't wait for you to tour...I will be there...just make sure you hit Central Florida....smile.....God Bless
