been getting a lot of furious emails regarding my blog on prop 8 because I apparently offended some animal lovers. um, really people? i love animals as much as anyone, i don't eat pork- so for those of you fighting that good fight against me... shut up! i was all for prop 2, however i was just pointing out the fact that people in california seem to care more about animal rights than human rights. that's all. i'm not running around killing chickens for fun or firing a slingshot at a squirrel, nor was i promoting any such behaviour, i was simply venting.... much like I am now.

p.s. if you don't like what i have to say, don't read my blogs. it's that simple!

Apparently the people of California are CONSERVATIVE. That's great news. Thank GOD.

- - - - - - - - - -

The Issue

California voters passed Proposition 22 in 2000 by more than 61%, saying that a marriage in California is between a man and a woman. Earlier this year, four activist judges based in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people's vote, legalizing same-sex marriage.

The Consequences

The Supreme Court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriage did not just overturn the will of California voters; it also redefined marriage for the rest of society, without ever asking the people themselves to accept this decision. This decision has far-reaching consequences. For example, because public schools are already required to teach the role of marriage in society as part of the curriculum, schools will now be required to teach students that gay marriage is the same as traditional marriage, starting with kindergarteners. By saying that a marriage is between “any two persons” rather than between a man and a woman, the Court decision has opened the door to any kind of “marriage.” This undermines the value of marriage altogether at a time when we should be restoring marriage, not undermining it.

The Solution

Vote YES on Proposition 8 to overturn the outrageous Supreme Court decision and restore the definition of marriage that was approved by over 61% of voters. Proposition 8 is NOT an attack on gay couples and does not take away the rights that same-sex couples already have under California’s domestic partner law. California law already grants domestic partners all the rights that a state can grant to a married couple. Gays have a right to their private lives, but not to change the definition of marriage for everyone else.

Passing Proposition 8 protects our children and places into the Constitution the simple definition that a marriage is between a man and a woman.

All people in California are definitely not conservative. It is a big state, here in Northern California many of us worked passionately both for Prop 2 and against Prop 8. As far as rude people on myspace, i have been here for over 2 years and there are lots of rude people. i regret even having the name Kindness of Strangers. However i must say even though i do not agree with all PETA does or all their tactics, i understand PETA's choosing to pick on celebrities as they are in a position to set an example for others.

Oh really? Did you happen to do any research on this topic what-so-ever? Marriage isn't a big deal to gay people right? I mean, why should we get married? hmm....why should anyone get married? Perhaps because they love each other? Also, one more thing...with prop 8, you can't adopt a child unless you are married. Hmmm. So gay people should not have a family? We should not have the RIGHT to give a child a home that needs one? We should not have the RIGHT to have a family? hmmm... who would have thought? ALL MAN CREATED EQUAL...oh really? hmmmm But you state in your response to the blog that we have the same rights? We do? REALLY!?!?!!! Why dont you explain this to me again, because I'm very sorry but I didn't quite get it the first time. Oh yeah one more thing, I thought there was supposed to be a seperation of church and state? The marriage of a man and women is based on Adam and Eve, which happends to be in the bible!! You have your belief, your way of life, and your freedom to do so, why not let us have the freedom to live our way of life, and have our beliefs? Oh wait, I forgot, it's because we are all equal, damn, I forgot about that concept...

Better check again- it only won the state by 52-47% and lost in some places by a 4-1 margin. Marriage is a contract and the law should not designate who the people are making the contract.

Trusty Shellback~

If you really did your research, you would know that domestic partnership is not even close to being equal to the legal rights and priviledges as marriage.

If you had any clue, you would realize that the reason we have a Supreme Court is to help determine if laws and legislation are constitutional. Whether their decision is "popular" or not, they interpret based on the law. I suppose you think they made a mistake in Brown Vs. The Board of Education, too........... assuming you even know what that is.............

Try reading the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. The church and religious beliefs are supposed to stay separate from the law. A marriage license is just that... a license; a legal contract between two people. I have one. It's an official piece of paper. If you don't want gay people to get married in your church, so be it. But, if you really want to protect the sanctity of marriage, how about making divorce illegal? Straight marriages ending in more than a 50% divorce rate have done a fine job of defiling marriage all on their own. By the way, how many children's lives have been completely destroyed due the irresponsible abuse of "marriage" by their straight parents? Protect children, indeed.

Also, if the law stated, as it did just 50 years ago, that Latinos and African Americans were not allowed to marry, I suppose you would be OK with that, too. Discrimination is discrimination: it doesn't matter how you feel about the group of people being denied civil liberties- it is wrong to pick one group of citizens to deny rights to.

