New Single to be Solomon Browne!
Solomon Browne will be the next single lifted from 'Poor Mans Heaven'. A song that recounts the real-life story of the ill-fated Penlee lifeboat which perished in 1981, Solomon Browne has been a touching favourite for many.

Following this and given the subject matter of the track, Seth has decided to donate a percentage of profits from the single to the RNLI, a charity cause he is very supportive of.

The single, which will be released exclusively via digital download on the 13th October, will be backed with new live versions of 3 tracks, all recorded during Seth's electrifying live performance at this summer's Cambridge Folk Festival.

Solomon Browne is a beautiful and very moving song. Listening to the story of the song underlines the importance of the RNLI, and the bravery of the men who lost their lives. It is great that some of the profits will be going to such a good cause (although a shame that it is not fully funded by the government - we don't have to give money to the ambulance service or fire brigade do we!).
Anyway, power to Seth's fiddler's elbow - great song and great cause!

Good luck!

I agree that Solomon Browne is an excellent song, as is the whole album.

Oh yes, the RNLI is a worthy cause, and thanks, Seth for this kind charitable donation.

I am glad however that the RNLI are NOT Government funded. They would close half the stations so that they could save money to pay for the exra administration needed to make a complete mess of the whole concern.

Solomon Browne is a great song, with such meaning and emotions. Its a real heart toucher, it makes you think of the story behind the song and not just the actual music. A song with a story is a inspiration to many..we take it and make our own judgements. Its beautiful.

Great choice of track. One of my favourites from the album. As an occasional surfer/sailor I know the donation to the RNLI will be much appreciated by many I sure. Keep up the great work Seth.

great song and a very deserving charity - I'm sure many will gladly download the single even though they have the album in order to help out - I know I will :)

I await the 29th with baited breath Mr Lakeman.

I too remember the Penlee lifeboat tragedy, I wept at the sacrifice made by those brave men, and the terrible loss felt by their families, and at Christmas too.

I was so upset, I remember I donated all the money that my aunts and uncles gave me for Christmas to the fund that was set up. I think it's brilliant that you're keeping their heroic act in the public eye and reminding us just what an incredible job the RNLI do.

Of course the real scandal is that they're not centrally funded by the government - oops a little bit of politics from Madame M.
