It's now 1.55 AM and I probably should be busy doing some work, but I've wanted to write since Monday, but was just too tired.
So I'll write a piece now, before I take some time of to start on the projects I need to do.

So guess what??

You probably already guessed it when you read the title of this blog, but… I just landed my first job.  Yeah
My first job as a web designer.

So far I've only designed websites for myself and maybe done some graphics for some friends, but never a full website for someone else. But now I've been asked and I'm getting paid for it too.

So this how the story goes.
Last week I received a PM from a guy at my profile on Hi5 (some MySpace-wannabe-website). My profile info there is the same as here on MySpace; which means it says that i do some web designing. So I was contacted by this guy who needed someone to build a website for his company and he asked none other than me.
Which is a huge deal for me, because besides that I've never worked for a company I've also never actually made a website that wasn't about a person/artist/band. So it has to be a "business" website. This is a challenge for me too, but one I think I can handle.

I didn't respond to the PM till last weekend and I also called the number the guy left behind. We talked for a few minutes and planned to meet on Monday morning. I didn't really tell anyone, besides my best friend of course, because I didn't want to jinx it.

That night – the night of Sunday to Monday – I barely slept. I'm not sure I even slept at all. Not sure if it was the anxiety or my insomnia bugging me again. Maybe a little of both. Another reason why I couldn't sleep was, because before going to bed I was in an argument with my mother, which bothered me. After a lot of twisting and turning I still couldn't sleep. So I didn't have a shut eye all night.

I was very early up that morning (obviously) and got ready to meet this guy.
I had to search, because I wasn't sure where he lived. But I eventually found it and was just on time as we had arranged.

I met the guy and we talked about his plans and the possibilities.
I'm able to do what he wants so I accept the "job offer".
If you're getting paid to do something, I think it counts as a job… So yeah.. I landed my first job as a web designer.

That same day (Monday), I also tons of other things to do: I had to pay the doctor a quick visit, driving theory practice and college from 16.30-21.15h, so I was tired when I came home, because I had been out of the house almost all day.
Than that night there was Dancing with the stars Finale, which I also wanted to watch, so I went to bed somewhere at 2 AM.
Though I didn't sleep for over 24h and was very tired, I wanted to wear out myself, because I was afraid that maybe I wouldn't be able to sleep at night again. Because this has been a problem for a couple of days now… but that's a story for another time.

Yesterday there was no school and no work for anyone, because it was Suriname's Independent day (November 25). I was able to sleep that night and wake up very refreshed.
In the morning I received a mail from the guy who wants me to do this company's website and he asked me to design a flyer for a White Party in December. I just finished that, just before I logged in here, and sent him the first draft of the flyer. He must tell me what he thinks and than I can finish it or start a new one.

So if everything goes well, I can start "working" as a web designer as I've always wanted and of course still go to college. So this will be just my job to earn some free cash, while still having a lot of fun in doing what I like.

So now I really must start on this guy's website. Although it's 2.22 AM I'm not sleepy, so I will start working. It's quite now, so I can concentrate better. And on Wednesday I have no college, so I can just sleep in.