Most importantly, it is completely inappropriate for the majority to have a vote for minority rights. If that were OK in the first place, the Civil Rights Movement would have never happened in our country, which would probably also be OK with you.

Read a little. Check your facts. I served my country. I know what civil liberties are and that ALL citizens are supposed to be afforded EQUAL protection under the law - even the citizens that I don't like (such as child molesters, white supremicists, and even idiots like you). Have you done ANYTHING to deserve those rights and freedoms? It is amazing you have the audacity to then deny others rights you so selfishly enjoy. Oh yeah, you think you're better than people you don't like......

Thank God people like me have fought to save YOUR civil liberties .............. you self righteous hypocrit. If you really want to save marriage, start educating yourself.

Sort of off topic here , but here's a list of dogs subjected to breed bans in various parts of the U.S.A. I just found out that PETA is in favour of breed bans and if they had it their way my pal to the left would be euthanized without opportunity to defend himself. That's Domino , a big guy who thinks he is a lap dog. He likes to sniff cats and eat small appliances , so unless you are a coffee maker he won't try to eat you. He is unaware that there are people out there trying to execute him simply because of the way he looks. Here are some of the reasons why Prop 8 passed and I don't think thepassing of it reflects Californians' views on it:
From http://www. bradblog. com/?p=6637

Voter Intimidation Problems:
31091: Caller reports that San Diego Minute Men have announced that they intend to be "monitoring" Latino voters in area polling places.

Voting Equipment Problems:
61864: Voting machine is shredding ballots in Fresno ...

63263: Scanner for F-K ballots rejecting all ballots as invalid. Alternate electronic voting machine not operational ...

60678: Voter was told all machines were down and that he could not vote. They did not know how long would take, and voter had to return to work. The polling place took back his ballot and ripped it up. Voter still wants to vote.

Polling Place Problems:
92413: Cops pulling over multiple people as they approach the polling place. Polling place is the National Guard Recruiting Center ... (Note: This probably should have been logged also as a voter intimidation problem.
)

92971: TOP OF BALLOT COUNTER WAS NOT ON CORRECTLY (IT WAS ON BACKWARDS) until 10am, 200 ballots fell out crumpled, they put them into the box- AND BALLOTS WERE CRUMPLED AND THEY SHOVED THEM BACK INTO THE BOX, NOT SURE THEY ARE COUNTED...(emphasis in original)

94051: 2 separate ballots were given, one for presidential and one for propositions. The presidential ballot was run through the machine, but the other machine was broken ...

Those are only some of the problems on election day. There are many more. I don't think Californians intended to pass Proposition 8.

to anyone who took the time to slam samantha ronson for expressing her opinion about the california propositions: why don't you spend your time more wisely and write to the many corporations which abuse animals; and/or volunteer for PETA, the ASPCA, or another animal rights organization? i am also a great supporter of animal rights but i did not misinterpret samantha's blog as a call to abuse animals because it's obvious she did not say that at all! please, *do something* about problems instead of miscontruing and then insulting people for expressing their feelings. you'll feel a lot better about yourself.

I actually emailed PETA , here's a snippet: " Her comments were reactionary. She actually implored people to vote in favor of Prop 2 in her previous days' blog and was glad that it passed. She was attempting to make a point about inequality but misfired. Have you ever made a seemingly callous statement when YOU were upset? " I am reconsidering my membership (and the money I donate) to the organization because they have once again decided to link people to The Queen of Homophobic Media.
(That's Perez Hilton for those of you who haven't read my blogs) Why would a respectful organization ally themselves with someone who has made a fortune off of spewing hatred ?

are people serious right now?

clearly samantha is not saying anything to go against animal rights or anything of that sort. when i read the blog i think she made it pretty clear what the issue was. The fact that people are being stripped of their right to love and care for someone and have a family like everyone else. its not fair, its not humane, and its just really fucked up. Anyone who is going to read something like that and make a fucking issue over the comparison she is using to make a point is just absolutly out of their mind! and must have way to much time on their hands.

we ALL know what angle she was coming from. Dont be dumb it truly had nothing to do with the animals.

Please everyone just think before you make foolish posts and emails. its embracing for me to read some of your shit. I feel sorry for your stupidity.

...your so funny "I'm not running around killing chickens for fun or firing a slingshot at a squirrel"....I think I saw an episode like that once on King of The Hill...

Prop 2 was not only for better conditions for "the animals" but it was meant to improve on standards through a healthier process to help keep "our food" clean...

Prop 8 was an issue on "acceptance and tolerance" for expanding the definition of marriage...

I don't know about most people but Prop 8 seems to be just slightly more important...I mean from one Human to another...

At the end of the day "This is your blog and you can say whatever your little heart desires"..

I don't think it was your intention to offend any "animal activist"...oops..if you did!
