So when I sign in on myspace it gives me all the normal stuff like, "friend requests" "messages" "new comments" and such,...but lately there's this new thing called "categories"! SO this morning I clicked on "categories" and someone has added me to the category of "Rich Celebrities" (I think that's the name, I was so excited I can't recall for certain)!!
And I thought,
"You've got to be kidding me! I'm rich?!?!? WHy hasn't anybody told ME? Heck, that changes EVERYTHING!!!"
I got so excited, that I ran upstairs and yelling at Kelly at 6:30 in the morning,
"Baby! You aint gonna believe this! But we're RICH!"
She peeked around the corner of the bathroom door where she was putting on make-up and getting ready to go to work, (she has to go in an hour early this morning) and said,
"Whaaaaat?"
"We're RICH! look, it says it right here! We're in the rich celebrities category! We're RICH!"
She just rolled her eyes at me and went right back to putting on her make-up like nothing had changed...and I was dumbfounded.
I mean....you wake one morning and find out you've got money you didn't know you had....why, that's a life changer isn't it? I ran back downstairs and looked up my business manager/accountant's home number and called her! She had to know about this!
"Hello?" the sleepy voice said into the phone.
"Legs!" (that's wat I call her cuz she's 6ft 4" tall)
"Yeah Jeff what IS it?" she said groggily.....
"WHy didn't you TELL me?!?!"
"Tell you what? What's going on?"
"Why didn't you tell me I'm RICH?!?!?"
No response for a second then she said,
"Whaaaat?"
"I'm RICH! It says it right here on myspace! I'm in the rich celebrities category!!!"
I didn't hear anything for a second, then "CLICK"!
So then my next call was to KB. Dialed his number. Heard his KB sleepy voice say
"Yeah?"
I practically screamed into the phone,
"DUDE! I'M RICH!!!!!"
"Wait a minute.....Whaaaaat?"
"I said I'm RICH!"
He asked the logical question, "WHat are you TALKING about?"
"DUUUDE!!!!! I'm RICH! It says so right here on myspace!"
"Are you crazy?!?!? It's 6:45 in the morning! Are you on drugs again?!?"
"NO!" I said. "I've been clean now for over 7 years! I'm telling you it says right here on myspace that I'm r..."
!!!!!!!!CLICK!!!!!!!!!
What the.....?!!!!!!!
So then I fumbled around and found the business card with my banker's cell phone on it where he wrote it down just in case of emergency and I pecked the numbers into my little cell phone key pad and waited for him to answer.
"Hello?"
"Tom!!!"
"Yeah?"
"Tom...when were you gonna tell me?"
"Who IS this? Tell you WHAT?"
"This is Jeff BATES!!! WHen were you going to tell me I'm RICH!?"
"Whaaaat?!?"
"TOM!!!!!! It says right here on myspace.....that I'm rich! I'm in the rich celebrity category..."
I hear silence on the other end of the line then a little laughter....then a LOT of laughter....,
"What's so funny Tom?"
"Jeff....you are NOT rich!"
"What do you mean? But it says it right here and..."
"JEFF!"
"WHat?"
"YOU ARE NOT RICH!"
I was puzzled, "What do you mean?"
"You are NOT rich! I just checked your account yesterday before I went home and you are $36.73 overDRAWN in your checking account!!"
"Whaaaaat?!?!? It can't be...!
"Jeff...you are NOT rich! Please make a deposit today to cover your overdraft!"
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!CLICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So there you have it! All because I believed in something I read on myspace!!!
Tough lesson here, but I won't be believing anything I read like that again about myself until I double check and make sure.
Now I've gotta go get dressed and make a deposit to cover my overdraft before the fees and penalties kick in!
