i watched Bob Woodruff's "To Iraq and Back"...and though it was just a small piece of what's going on...it was an eye-opening, emotional and heart-wrenching documentary...and most amazing is how uninformed we are...we hear about the casualities...but we don't get the list of the injured...we get the sense that those who have access to big city VA medical facilities have a much better chance than those who eventually go home to rural America and local VA hospitals (I personally know folks who work for this agency...and there is a "government job" attitude which ...well...generally sucks...it's abusive and flippant at best)...Bob Woodruff's life is going down a different path...and his mission is far from over...not only has he slapped the reality of what's going on...but his work has generated a more deep rooted conversation...and some controversial...mostly because the entire Iraq initiative is multi-layered between the military and the many civilian contractors who have also been injured...which brings up dialog about medical coverage and access to the top medical facilities...and even if in fact that journalist even belong in these ranks...if Woodruff's survival was not documented it would have been a tragedy...this is a person who can get at least some of the story out there...to enlighten those...including myself...many have been struggling to get the information out in the open...instead of sweeping it under the carpet as the goverment has been choosing to do...not to add more negative opinion to this "war" (anyone who knows me...knows i disdain the term "war" as used for the "situation" in Iraq)...this documentary can be both the catalyst and magnet for all related medical issues stemming from deployment to Iraq...and hopefully the citizens of America will finally awaken...for those who have been and those still waiting to go...yes, these dedicated men and women are doing the best of what is expected of them ...in a truly bad situation...i have nothing but the utmost respect for these valient people...i just wish this goverment could make better use of their remarkable service...
