Girls Guns and Glory Sign Record Deal With Lonesome Day
Girls, Guns & Glory has signed a record deal with Lonesome Day Records who will pick up their current self-released album, "Inverted Valentine", as well as release their next album in 2009. Both will be distributed nationally.
Since it's debut, "Inverted Valentine" has reached 8 on the national Americana Music Association (AMA) chart, 2 on the Roots Music Report (RMR), and 12 on XM Satellite X-Country chart. The album's songs catch the listener's ear with melodic hooks delivering a clear and concise message with well-crafted, thought-provoking lyrics. The success of the album garnered GG&G a prime showcase at the National AMA Music Conference in Nashville last month where they were labeled as the "buzz" band of the conference by "Country Standard Time" magazine.
Girls Guns & Glory explores a variety of sonic concoctions under the guise of Americana. Their country twang mixed with the genuine sentiment of rock and folk captures the attention of all listeners who can appreciate catchy, yet thoughtful tunes. Girls Guns and Glory formed in Boston, Massachusetts in the winter of 2005 when Ward Hayden (lead vocals/acoustic guitar) and Bruce Beagley (bass) teamed up to record Ward's original compositions and entered Noise in the Attic Studios just 3 weeks after their formation to begin work on their debut CD "Fireworks and Alcohol." Their sophomore release, "Pretty Little Wrecking Ball", in February of 2007, proved to be the catalyst in a break-out year for the band as they collected 2 Boston Phoenix awards, numerous articles in the press, and lots of radio play, culminating in a Boston Music Award for "Outstanding Americana Act of the Year". The band solidified it's lineup as a strong 4-piece featuring John Graham on drums and Colt Thompson on guitar.

Kentucky based Lonesome Day Records, founded by Randall Deaton, was originally conceived as a vehicle for high quality Bluegrass recordings featuring such notables as Grammy nominated Ralph Stanley II, Larry Cordle and Blue Moon Rising. Lonesome Day has recently broadened it's spectrum with the AMA Top 30 release of Fred Eaglesmith's "Tinderbox". "We are excited to sign Girls Guns and Glory", said Randalll Deaton, "their energy, songwriting and broad based appeal are a great fit for Lonesome Day".
