Paris ....North suburban station.
Last night was very good...Paris the home of so much that I love.From existentialism ,surrealism and Baudelaire to Justice and Francois Hardy, Air and lets not forget the master Serge Gainsborge! I was in Paris the night Serge died .I was in the same studio he was in the day before! I was producing the Gypsy Kings and around 10pm the conversation turned to the legend of Serge and many a good story was shared.The next day we found out he died the previous evening 10pm.....spooky!
We are on the subterranean fringe , next to their equivalent of the M25.Yet it is still Paris with fantastic little cafes and brassieres.
I believe the audience here understands the ideology behind the band very well and certainly appreciates it...there were some serious collectors after the show....impressive! . It has been a pleasure meeting some very inspired and interesting people on this tour all round .Being in the studio environment so much...is a bit like being in a spaceship, except you go deep "inside" as well as "outside".On tour you meet 'real people with real lives who do real work!" and it completes the circle.
After the gigs I tend to listen to beatless ambient music i call it "Drift music"It gives me the serenity of stars and a degree of meditative clarity.... and its the perfect antidote to the sonic psychic assault of KJ!(the album "catching fire..."that accompanies my poetry book is exactly this kind of music.......if any one wants to reserve a copy to be collected at the gig email here...they are almost all gone!
We are forever vacillating between happiness and fear.... yet great art can penetrate those mysteries of the universe ....it can bring the "timeless" out of time none more so than music the oldest art .
Paris seems ripe for some more annihilation!
