The first of all of the district Festival of Gifts and Talents was in the Johnson City District tonight (Oct. 5). For those who don't know, the Festival of Gifts and Talents is the way various groups are able to perform at Resurrection each year.
Johnson City's Festival was held at Wesley Memorial UMC. Four groups performed, along with Cory from Sulphur Springs UMC who led worship, and Stone Dam UMC's dance group: Steps of Grace. Munsey Memorial UMC's youth praise band performed a song written by a church member, Wesley Memorial UMC's dance team performed, Limestone UMC had a performance using sticks to act out the lyrics to "From the Corners of the Earth," and First UMC had someone perform a song on their guitar. The group chosen to represent the JC District at Resurrection was Wesley Memorial's dance team!
There was also an offering taken for YSF and over $100 was raised!!
The Cleveland District gathered on Sunday, October 19 to share their gifts and talents. There were around 100 people for an awesome afternoon of worship and fellowship. There were five groups who shared talent offerings:
Broad Street UMC's youth choir N-Light-N sang "Come to the Cross."
Keith Memorial UMC's youth band performed "My God's Enough"
Vine Grove UMC performed a drama to "Everything" by Lifehouse
Wesley Memorial UMC's youth band performed "Grace Like Rain"
Ooltewah UMC performed sign language and drama to Casting Crown's "East to West"
Ooltewah was chosen to represent the Cleveland District at Resurrection 09!
On Sunday October 12, 2008; 77 people met at Asbury United Methodist Church in Greeneville, TN for the Morristown Gifts and Talent Night. Three churches were represented. Everyone enjoined Sub Sandwiches and a devotion about us all being Made to Love and be Loved by God based on Toby Mac's Song. The group chosen for Resurrection was the Asbury Liturgical Dance and Praise Team. They have 5 dancers and 4 band members. The song they are doing is Amazing Grace, My Chains are Gone by Chris Tomlin. It was a great night of worship and fellowship.
