Hi Friends.

Prompted by a message from Johna I thougth it would be interesting to hear which songs you hope to hear played at the gigs. Keep it to around 10  songs in order of preference.

Cheers

I tried not to be too obvious as I imagine Shot By Both Sides, The Light Pours Out Of Me and Definitive Gaze will make an appearance anyway. I'm not even sure that Upside Down was played live at all but I'm going on my few bootleg tapes so may be way off the mark. It would be interesting to hear some of the Magic,Murder And The Weather material live but I'm probably in the minority on that one.
:-)

P.S. Quite ironic that the ShotByBothSides website goes offline as the lads get back together, hopefully it'll be back soon.

To hear anything new would be fantastic & give me hope for the future.

Also i think "magic, murder & the weather" is being unfairly ignored, quite an underrated album; but i guess that's cos' the other 3 are such superb albums.

Would love to hear "the honeymoon killers" "the operative" "about the weather" & "come alive".

Okay. I've now been listening to all 4 albums on regular rotation.

Whether or not Howard/Dave take any notice of these comments or not, they should know this.

REAL LIFE deserves to be played in it's entirity!
This is not only one of the strongest debuts of all time, but one of THE greatest albums of all time; up their with perrenial favourites: revolver, dark side, ok computer etc etc.

SECONDHAND DAYLIGHT, is perhaps not as immediate as it's predecessor, but is similar in style & arrangements, with perhaps more emphasis on Dave's driving keyboards. The first 3 tracks definitely deserve an airing, as does Believe I Understand, but the one track which must not be ignored is PERMAFROST, one of Magazine's greatest & most popular songs.

THE CORRECT USE OF SOAP was a change in direction for the band, an altogether looser/funkier affair, with less of the trademark driving keyboards, but was very well received at the time, i remember, & is a great album. Song From Under The Floorboards is one of the greatest singles of the era, with wonderful lyrics from Howard & should certainly be included in any setlist. Other contenders should include the excellent Because Your Frightened , Sweetheart Contract & the superb, moving, You Never Knew Me, an anthem to all young broken hearts of the period!! (witness grown men crying!!!).

MAGIC, MURDER & THE WEATHER was criminally ignored and underrated at the time of release & perhaps lead to the downfall of the band (a situation repeated later with LUXURIA & the absolutely superb BeastBox), but is another superb, majestic album, with some wonderful arrangements & lyrics.
And songs that have yet to be aired in the live arena!
About The Weather is another in a line of superb Magazine singles, but other equally as deserving tracks include The Honeymoon Killers, Come Alive & The Garden.

Oh & why was the track "The Operative" relegated to a b-side?? I love this song.

And finally if there's any new songs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So there you go, my tuppenth worth.

Time flies.

Time crawls.

Time Regained.

About time.

Roll on February!!!!!

Hello
It's 5 months away but I'm brimming with anticipation and excitement! But to the matter of 10 songs, I hope this isn't going to be a setlist by survey? I trust Magazine to choose a wonderful evening's listening without my help.
But here goes with my list of 10:

Parade
I Want to Burn Again
I Wanted Your Heart
Back To Nature
Definitive Gaze
TV Baby
Philadelphia
Shot By Both Sides
Give Me Everything
Stuck

Just realised they might need a guest sax player as well....

Good luck with the rehearsals.

Best Wishes
