Press Release for Delirious?

Sunday 6th July 2008

The End of an Era……

We would like to address all our fans, our friends and people around the world who have faithfully supported Delirious?

After 14 albums, thousands of shows in front of millions of people, and many extraordinary memories, we have decided that at the end of 2009 we will take a break from recording and playing as a band.

Our decision was triggered by a request from Martin to be released from the band to pursue new projects including his work with CompassionArt and the desire to be at home more with Anna and his children. We have of course honoured this request and made a decision together that now is the time to end this chapter of our lives.

We will continue to play and be excited about our current tours and bookings but will not be adding many more over the coming 17 months..

We are all so deeply grateful to our incredible fans who have sung the songs and allowed Delirious? the privilege of providing the soundtrack to many lives over the years. From the school hall in Littlehampton to the stadiums of the world we have many stories to tell our children's children. Delirious also would not be what it is without our amazing wives and families, and our gratitude to them is immense. We will now move forward to the next part of our lives where new challenges unfold and greater stories will be written.

We want to make it absolutely clear that although this decision has been extremely painful and difficult, we are still great friends and our respect for each other is unquestionable. We love playing in this band together and know that even though 2009 will bring an end to this current journey, there will be more adventures together in years to come.

We always used to say that we were 'taking it wherever it goes'. The music ended up going further and deeper than we could ever have dreamed, yet we are now at a point where our creative futures will spread out and take on different journeys.

Thanks again for believing in us through all these years. We believe the best is yet to come.

Dearest Brothers,
This is truley a sad day in Christian music. Many people have been touched by your music, and the integrity that you present to all who have had the opportunity to see or hear you.
I for one though have been through a similar experience with my previous band, and know the need to move on to new callings from God. Always keep in mind the memories of the lives you have touched, the people you have met, the friends you have made.
Your music will live on in the hearts of your fans, and many musicians will try to follow the example you have set. I join the other fans in support for you in prayer, that your remaining engagements will be blessed, and that your future will bring your gifts and talents to a higher level that will advance the Kingdom of God.
Yes this is sad news for us who love your ministry, but I know God has you in the palm of his hands and bring you from glory to glory.....God bless you guys, and your families who have sacrificed being with you these many years.

I'm really gutted to hear this news - I have enjoyed your music for a few years and even more so since seeing you live at the Lemon Tree last year. It was a magic evening and I thank you for it. I understand your decision, however, and wish you all every blessing in whatever direction your lives are going to take now.
God bless,
Debbie.

Wow, this is really quite a blow! I am crushed! I can't imagine life without looking forward to your shows and new albums. This must have been a very difficult decision but I know you will all be blessed for following God's call on your life. Thank you all so much for teaching me how to really worship and how to fall in love with Jesus. If it wasn't for you, I would probably not be involved with a spirit-filled church or with most of the activities I now enjoy. And I know I would not be nearly as close to God. Thank you all so much for all you've done. Your music will live on in my heart forever. This is not the end.

Love,
Ann

So sorry to hear that you will be taking time out from touring and recording as a group, but really happy for you, in that you're are making the deciscion to spend more time with the family:). God leads us into many places. You have helped keep Gods word so alive , for so many....of all ages, and for so long. You have encouraged so many to keep looking at the scriptures. All the best for the future. Marianne x

whoooshh...that's the sound of the wind going out of my sails.

Sad but I completely understand. I've been a fan since "Live and in the Can" and you guys were one of the few quality Christian acts out there.

I do hope that you will revisit Delirious after this season. You will be missed.

This week I was thinking of seeing you guys live a few years ago in Barneveld, The Netherlands and that it was a wonderful experience. Besides that concert I have seen you guys perform at Winter Wonder Rock, Zwolle and at the EO Youthday around 1999 or 2000. Thanks for the good memories. You guys Rock! For the Lord... :)

If it's time to step back, it's time to step back. Take care and 'till another time.

Stu, Martin & all. I will never forget the "Launching" of your full time ministry in Music that was ushered in as Keep the Fire in TACF in Toronto in 1995. As an older brother and worship minister for many years, I came to Toronto from California with no other purpose that to lay the hands of wisdon on you in prayer. Obediently I prayed, and you allowed some strange guy in his late 40s pray and speak aboout the possibilities for really touching people in staying true to your original calling to worship. The vision God gave me was that, indeed, your were embarking upon a crusade that would touch every part of the world (I later would be part of leading "Did You Herar The Mountains Tremble" in an incredible Portugse/Brazilian service.

God has provided a phenominal calling to worship for your. I will continue to pray for you as you find the new pathway God is lighting before your feet.

A chapter will end, and how we all have loved and enjoyed it, but we can all look forward to the new story that God will write for you and through you. Thanks for all that you've done! Your music has deeply touched my life, my husband's life, and our youth group as well. Our love and prayers are with you!

you are and will be my all time favorite band. I have had the blessing of seeing you and worshiping with you many times in California. The most memorable time was at Spirit West coast when you were wearing this pinkish shirt and and the band starting playing rain down, the clouds were getting dark over head, you stretched out your arms, the wind was blowing your shirt, you began singing and wow!!!!!! the heavens opened and it started to rain. I loved it. It is one of my fondest memories. You have given the world your heartfelt, Jesus inspired words. Thank-you so very much. Your songs will forever live in my heart. Delirious, you rock!!!!!! see you in heaven when we all will rock together. yay!!!!!!!!!!

I love your music, love the way you don't just entertain,
you lead your 'audience/congregations' into worship and the presence of God.

It takes courage to bring to an end something that is good and appreciated, but when God closes one door, He always opens another, bigger, higher, wider, yes, Deeper!

As in 'The Last Battle' (Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis) Jesus calls us "Further up! Further in! Further on!

May the Lord continue to pour out His abundant blessings on you all and on your families! Yes! He saves the best wine till last!
