Sorry I've been so coy about these rumors, but I always like to wait until the contracts have been signed and the "first trimester" has been survived until I talk about stuff.

But yes, inexplicably, I've been hired as an Executive Story Editor by the fantastic television show LOST.  As I'm neither an executive nor an editor, this is really just a fancy Hollywood way of saying that I've joined the writing staff.

I can't talk about much more than that, so I implore you to please stop asking me what the island is, who the Others are, how Matthew Fox smells, etc.  Still, I will say that I'm insanely honored to join such an amazing group of writers (some of their new scripts I've been lucky enough to read are destined to become the best episodes of the series), and I'm very grateful to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for having so much faith in me.

And no, I'm absolutely not leaving comics.  There are a lot of Y: The Last Man and Ex Machina fans at the show, so everyone has been great about leaving me just enough time to work on those books, and even some new ones, including an upcoming four-issue stint on that Runaways guy Joss Whedon's "eighth season" of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER over at Dark Horse.  Stay tuned for news on the all-important creator-owned front, as well.

I've learned more about the creative process in two weeks inside the Lost writers' room than I did in four (very rewarding) years at NYU's film school, so hopefully, this new challenge will push me to become a stronger writer and help my work to evolve.

Mostly, I just don't want to screw up a show that I love.

Brian,

You suck.

Now I have to watch this show.  That's another hour of my life I'm losing because you can't say no.

Thanks a lot, jerk.

Nice!

Is there any way you could get a capuchin monkey onto the cast?
Lost needs more monkeys.

I hope this doesn't mean that you'll stop writing for comic books. I'm happy for you to gain a spot in such a well known show. Congrats.

Btw, Have you seen the Lost Room mini-series yet on Sci Fi channel? Great stuff there.

This is absolutely insanely amazing news for sure, but is it strange that I'm a bit more excited about your four-issue Buffy run?

I haven't regularly watched Lost since I bought the first season DVD (and loved it with a white hot passion).  I'd better get caught up, no?

Waaaaaaay cool! I love LOST!!!!
Are you & Joss good friends? It seems like you guys keep tossing each other  projects.
Here's an idea: since Joss is going to be writing Runaways, maybe you should try out a story arc on Astonishing X-Men.
Ooooh.... I just had a braingasm.

Thanks for the add. And I agree: Don't screw it up. Kidding...it's good to be humble but never question your qualifications. When Neil Armstrong stepped on the surface of the moon, he didn't say "This is inexplicable"....He said something insanely prolific: One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.....So make sure you come up with something half as good as that.....no pressure

Congrats & Salutations.

So which hero does that make you? I'm not a fanatic, but I heard (rumorville rag) that the show was only created for a max of three series & they were having trouble making it stretch to five or six seasons. SO with this is mind I do hope that you enjoy your time/experience, and however you come up with those ideas of yours, keep doin what you're doin.

Still haven't figured out where you're genius ends, and the insnanity begins.

For those of you reading this I'm about to go into ramble mode.

Y-The Last Man. His name is Yorick. The male chromosome is X(Y). A twisted sister called Hero. I had to google Ampersand (&) very smart indeed.

As for Ex-Machina, it's providing me with invaluable information, should I take up the mantle and go for public office, (skilfully highlighted that even as a superhero, there's only so much that one man can do). Oh, and Mayor Hundred's mother is great.

I haven't managed to get to Runaways yet, but christmas is coming, and it's definately on my wish list, along with Pride of Baghdad.

Keep ya head warm this winter, those of us who are follicly challenged, or just prefer the wash & go approach, have to stick together. And if anyone calls you Michael Rosenbaum/Lex Luthor, well you just ignore them.

Many Happy Returns to you and all your fam B.

Peace & Many Blessings

One
